Prologue

FOREST
Since the events of "Mutual of Salem's Wild Forest", the group of teens, young adults, and twentysomethings had decided to go on annual camping trips. They had added a few new members: Gabi, Abby, and Chad. Everyone was sitting around a campfire.
SHAWN-D: Chels, remember that story you told on the first camping trip? The one about the hitchhiker? You got any more stories like that?
CHELSEA: Yeah, a few.
CHAD: What kind of story was it?
BRADY: An urban legend.
GABI: Urban legend?
BRADY: Stories that may or may not be true. They've supposedly happened to the friend of a friend's friend's friend of a friend whose friend knew a guy who knew a guy whose friend's friend's friend of a friend's step-uncle, twice removed, saw it happen.
CHELSEA: They're sometimes shocking, sometimes terrifying, and sometimes laughable at best. Bizarre stories about seductive organ thieves, toys with spy capabilities, or even spiders infesting a hairdo. Some are mostly true. Others, simple folk tales.
MIA: Tell us some of them.
CHELSEA: Okay. Where do I start?

Chapter 1 - The Hitchhiker

FOREST
SHAWN-D: Why don't you start with the one you told us a year or two ago? Some of us haven't heard it, and some of us don't remember it that well. Plus, I'm sure we'd love to hear it again.
CHELSEA: Okay. This story takes place at night. A man is driving down a dark road. He may be new to the area and a little unsure of himself...

NOTE: The following is a dramatization of the legend.

Sonny is driving in his car. He notices Theresa standing near the side of the road. She has her hand in the position to indicate a hitchhiker. Sonny stops his car in front of her. She gets in.
SONNY: Need a ride?
THERESA: Yes, please.
SONNY: Where to?
THERESA: 789 Lakeview Drive. I'll tell you when to turn. I haven't been home in a long time.
CHELSEA (VO, narrating): Our driver assumes she's a runaway and that he's doing a good deed by bringing her home. But, he notices something strange. She's very pale. The air around her is cold. And she's strangely quiet.
The car pulls up in front of a house.
THERESA: Thank you.
SONNY: You're welcome.
Theresa gets out. Sonny looks at the gas gauge on the car. He then turns back to make sure Theresa got in and notices something on the seat she was in.
SONNY: Miss, you left your...
CHELSEA (VO, narrating): He's alarmed to find that she's gone.
SONNY: ...scarf.
Sonny looks around, but doesn't see her anywhere. He gets out, scarf in hand, and goes to the door of the house. He knocks on the door. Moments later, the door is opened to reveal Shane and Kimberly.
SHANE: Can I help you?
SONNY: Yes, I hope so. I was giving a young woman a ride and she said she needed to be dropped off here. She left her scarf in my car, and I'd like to return it to you.
Kimberly, who now looks like she is about to cry, takes the scarf and goes into another room. Shane looks shocked.
SONNY: I'm sorry, is something wrong?
SHANE: You'd better come inside.
Shane showed Sonny in.
SHANE: That scarf belonged to our daughter, Theresa. She, um, she died about five years ago. She was walking home and got hit by a car about, oh I'd say a ten minute drive from here.
SONNY: I'm very sorry.
Shane shows Sonny a picture of Theresa.
SHANE: This was her a few weeks before the accident.
SONNY: That's her. That's the girl I drove.

CHELSEA: Our driver's young passenger was a ghost.
ABBY: Whoa! That was freaky!
CHAD: Totally.
PHILIP: Urban legends aren't just ghost stories, are they, Chelsea?
CHELSEA: No. Not always. Ghost stories are disturbing because they're about phantoms who invade our lives. But, there are other urban legends, equally disturbing, where the intruder is all too real.

Very creepy. Great way to get ready for Halloween!

Creeeeepeeeeee. Twilight Zone stuff. Love how you used Sonny and the Donovans in Chelsea's tale.

I get the feeling that André DiMera really likes Theresa. Is Theresa the new Mia? LOL.

LOL. Not quite, Kpatch. Nobody will ever replace Taylor Sprietler as my favorite Days teen actress. Jen Lilley is pretty good, though.

Just so everyone knows, anything sandwiched between ~~~ is a dramatization of an urban legend. Glad you're enjoying the story so far!

Chapter 2 - Hotel Camera

FOREST
CHELSEA: A common theme of urban legends is that you never know who's watching. And that comes up in this next one. Which is set in a hotel room...

Brady and Nicole enter a hotel room.
NICOLE: It looks exactly the same.
BRADY: Same room, same hotel. For our tenth anniversary, I wanted us to go to the exact same place we went on our honeymoon.
NICOLE: I just hope these aren't the same sheets.
BRADY: Well, I'm sure this whole room has been sterilized since then.
NICOLE: Come on, let's watch some X stuff.
BRADY: Oh, why not? It is our anniversary, and we are both adults.
CHELSEA (VO, narrating): As the couple watched a hardcore film, they begin to notice something a little strange.
BRADY: You know, the setting looks really familiar.
NICOLE: It looks like this very room. And that actor, he's got the same tattoo on his back that you do.
BRADY: Wait a minute, that's me!
Nicole looks closer at the screen.
NICOLE: It is. Hang on, that's not just you, that's us! On our honeymoon!
BRADY: There must be a hidden camera in here somewhere.
CHELSEA (VO, narrating): The two now frantically turn off the television and try to search for the camera.
Nicole looks up.
NICOLE: Brady, I think I've found it.
She points to a camera just barely visible in the corner of the room.
CHELSEA (VO, narrating): In another room, the hotel manager watches with glee as our young couple shoots the camera horrified looks.
The owner is Paul Mendez. He chuckles as he watches Brady and Nicole.
PAUL: Kids these days.

