Most of the young people tend to leave after their contract ends. They usually want to go out and see if they can get into movies or prime time. Some return to soaps and some don't. Only Young and the Restless has been successful in retaining their younger actors. I think that is how the show has maintained the highest ratings they manage to keep the same actors playing the same characters for the most part, so fans get to see their favorites for a long time, even if they stop watching for years and come back, those actors/characters are usually still there. I like Y&R and they always seem to have good storylines for the adults and the young adults. I am sad that Phyllis is leaving Y&R. I wonder what she is going to be doing next? |

It doesn't necessarily matter about the storyline if they are ready to leave and try something new. I agree. While I think it helps, most young actors want to spread their wings and try other things. I can't blame them at all. You are so supposed to take chances and try new things when you are too young to be scared. I was much more adventurous when I was younger. They can usually return if they want to anyway. I've never been a big Chad fan so I'm not hurtin over it. I was starting to like him better though. I'm very surprised we didn't find out until he filmed his last episode. I wish him well. They did say they are bringing in more youth so we'll see what that means. I'd love to see some characters like Belle and Shawn return. |

It's so frustrating going from audition to audition and having to work on the side, but it's def worth it no matter what work you get out of it!!!!
