Chapter 20, Part 2
Chloe stood in the doorway of the Kiriakis living room holding Parker in her arms. She and Jennifer exchanged bitter glares.
She didn’t see Philip at first, not until he got up from the sofa when he heard Parker’s voice. Chloe’s jaw dropped when she saw Philip standing there with Melanie by his side.
“Daddy!” Parker shook with excitement when he saw Philip. Daniel turned around, thinking Parker was talking to him, but the little boy wriggled out of Chloe’s arms and she placed him on the floor.
Even though he wasn’t really Parker’s father, hearing the boy call him Daddy was music to Philip’s ears. Philip dropped to his knees and Parker ran right into his arms. He couldn’t remember anything in the world that felt better than this. His eyes closed and he held Parker tight.
The room fell silent as everyone was riveted to the emotion-charged scene, but the two males who were center stage were unaware of the attention they were getting. Philip finally loosened his grip on Parker and leaned away so he could take a look at the little tow-headed boy. Philip didn’t know it, but he was beaming.
“Hey big guy. I missed you like crazy,” Philip said, rubbing the boy’s hair.
“I missed you too, Daddy. You coming home now?”
Philip felt his eyes fill with water when the little boy asked that question. Parker seemed to think that Philip was just away for a while and would be coming home again soon. It was in that moment that Philip realized he did the right thing by staying away and he probably should have stayed away longer. Seeing Philip only made the situation more confusing for Parker.
“Parker, angel,” Chloe walked over and took Parker’s hand, but avoided looking at Philip.
The sound of Chloe’s voice broke Philip’s thoughts. He watched her lead Parker away from him.
“Your Daddy’s right here,” Chloe said.
When she pointed at Daniel, Philip felt a knot tighten in his stomach. How could she say that right in front of him? How could she be so callous? She had to know how much those words would hurt him. Was it true? Was everyone right about how much she'd changed?
Apparently, Maggie realized it was time to break the tension. “Well, dinner’s ready,” she said. “Let’s all go into the dining room. Shall we?”

Awwww...such a sweet scene between Parker and Phillip. They missed each other so much. I wish they could just enjoy the day together instead of Chloe trying to tell him that Daniel is his father and Phillip is not. I think Chloe is trying to be cruel to Phillip in a way b/c he hurt her but it's definitely wrong. If I were in that situation, I'd want to try to work things out so Parker could basically have two dads and then explain it to him when he got older. Trying to cut the only dad he's know out of his life is just so wrong.
BTW - two for two in today's guesses. I hope on Thursday there is some interaction between Chloe and Phillip. I want to hear what she has to say for herself to Phillip.

I lost all sympathy for Philip right there. He did the same thing to Daniel...took his son and his wife...his family. Maybe this is a bit of karma for Philip, because he's not the only injured party in this. Daniel and Melanie suffered too because of his one night with Chloe. Well, Philip didn't take Daniel's wife and son. Daniel kicked them out -- unless you are talking about the act of the one-night stand itself. In that respect, yes, I agree. Well in all fairness to Daniel...his wife cheated on him and had a baby with another man. I think kicking them out is a very human response to that level of betrayal. There were far worse things he could have done. Philip pitying himself is not the same as having compassion for those that have gone through just as much pain as he has. But again it is human to only think about yourself - I just take issue with his complaints when this whole drama impacted and still impacts more than just him.

I still can't muster up the sympathy. I think of Daniel every time.

Ihave a feeling of sadness for both men neither one knew about Parkers paternity so now both have to come to terms with it and see what the future holds for all of them

They really need to only think of Parker right now.. Having 2 dads is not th end of the world. I believe even Daniel would agree that if Parker loves them both then they both can be in his life. This was a hurtful situation to all involved, so the best solution is no one else does get hurt.

I agree with you to an extent but I also think that most people in grief or pain like Phillip's often can't see beyond their own pain immediately. I do think eventually, Phillip will start to see that there are other people that were hurt besides him and Parker.

