Eric and Vargas continue their discussion and Vargas says he isn't the same man and that he served 10 years on a 7 year sentence. Once he realizes where Eric is from he says he would love to be a part of the program. (Hope comes in during their conversation but doesn't really add much to it)

So Nick had something to do with the added years to Vargas' prison stay. Could it be because he stabbed Nick?
