I wish Nicole had stayed with Brady. By Nicole choosing EJ/Sydney, the show became really lopsided with all the stories happening over at the Dimera Mansion. The Kiriakises used to have Kate. Now the Dimeras do. They used to have Nicole. Now the Dimeras do. They used to have Philip. They used to have Chloe.
Even Sami who is a Brady leaned toward the Kiriakis side of the house when she was with Lucas. So she's now entrenched in the Dimera orbit and so is Rafe x 2.
Enough! Come on and right the ship Days. Spread the storylines around a little more evenly.
What do you think?

Every protagonist needs a good (well, good at being bad) antogonist. Stefano and now EJ are the only real antagonists in Salem. Back when Victor was bad, he helped ease the storyline burden and spread the focus around. But now that Victor is more or less a good guy, that only leaves the Dimeras. Unfortunately, everyone in Salem has to have someone they're "against" and the only one they're fighting is the Dimeras. I'd rather like to see some new bad guys come to town that aren't Dimeras.

Victor & Brady are bad guys that are good in soul... while DiMera's are bad guys that are bad in soul...As DD pointed out, this is the problem.. I say make Tamara Ava again, & bring back Vitali's......

Not only is there no balance to the show, it is risky for TPTB to have every story focus on EJ or Rafe. If one of those actors decided to leave the show it would be a mess for the writers to deal with. They would have to quickly come up with some new storylines.
Maggie seems to be one of the few who interact with the Kiriakis men. Even Daniel hasn't been visiting Victor lately. Yet another valid reason to bring on Justin's boys.

Hmph. I never thought about it that way, but you are right. And, Chad is now involved in Dimera-land. Inadvertently so is Abby. We DO need more balance. Whole lot of that balance fell off the scales when Phillip left us. Dagnabbit. Would be interesting if Brady were to become interested in Chloe again. That would set Victor a-fuming! But looks like Brady is going to fall either for Taylor (gag me with a spoon!) or maybe Mel. But honestly, I think the writers are just teasing us with Mel/Brady. She's going to be with Dumbo..I mean Dario like it or not...

With the exception of Tony, I've never found the Dimeras compelling characters. Stefano can be entertaining in a slapstick kind of way on ocassion and I enjoy Joe's performances but the character has never been layered. That is EJ's problem too. For all of the seeming attempts to make him one, it never took. The character may have been inconsistently written and there may have been infuriating attempts to have the other characters overlook his crimes and claim that he was a "good father" etc. but in the end, those who hated the character still hate him and those who loved him still love him - there has been no successful evolvement or layering for the character. He and Stefano are what I think of as cartoon/silent movie villains.... totally black hearted evil without a cause or motivation for it. I don't know why it has turned out that way but the Dimera villains have always lacked the development of other soap villains like the Kiriakises. And since I've made no secret of my intense hatred for EJ Dimera, I find the current Dimera dynamics and storylines the worst they've ever been.... so yeah, I agree it was a mistake to put so many Days eggs in the Dimera basket.

I just watched the episode where EJ and Stefano are told that Rafe died. EJ was almost gleeful. Even Stefano didn't act that way about it. Not that Stefano was sad about it but he wasn't acting ready to dance for joy about it either.

EJ is one of the most inconsistently written characters on this show. I feel like the writers go back and forth between making him a villain and a romantic lead. They need to pick one and stick with it.
I've never thought of the Kiriakis family to be villains. They were always gray characters imo.

I agree that they should be more consistent with EJ's character. Stefano has a heart at least.
The Kiriakises usually have a somewhat legitimate, at least to them, motivation for what they do. Or they just make bad decisions usually with their love lives. Victor was much more villanous when he first arrived in Salem.
