Here's my little spot where I will be posting deleted or changed scenes from my Undertow series. Most of these scenes will be incomplete - either dialogue only or prose only. Some will be complete passages from a chapter, but short or unused.
I hope you enjoy this backstage access into my writing. 
As always, I would love to know what you think.

Brady/Philip/Nicole
Brady: (watching Melanie on the dance floor with Sonny)"She's something isn't she?"
Philip: "I've never seen her like this before. She's so vibrant, so alive."
Brady: "It's been awhile since I've seen her like this too. I miss that smile. I've been so worried about her. I was scared I never going to see it again."
Philip: "Looks like the missing ingredient was dancing."
Brady: "Come on Philip, you know music is not what put that smile back on her face, especially not this music. Punked out Manilow? I seriously don't know what Sonny and Mel were thinking."
Philip: "I've been awake for weeks and she's never been like this. So it's not me that made the difference."
Brady: "Yes it is. You're with her, spending time, paying attention. She missed you and you woke up but you still didn't come back to her.”
Philip: "I hate all this abstract metaphysical crap. I woke up, I didn't come back to anyone."
Nicole: (suddenly appearing beside them) "Not exactly true. You came back to Chloe and to Parker."
Brady: "Nicole you're not helping."
Nicole: "Don't give me that Brady. I've been good. I haven’t hounded, harassed or lectured, though you know I'm dying to put my foot up his ass."
Philip: "Hey! What did I do?"
Nicole: "All this silent contempt crap tonight with Chloe"
Philip: "Nicole I don't want to talk about that. It's complicated."
Nicole: "It's a load of hooey."
Philip: "You don't know the whole story, so you can’t understand."
Nicole: "Sure I do. Chloe didn't tell you she was married to Lucas and you're all pissy and green."
Philip: "It's not about her marriage to my brother."
Nicole: "It better not be. Because take it from someone who has been married to Lucas, that's not info you shout to the world. You swallow it down and bury it deep."
Philip: "I'm sure he feels the same way about you."
Nicole: "Good he should. We were nothing to each other. Just like he and Chloe were nothing too."
Philip: "He disagrees. He was hurt."
Nicole: "His ego, not his heart. The man was on the rebound, and found himself a hot chick to bang. He really has no reason to complain."
Philip: "I don't want to talk about my brother banging anybody."
Nicole: "What'd I tell ya? Green."
Brady: "That did seem pretty jealous Philip."
Philip: "She wasn't honest with me. She deliberately withheld something when I asked her to share all with me."
Nicole: "I didn't tell you I was married to EJ."
Philip: "Why would I care about that? Your past romances have nothing to do with me."
Nicole: "Exactly. And neither do Chloe's."
Philip: "Not the same and you know it. Chloe and I have history, a connection, with the type of relationship we have, there are no secrets."
Nicole: "bulls**t Philip. Chloe was just worried about your health, or her health, that's why she didn't tell you about some things right off the bat, but that doesn't mean she was never going to tell you. How can you stand there and judge her when you're doing the same damn thing?"
Philip: "I’m not lying to her."
Nicole: "She knows that you're lurking in the shadows, drool pooled in the corner of your mouth watching Melanie like some pervy old dude on the prowl?"
Philip: "What? I'm just observing the party."
Nicole: "Give it up. I know what's going on with you"
Brady: "Me too."
Philip: "What do you know?"
Nicole: "I know you want to sleep with Melanie."
Philip: "That's ridiculous. How are you getting that from me just standing here?"
Brady: "You can't get busy in the hospital and think no one will know about it."
Philip: "We did not get busy! She was my nurse and she was there for me."
Nicole: "I bet. Sponge baths feel a whole lot different when you're able to respond, don't they?"
Philip: "You are so sick Nicole."
Nicole: "And you are a liar. You want Melanie and I know you haven’t mentioned a word of that to Chloe. She's moping around here deluding herself that the only obstacle between you two is this little lie, but it's not is it?"
Philip: "I am a married man Nicole."
Brady: "A married man that wants to f*ck his wife."
Philip: “Brady!”
Brady: “What? I saw that kiss.”
Philip: “It was just a kiss.”
Brady: “Who needs Higleys? Mel gave you a lap dance in the middle of the room.”
Nicole: “Okay, okay, I can’t hear anymore. Philip got his birthday jollys. Let’s move on.”
Philip: “Just how much have you had to drink Brady?”
Brady: “I’d say just enough.”
Nicole: “He’s cut off. Don’t worry about it.”
Brady: “You can’t cut me off Mrs. Dimera. You don’t have the right anymore.”
Philip: “Looks like you two have issues to work out so I’m going to go.”
Nicole: “Are you going to find Chloe and confess?”
Philip: “Like I said before, I don’t have anything to confess. I’m not hiding anything.”
Nicole: “Yeah cuz you can’t hide it. Never could. I’ve got two words for you SEX TAPE.”
Philip: “You know about that?”
Nicole: “Everyone does Philip and I’m sure many watched. Some of the gossip sites managed to save a copy before Brady got it taken off the web.”
Brady: “You can’t sue everybody.”
Nicole: “You and Mel went global with your own version of ‘One Night in Paris’.”
Brady: “I think theirs had more hits though. Philip always tried to be so down low with his sex life, people were naturally curious.”
Nicole: “Down low is a good word for it. You like to work that mouth for more than just talking dontcha?”
Philip: “Nicole you did not just go there.”
Brady: “I can’t believe she did either. You spent a little too much time watching my uncle’s porn show.”
Nicole: “Chloe wouldn’t look, but she kept asking questions, so I had to help my bestie out.”
Philip: “Chloe didn’t watch it?”
Nicole: “Uh no. Why would she want to watch her ex and possibly one true love have sex with another woman? Sorry Brady.”
Brady: “Hey it’s all right. Chloe’s made it clear that Philip is a fillet and I’m chopped meat.”
Philip: “Wasn’t she with Daniel during all this?”
Nicole: “Latent desires. That’s why you got to go make peace with her, finally you two are on the same page.”
Brady: “Philip doesn’t know what page he’s on.”

