I'm 56 and I just learned today that you can freeze lemons and limes.....Just throw a bag of them in the freezer and when you need one take it out and defrost in the microwave.....when I think of all the ones I've wasted through the years...oh the humanity...!!!!

Just so I have no exploding citrus, how long should I microwave the fruit? 10 seconds? A minute? I have taken your advice, Pallison, and frozen a couple of lemons and limes. The pressure is on!

I have not done it myself, but I would think a few seconds, maybe try the 10 and then feel it.....it would be interesting to see how long it took it to explode though......hmmmmm, do I have any limes and lemons around right now.... you can microwave an unfrozen one for a few seconds to make it juicier too......

Good question....I did some research and what I found is that the popular school of thought is that oranges frozen whole and then defrosted lose the proper consistency to eat. They become mushy and those little individual sack thingies fall apart.....lemon and limes are used for their zest and juice and not eaten like an orange so they are fine.......
