I'm so sad. I don't want him to go.

I think he's on contract through December. That means he would still be on the air until probably April.

Days issued a statement yesterday that, due to storyline, he would be released immediately. So, even though he was on contract till December, I think he's going to be disappearing earlier than that.
Based on his tweets, is he going back to school?

I think he jumped the gun by making his announcement so far in advance of the date he actually wanted to leave. According to what I read Days is recasting (or has already recast) the role of Will. You can't blame Days for signing a good candidate when they had the chance. I hope it all works out well for everyone involved. I'm glad they are recasting -- Days needs a Will Horton.

According to the article I read Chandler will be on through December. He has finished filming. It sounds like the decision to leave was originally his but the decision to have him leave NOW was "mutual" because they found someone to replace him now and maybe didn't want to switch actors at a certain point in the storyline.
Weirdly enough, Charlie Sheen was tweeting about this saying Chandler was fired. I'll leave it to you to locate his tweets as - shocker - they are pretty obscene. Apparently they share the same management and know each other. I think Sheen is a weenie but he may be an honest weenie. I don't think Chandler was "fired" per se, Days just decided to let him go a little earlier than he originally planned.

I was hoping they wouldn't recast. So that maybe Sonny could get a real storyline and some personality. At the very least I hope they bring another guy into the picture, for some relationship drama.

I wonder if it's a short term recast to finish out a storyline.

I wonder if it's a short term recast to finish out a storyline. I read they let Chandler go early, his contract isn't up until December but they found the replacement and asked him to leave now...if it was to finish up a s/l seems they wouldn't have done that....I heard one of the possibilities is the guy playing Brent.....that would be weird.....

Originally when he announced he was leaving it was announced that the character would not be recast. That's why I'm wondering if it will be a shorter term recast.

I think it sounds like they've changed their minds. I can't see them recasting for a few months. I think Will and Sonny aer really popular and they want to capitalize on that. I think Chandler is great and am sad to see him go but there's always the chance that the new actor will be great also.
I didn't like Chandler when he first replaced the previous actor but now I think he's done a great job.

That's a shame. Is Chad going to be recast?