Love Nicole and how blunt she is!! Nicole is so much fun to write...I can make her say pretty much anything...she has no boundaries...and yet still she has so much heart. Love that girl! |

Another little something that didn't make the cut... -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Philip/Melanie
Philip: “I have another wish.”
Melanie: “You only get one per birthday.”
Philip: “I’m a Kiriakis, those rules don’t apply to me. I wish that...”
Melanie: “Wait, let me figure out your wish. I’m going to read your mind. Close your eyes.”
Philip: “I have to close my eyes to get my mind read?”
Melanie: “Yes I need to concentrate and you looking at me is distracting.”
Philip: “Okay eyes are officially shut. You’re not going to pull a whip out on me are you? Melanie? Oh, that feels nice. I like when you rub my head.”
Melanie: “I did that all the time in the hospital. I probably should stop doing it now that you’re all better.”
Philip: “Don’t you dare. It’s so soothing, better than a back rub.”
Melanie: “Stop talking, I’m trying to focus.”
Philip: “Sorry. The lips are zipped. No more sounds out of me. Are you done yet?”
Melanie: “Philip!”
Philip: “Sorry but you’re taking so long and I’m getting hungry again.”
Melanie: “I missed you so much.”
Philip: Philip opened his eyes and looked at her, gliding his hand through her hair to caress the back of her head, lightly urging her toward him. “You don’t have to miss me anymore Melanie. I’m back and I’m here.”
Melanie: “I know, I just…” she trailed off trying to hold back her emotions.
Melanie stared down at her lap, trying to get herself together before facing him again. It was so hard seeing him so close, talking so casually, like nothing ever changed between them, when she could see the disaster waiting in the wings. The only reason he was even paying this much attention to her tonight was because Chloe had done something to turn him away. What was going to happen when they made up? Would she be left all alone longing for her husband to come back again?
Philip: “Tell me what my wish was?”
Taking a deep breath, Melanie drifted toward him, instinctively her hands went to his hair, and her lips parted. She closed her eyes as her lips met his with full intensity.
Melanie: “Sorry,” she said when she pulled away. “Sorta hijacked your wish. I’m a Kiriakis too you know. I can do that.”
Philip: “Yeah you are a Kiriakis aren’t you?” he chuckled. “I’ll let this wish thievery go this one time, because you’re so damn cute and your mouth tastes so sweet.”
Melanie: “I wish we could stay like this all night,” she sighed leaning her forehead against his.
Philip: “It’s not your birthday. You don’t get to make wishes.”
Melanie: “Yeah I know, especially not ones that will never come true.”
Philip: Philip leaned back to look her in the eyes. “I don’t believe in the word ‘never’, so maybe if you show me your pretty smile again I just might be persuaded to share my wishes with you for the night.”
Melanie: “I don’t want your wishes,” she said running her fingers through his hair, a slight smile forming on her lips. “I just want you to have a happy birthday.”
Philip: “How can I not be happy with my Little Nurse in my arms?”
Melanie: “Philip you don’t have to say that. I know you’d rather be with Ch—“ His lips covered hers taking her by surprise, her sentence fading from her mind.
With both hands on her cheeks he pulled her closer pressing soft kisses against her mouth. Melanie relaxed into him, kissing him back, against her better judgment, but she had no will when it came to him. Being with Philip like this meant everything to her.
Philip: “So about this band, who told you I liked Barry Manilow?” he asked watching her with a smile.
Melanie: “I’m perceptive, sometimes I can even read your mind.”
Philip: “I’m still waiting to see your mind reading skills in action. What am I thinking now?”
Melanie: “You’re thinking that you want to give Great Aunt Gretchen a hug for making those pickles.”
Philip: “Oh you’re good.”
Melanie: “I know. You used to tell me that all the time.”
Philip: “Care to refresh my memory of all the things you were good at?”
Melanie: “I don’t know if we have time for all that. There’s a lot.”
Philip: “Lucky thing then that I made a wish for us to stay together all night.”
Melanie: She looked at him with what she was sure was a goofy grin on her face. “You made my wish.”
Philip: “I figured a wish that nice deserved to come true.”
So content and warmed down to her toes Melanie curled into him, her arms around his waist, her face buried in his chest, breathing him in. For a moment she let herself believe that everything was right and her Philip had returned to her loving her the way he did before the crash.

Why have I never seen this thread before?! Well I haven't posted in here much yet. I had to wait until certain things played out in the story before putting the deleted scenes so I wouldn't spoil anything. Since I am just about done with the story now, I can add more. I have a sweet phloe one to post next. |
