The Guessing Game!
Can you figure out who says what, and to whom?
“You don’t want to make a fool of yourself.”
“I don’t want your thanks.”
“What are you two whispering about?”
“I’d like to talk to you. In private.”
“I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
“I missed you like crazy.”
“You coming home now?”

The Guessing Game! Can you figure out who says what, and to whom?“You don’t want to make a fool of yourself.” Hmmm...Phillip to Chloe?? “I don’t want your thanks.” Phillip to Daniel. “What are you two whispering about?” No idea. “I’d like to talk to you. In private.” Chloe to Phillip. “I don’t know what I’d do without you.” Ugh, probably Phillip to Melanie. “I missed you like crazy.” Phillip to Parker. “You coming home now?” Parker to Daddy, I mean Phillip.

Chapter 20, Part 1
Philip was seated on the sofa staring into his glass of brandy. He watched the amber liquid swirl around in the glass and decided that this was the magic elixir that was going to help him get through the rest of the day.
Part of him felt like it was a mistake to stay. He was certain that no good would come of it. Every ounce of common sense told him that he was going against his better judgment, but how could he leave Salem without seeing Parker? How could he be in such close proximity a little boy he loved with all his heart, and not at least say hello? He couldn’t.
Seeing Parker might be difficult, but it would be a walk in the park compared to seeing Chloe. That encounter had the potential to be disastrous. And if Philip was truthful with himself, he was nervous about seeing her. Really nervous. She was the person he used to be closer to than anyone else in the world, and now, he had no idea what he was going to say to her, or what she would say to him. The best case scenario would be that they’d say nothing to each other.
He brought the glass to his lips and let the liquor float down his throat.
“Uh oh. Philip and liquor don’t mix,” Melanie said as she walked into the room. She took the glass out of Philip’s hand.
“Give it back, Mel.”
“No. You don’t want to be drunk when you see Parker.”
“No, but I definitely want to be drunk when I see Chloe and Daniel. Give that to me. I’m serious.”
Melanie held the glass away from him. “Um. Ya. I can see that. ... But I don’t care. And you can thank me later. You don’t want to make a fool of yourself, Philip. Not today.”
Philip knew Melanie was right. “Fine. Whatever,” he sighed.
Melanie sat next to Philip and reached up and brushed the hair out of his eyes. “It’s gonna be okay, Philip. I’ll help you get through this.” She took Philip’s hand and smiled.
“I don’t know what I’d do without you today,” Philip said, placing an arm around her shoulder. “Stick close, okay?”
“You don’t even have to ask,” she said leaning against his chest.
A few minutes later, Jennifer, Abby, Lucas, Hope and Ciara arrived together, and greeted Melanie and Philip. Brady arrived shortly after.
Maggie and Victor were socializing with the guests, but Philip clung fast to his spot on the couch like it was his lifeline. Melanie stayed beside him, keeping him company and offering moral support.
Finally, Daniel, Chloe and Parker arrived.
To be continued ...

Well, I got one right and one wrong so far. I am glad Melanie got the liquor away from Phillip. I'm sure it would have been easier for him but she is right that it would have been horrible to be drunk with Parker around.
Can't wait for tomorrow.

I'm glad that Melanie was the voice of reason with him here. I know it's gonna be hard, but alcohol doesn't solve anything.

2 for 2. Wrong that is. I got the characters reversed for the second quote and the person talking to Phillip wrong in the first quote!!

I'm glad Philip is admitting to himself that the hardest part of today will be seeing Chloe. I'm not sure whether it's good or bad that so many people are at Victor's house as Philip comes face to face with Parker, Chloe and Daniel. I can hardly wait to see how this family dinner plays out.

One more thing I forgot to mention. I'm kind of surprised to see Chloe and Daniel show up together. As far as I remember, they weren't ever really together or even living together. Maybe that will be explained later.

I have a feeling this will be harder for Philip than he realizes.
