Thank you guys so much for the comments. I'm glad you are enjoying the story. Next chapter we will start to see more of Chloe and Nathan's point of view.
What Happens in Vegas Stays in La
Philip got out of bed and went down to his gym to workout. He couldn’t sleep last night. Maybe it wasn’t a good idea to insist Stephanie sleep in his bed. It was hard for him to lie there. He’s never just slept with a woman and nothing happened between them at all. Then she had to roll over and face him at night. He watched her as her beautiful brown hair cascaded down the pillow. Her face looked like an angel’s so peaceful. Then her tank top had stretched down so he could see a generous amount of her cleavage.
That was enough for him. He had to get out of that bed right then and there. He ran on his treadmill for a while to clear his mind. He wanted to think of something besides what happened this weekend. That was damn near impossible though. He knew once Stephanie got up they would have to come up with a story. They were going to stick to that story no matter what happened.
After running a few miles, he cuts off the treadmill and goes to the refrigerator and grabs a bottle of water. He takes a sip and sits down on the couch.
He cuts on the television it was 6am and Backstage was on. Backstage is one of the hottest entertainment shows in Hollywood. Most of the time they embellished the story and made it bigger than life. It didn’t surprise him that she was going after the wedding story.
“Good evening I’m Nicole Walker with today’s latest BackStage Exclusive. New details on Hollywood’s Most Shocking Wedding between Stephanie Johnson and Philip Kiriakis. Many sources have stated that this romance has been going on for a while, right under Ms. Lane’s nose.” Nicole said with a wink.
“bulls**t.” Philip yelled back at the tv. Nicole Walker always made his blood boil. She would twist your words in every interview to make whatever you said in that interview into whatever she wanted you to say. He was wondering who were these reliable sources? Of course she would never state them on the show. They probably didn’t exist. It was just the gossip rags ways of being able to publish whatever they wanted.
“Sources state the couple has been painting the town red lately. Last week they were seen at the Ivy having dinner and things got steamy.”
“We were doing wedding planning.” Philip said while running his hand through his hair. Wedding planning for what was supposed to be his real wedding with Chloe. He picks up his phone off the coffee table. He thinks about calling Chloe again. Her phone was going straight to voicemail so she obviously turned it off. He doesn’t blame her. He wanted to do the same thing. He kept his on and just choose to ignore the majority of the calls. He kept it on hoping that she would call him. She hadn’t so far.
He wanted to talk to her but he didn’t know what to say to make things right. He missed her terribly. After the hotel confrontation he decided to give her space. She needed time to process this all.
He had heard she isn’t back in LA yet. He wondered if she was still in Vegas. If she wasn’t in Vegas than where was she? Why hadn’t she called him or anybody back home?
“Numerous reports have been coming in about the wedding this weekend. We will have some telling interviews from the hotel staff. Backstage is still trying to get in contact with Stephanie and Philip. We promise you, we will get the story here first.”
Yeah, you will get the story first. Whether the story is true or not will be the question. Philip cuts off the tv. He couldn’t get away from what happened this weekend. Everyone wanted to know what was going on. He couldn’t explain it he didn’t know what truly happened; he just knew he had to make people believe for the next year that this marriage was real.
“What are you doing up?” Stephanie asked him from behind.
“Couldn’t sleep.” Philip told her.
“Me either.” She stated and she takes a seat on the couch. He notices she takes a spot so far away from him. They’d have to work on this distance if they were going to make this believable he noted.
He scouts over towards her, and she gives him questioning eyes. He smiles and takes her hand and pulls her close to him. She is still tense against him and he laughs. “Relax. Mel is usually up before dawn. I didn’t want her to see the distance between us. No hanky panky I promise. Just a little cuddling.”
“I’m sorry.” Stephanie told him with a laugh. “Still getting used to this.”
“Me too.” Philip told her while rubbing his hand up and down her arm. “We have to get a story together on how this all started and stick to it.”
“What do you want to say?” Stephanie asked him while looking up into his eyes. “We are cheating whores.” She teased.
“That sounds good to me.” She laughs against his chest which makes him smile. He pulls her closer to him and continues, “I was thinking while getting ready for the wedding. I started to realize some of mine and Chloe’s views weren’t aligned. That started to make Chloe and I drift apart since we couldn’t agree on anything. While helping for the wedding, I started to see we had a lot in common. One thing led to another and we fell in love and decided to get married. This story of course is for our parents and our family. The media no comment.”
“Sounds good but they are going to question the disagreements since they didn’t see them.” Stephanie told him.