This was a hurtful situation to all involved, so the best solution is no one else does get hurt. And whether Daniel likes it or not he is connected to Philip. Even before Maggie married Victor, Victor was like a father to Daniel. It's not fair to Philip to expect him to stay away from his own father's home.

Chapter 21
“Well, dinner’s ready,” Maggie announced. “Let’s all go into the dining room. Shall we?”
The guests slowly made their way toward the dining room. Melanie touched Philip’s arm. “You okay?”
Philip looked at Melanie and she could see he wasn’t okay. There were tears in his eyes.
“Let’s blow this joint,” Melanie said brightly. “Let’s go to Buddy’s Burgers and get something to eat. It’ll be much more fun. ... Wait here. I’ll tell my grandmother we’ll see her later.”
Melanie turned around to leave the room and practically ran smack into Daniel. “Dad.”
“Honey, can I have a word alone with Philip?”
“Oh. Um. I don’t know. If it’s okay with Philip ...”
“It’s fine, Mel,” Philip said quietly, “as long as he doesn’t try to beat my brains out with a crucifix again. ... Save me a seat at the table.”
Melanie nodded and headed for the dining room.
Daniel took a few steps toward Philip. He wrung his hands as he began. “I just wanted to say that I’m ... sorry about the way things worked out for you.”
“No you’re not,” Philip said bitterly. “You’re glad.”
“Glad that Parker is mine? Absolutely. But ... glad about what you’re going through right now? No. Of course I’m not glad about that,” Daniel said sincerely. “It’s obvious ... that you’re in pain right now, and I wouldn’t ... wish that on my worst... on anyone. I’ve been there, remember?”
Philip shook his head no. “No. No you haven’t been where I am. Not even close. You have no idea,” Philip said, placing emphasis on the word no, “... no idea how I feel. You had him for the first two months of his life. I raised him for two years, sure as the sun rises that he was mine. Damn it, I still say he looks like me.”
“You need to calm down, Philip,” Daniel reasoned.
“I don’t need to do anything! You don’t get it, do you? I’m the one who loved him. I’m the one who took care of him night and day. I’m the one who wiped his nose, bandaged his knees, read to him, bathed him, fed him, changed him, dressed him. I taught him chords on the guitar, I played games with him, I slept with him, I comforted him when he had bad dreams. I,” Philip pointed his finger to his chest, “I was his father.”
“Then I’d say you were lucky,” Daniel interrupted.
“Lucky? Are you kidding me?”
“Yes, lucky. I expected to be raising Parker from Day One,” Daniel said defensively, raising his voice, “and I would have loved to do those things with him. If you wouldn’t have slept with my wife and cheated on my daughter, we wouldn’t even be having this conv....” Daniel closed his eyes, took a breath, and showed Philip his palms. “Look ... Philip, I don’t want to fight with you anymore. I know you’re hurting, and I know how much you did for Parker. He’s an amazing kid. And I know ... you pretty much raised him alone for six of those months. I’m well aware of that fact and I just wanted to say thank you.”
“Thank you??? I don’t want your thanks, Daniel,” Philip said with hostility. “I didn’t do it for you. I didn’t do it for me. I did it for Parker. And I’d do it all over again. Son or no son, I’d still do anything for him.”
Daniel nodded. “I know it. I just ....” Daniel stopped himself mid-sentence realizing there was really nothing more he could say. All he was doing was exacerbating the situation. So he patted Philip’s arm and went toward the dining room.
Philip took a deep breath, and followed Daniel in to dinner.

Wow. I'm amazed that Daniel remained so calm with him. I'm also glad that Philip got to vent some of his anger. He really needed to do that before he exploded and did something he would regret - but I think there's more that he needs to get out as well.

Daniel was calmer than I would have been. I feel for Philip, but it was his actions that has put him in this position.
