Did you know that you can "tag" someone, or mention them in a post so that they get a "notification" of the mention? Click the icon above the post box that shows the @ symbol next to a figure of a person. It's the 4th icon from the right (starting at the smiley). Click it and a box will open. Type the name of the member you want to tag and it will populate with their name before you finish typing. Click the name from the box and it will create a link to that member. Alternatively, you can place the @ symbol in front of a member's username, but it must be the username the member registered with. For example, kpatch's username is jkjpatch, so entering the @ symbol + jkjpatch will yield = Kpatch. |

Using a desktop browser makes tagging easier than trying to do it in a mobile browser. In the desktop post editor you can use the button to insert the link. In the "Quick Reply" box at the page bottom, you have to know the member's username. You can see it by hovering your mouse pointer over their name. After a few seconds a little box will show the @ username.
In the mobile browser, you have to already know the username (Or at least I haven't found a way yet to see it) and then you use the @ in front of it.

It has to be the username Ted Bell . That's what Uhsir meant when she said to hover over the member's screen name in order to see the user name. And no, it is not a pot shot. It is an attempt to be helpful. And UhSir, that was a great discovery about hovering to see the screen name. I did not know that! Thank you. |
