I've never heard of that. What is it? I just made graham cracker toffee tonight. I thinks it's similar to the saltine toffee you guys were talking about. It's cooling right now. Hope it's as good as it looks.

I always make chocolate pecan pie. My cousin asked for an Italian cream cake....which I've never tried. (Not a fan of coconut.) I usually try to do something fun for the kids, too--cupcakes or cookies or something.

Here's the recipe for Christmas Crack. I add coconut because I love it so much. www.tablefortwoblog.com/christmas-crack/Speaking of coconut, melly, do you have that Italian Cream Cake recipe? The one with the coconut? I am going to make Chocolate Bread Pudding for dessert on Christmas Day. I never made it before, but Ron is a bread pudding fan, so I figured I'd try it.

I like bread pudding but I've never had a chocolate variety.
I need to make cookies for a cookie exchange on Thursday. I need to look for a tasty and simple recipe.

Have you ever had Watergate cookies? That's what I'm bringing for my cookie exchange Monday. It's just a box of white cake mix, a box of pistachio pudding mix, 1/2 cup of oil, 2 eggs and 1/2 cup of walnuts. Drop tsp size cookies onto a baking sheet and bake at 350 for approx 10 min. Don't overtake. They're pretty good if you like pistachio plus they're green so to me they're kind of Christmasy and something different than chocolate chip, etc .

Thanks for the ideas wendylou and Kpatch. I've never heard of either of those treats. I like pistachio.

Yummy Kpatch! I have made this, it was a big hit! I usually do thumbprints, Christmas crack and a gingerbread or sugar cookie or both, but I do not make my own dough for these, only for the thumbprints!

Kpatch I finally checked this recipe out. It's basically the same thing as the graham cracker toffee except for the crackers. I loved that and so did everyone at work. I was going to make another batch for my family at Christmas but now I'm wondering if the saltines would make it even better. The graham crackers were pretty darn good. Oh choices choices.

I've never heard of the cookies, but my grandma made Watergate Salad. It has the pistachio pudding in it, and pineapples, marshmallows, Cool Whip, and we use pecans in ours. It was always a tradition at my Grandma's house and when my brothers were little (before I was born), it ended up being named by them "Green Slime". So, every year at Christmas now, someone has to make and bring the Green Slime.

I've never tried the Watergate recipes but I do love pistachios. wendylou, I think the difference with the Saltines is you get that sweet and salty flavor that you probably don't get with the graham crackers. I'm going to make the Christmas Crack to take to our neighbors for their Christmas Eve party. Speaking of pistachios, last year, I sprinkled on pistachios. This year, I don't have any so we will do without. I had forgotten that I posted the Crack recipe in the very first post in this thread. Haha!