GABI: That's sick!
BRADY: There are worse. If you wanna talk sick, there's the kidney story that Chelsea alluded to earlier.
CHELSEA: Ooh, tell us that one, Brady!

Chapter 3 - The Kidney Heist

FOREST
BRADY: Okay, just to warn everybody, this one's pretty gross. so, this story occurs in basically any large American city. A traveling business man returns to his hotel after a long day of meetings...

Philip walks into a hotel room. He sets his suitcase down. He sits on the bed.
BRADY (VO, narrating): After a little while, he decides to go down to the hotel bar.
Philip walks down to the bar and orders himself a drink. He then sits down at a table. He looks up and sees Willow Stark looking at him. She walks over.
WILLOW: This seat taken?
PHILIP: No, not at all.
WILLOW: Mind if I buy you a drink?
PHILIP: That's very nice, thank you.
BRADY (VO, narrating): Alone, and in a strange city, a friendly face is a welcome thing. The two get close very quickly. Then, the young woman makes a suggestion.
WILLOW: How about we go back to my room and have some fun?
PHILIP: Sounds good to me.
The two get up and go to Willow's hotel room. Philip puts a hand to his head. He sits down on the bed.
WILLOW: Would, you like another drink?
PHILIP: No thanks, I think I'm just gonna sit down for a minute.
BRADY (VO, narrating): That doesn't last long, because soon, he blacks out. Our mysterious young woman had slipped something into his drink. When he wakes up, it takes a minute for him to figure out where he is,
Philip looks around.
PHILIP: Why am I in the bathroom?
He looks over and sees a telephone with a note saying "Call 911 or you will die". He looks down and sees that he is in a tub full of ice.
BRADY (VO, narrating): He feels are sharp pain in his back. When he reaches for it, he feels a huge scar on his lower back. He soon realizes that his kidneys have been harvested.

BRADY: Only a dash to the hospital saves his life.
MIA: That's sick!
GABI: Disgusting!
CHAD: You know, I heard one similar to that. But, it happened on a train. And the kidney wasn't what was stolen.

Oh my. Weird and crazy. Very imaginative tales and definitely getting my attention by using DAYS characters.

Chapter 4 - Caught on the Train

FOREST
BRADY: Why don't you tell us that one?
CHAD: Sure. It starts off similarly to the last one. A traveling businessman is on his way home from an out of town meeting. He's taking the train to get home.,,

Shawn-D, with suitcase in hand, is walking through a train. He gets to a sleeper compartment, opens the door, and walks in. He unpacks, gets comfortable, and sits down.
CHAD (VO, narrating): He tries to relax, but can't. He's too stressed out. So, he decides to go to the bar car.
At the bar car, Shawn-D is at the counter. Jan Spears walks up to him.
JAN: Hey. How you doin'?
SHAWN-D: Okay. Pretty tired. It's been a long week.
JAN: Mind if I buy you a drink?
SHAWN-D: I don't mind.
Jan does so and the two sit down.
JAN: So, are you married?
SHAWN-D: Yeah.
JAN: Well, I won't tell anyone if you don't.
CHAD (VO, narrating): A few drinks later, our businessman's judgement is not in top form.
JAN: I just got a great idea. Why don't we go back to my compartment for a little nightcap?
SHAWN-D: Sounds good to me.
The two walk off to a compartment.
CHAD (VO, narrating): The legend doesn't say what happens that night, but you can probably guess. The next morning, it takes our businessman a few minutes to realize what happened last night.
SHAWN-D: Hey, where's that girl?
Shawn-D gets out of bed.
SHAWN-D: And, more importantly, where's all my stuff?
CHAD (VO, narrating): But the young lady is gone. So are the businessman's wallet and clothes. Then, the train stops. The businessman looks out the window to find that he's not home, but in a train yard thousands of miles away. At the station where he should have gotten off, his wife is looking for him.
Belle is talking to the woman at the ticket window.
BELLE: And you're sure that's the only one coming in today?
WOMAN: Yes, Mrs. Brady. That's the last train coming in from Las Vegas until tomorrow.
BELLE: There must be some mistake! He has to be here somewhere! Oh, Shawn! Where are you?

CHAD: Meanwhile, our businessman tries to figure out how he'll get home and, when he does, how he'll explain this to his wife.
ABBY: He deserved that.
BRADY: Sadly, even in urban legends, not everyone gets what they deserve. A lot of them are lessons in life.
MELANIE: Lessons about what?
BRADY: All sorts of things. Cheating, carelessness, vanity.

Oh my. I wonder how Shawn will ever get home with no money or clothes. Definitely a lesson learned!