“My parents won’t they have seen the disagreements.” Philip told her. This surprised Stephanie because this was news to her. Don’t get him wrong. He and Chloe didn’t fight a lot but they did have their share of disagreements. It felt like the last few weeks they had more than their fair share. Chloe was becoming a bit of a bridezilla. He tried not to escalate the fights, because he knew it was mainly coming from her wanting that special day to be perfect. No one could have prepared them for what happened though.
“We have been acquaintances for a while but you know we need to know more information about each other to be believable as husband and wife. So I need to know more about what you like and vice versa. Like are you allergic to anything?”
“No allergies that I know of.”
“Ok, I’m allergic to-“
“Shrimp.” Philip finished the sentence for her. She looks up at him surprised. He didn’t like the other look of shock on her face that he knew something about her. “I do know quite a bit about you, you know, but I do think we still need to do this.” He averts his eyes away from her and starts with the next fact about him. “My favorite color is blue.”
“Mine too.”
“Favorite food?” Philip asked.
“If I could eat it all the time I would. Ice cream, I have a serious sweet tooth.” Stephanie said with a smile.
“Me too but I’d say pizza for me.” She nods her head in approval of that statement which makes him laugh. He goes on with the twenty questions game.
“Favorite Movie?” He asked. She leans her head back against the couch and smiles. This peaks his curiosity and wonders what she is thinking about. “What?”
“You won’t make fun of me, will you?” Stephanie asked him.
“I promise.” He said while squeezing her shoulder.
“Traditional girl here, I love some chick flicks Sixteen Candles, Legally Blonde, Pretty Woman, The Proposal, any 80’s teen movie.”
“Definitely the traditional girl with that.” Philip said with a good laugh. She nudges him with her elbow and he just keeps laughing.
“You promised.” She reminded him.
“Ok, Ok I’m sorry.” Philip told her and he tries to get serious.
“What are yours Die Hard, Rambo, Kill Bill?” Stephanie teased him.
“I do like good action flick and I do like those. My favorite would probably be Field of Dreams. Every time it is on I have to watch it.”
“You just keep surprising me Kiriakis.”
Philip looks up and sees Melanie walking into the living room. He can see she is eyeing them suspiciously but walks over anyway with his usual breakfast smoothie. She hands it to him with a straw.
“I heard you already doing your morning work-out, so I got up and made you your smoothie.”
“Thanks.” Philip said. He takes a sip from it. He can see Stephanie eyeing it. “You want some?” He asked while extending the cup to her.
“Sure I’ll try it.” Stephanie said while directly looking Melanie in the eyes while she took a sip. Philip could see the anger rising in Mel as she stared back at Stephanie. “That’s great. I think I’d like one of those.” Melanie doesn’t budge and gives a look as if she’d rather die than to do that.
“Mel, could you make her one?” Philip asked her. She stares back at him pleading with him with her eyes. He looks at her and tells her to come on. She turns to head back to the kitchen. He knew she was going to make it since he asked her, but she definitely wasn’t happy about it. He was sure he’d hear about it later.
“How did you choose her to be your maid?” Stephanie asked him.
“You know I never do anything traditionally.” Philip told her. Stephanie just laughs and leans her head back against the couch. He never said truer words than that.
“You can say that again.”
“Here you go.” Mel said while walking back into the room and slamming the cup down right in front of her. Stephanie rolls her eyes.
“Oh before I forget your father called last night Philip. He said that since you haven’t returned any of his calls, he decided he would just invite himself over for dinner. He said be prepared for him, your mother, your parents and your brother Steph. They will be here at 7pm. Don’t keep them waiting, he warned.” Melanie said before smiling and bouncing up the stairs.
Philip runs his hand over his face. It was so like his father just to barge into the middle of things. He knew that he wasn’t going to be allowed to be ignored much longer anyway. As soon as he got wind that he was back in LA. He was going to make his presence known and he was going to try to fix this situation in his eyes.
“Our parents, in the same room, for dinner tonight.” Stephanie said between deep breathes. Sure horror was written all over her face from this news.
“It won’t be that bad. I’ll have Mel make a meal. We will tell them what we just said and everything will be alright.” Philip said. He squeezes her knee to try to comfort her. Stephanie has her head in her hands still trying to process everything.
He tried to convince himself, that everything he just said was true. It was going to be alright. It was just dinner between the families. They could pull through this, and make them believe, they have something real between them. They had too.

They are in soooo deep. And I have a feeling it's going to get deeper. I am really looking forward to the family dinner. That should be awkwardly amusing. Thanks for a great chapter bradydiva06.
