Congratulations to Arianne Zucker (Nicole) who received Performer of the Week honors in the May 17, 2011 issue of Soap Opera Digest.
Here’s the article:
Since EJ and Nicole’s wedding day, Arianne Zucker has walked a fine line to not let her alter ego look too duped by EJ sneaking around with Taylor. But none of that mattered when everything started to unravel after Fay died unexpectedly.
A shellshocked Nicole immediately broke down in her mothers hospital room, railing at everyone because she hadn’t been there. She was hysterical, demanding to know what happened, then overwhelmed by the reality of it all. Inconsolable, Nicole sat at her mother’s bedside, sobbing and hugging her dead body. “I’m sorry,” she whispered, damning herself for the way she treated Fay through the years. Though they had recently mended fences, Nicole couldn’t truly feel at peace, especially since her mother’s last words to her daughter were about a secret EJ was keeping.
Nicole needed her husband by her side, but Fay’s warning put distance between them. Then Nicole stumbled upon the truth -- that the secret was about Rafe -- and was thrown into a new tailspin. Distress was clear on her face: furrowed brow, worry in her big baby blues, faux smiles to try to cover her anxiety. Uncertainty permeated her every movement. She held her arms awkwardly, not knowing how to compose herself. Her emotions were all over the place; come hither with faux Rafe to pump him for info, then later snapping at her sister and asking for forgiveness in the next breath.
It was a wild week for Nicole, who sustained heartbreak after heartberak. And though her past deeds should make her anything but a heroine, Zucker masterfully finds a way to make you root for her by putting her alter ego’s damaged, Raw vulnerability on full display.

I really enjoy the fact that I always end up rooting for Nicole even though she is often the "bad girl". I am not sure if that's just Ari's portrayal or if that is the writers intent. Keep up the great work Ari! I'm glad to see her get some well deserved recognition.
