Chloe: Thank you for meeting me.
Brady: Any time. You okay? You look ...
Chloe: It’s okay, you can say it. I look awful, I know.
Brady: Chloe, it’s not possible for you to look awful, but you do look sad ... depressed.
Chloe: Of course I’m depressed! Can you blame me? I mean I hardly get any sleep. I hear my son crying in my mind all night long. Another woman is living with my husband pretending she’s his wife. And everyone in town is going along with the lie.
Brady: I’m sure it’s just temporary. Until Philip gets his memory back.
Chloe: Suppose he never does? That would suit Melanie just fine.
Brady: What are you talking about?
Chloe: Melanie is perfectly happy with the arrangement.
Brady: Are you sure?
Chloe: She told me so herself. And she took great pleasure in telling me some personal details about their life together.
Brady: Man. I’m stunned. That doesn’t sound like Melanie.
Chloe: I wish people would stop making her into some kind of saint. She’s not an innocent wounded little bird.
Brady: Well, we feel kind of protective of her because she had a tough upbringing.
Chloe: She’s not the only one.
He takes her hand.
Brady: I’m sorry honey. I can see how upset you are.
Chloe: Don’t get me wrong, Brady. I’m so grateful that Philip is alive, but ... I miss him so much. I almost miss him more now than I did when I thought he was dead. I’ve never felt more alone in my whole life.
Brady: I know this is a very rough time for you. If there’s anything I can do ...
Chloe: As a matter of fact, there is.
LATER, SALEM UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL, 3rd FLOOR NURSES STATION
Brady: Hey Mel.
Melanie: Brady! Long time no see. What’s up?

Thanks so much for the unexpected gift. I guess I am the only one that feels sorry for Melanie. (Guess that it because she is My Girl Mel) I am not happy that Brady is getting involved. I would rather have Philip and Melanie together.

SALEM UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL, 3rd FLOOR NURSES STATION
Brady: Hey Mel.
Melanie: Brady! Long time no see. What’s up?
Brady: Do you have time to grab a cup of coffee in the commissary?
Melanie: Sure.
They go over to the commissary, get some self-service coffee, and find a table.
COMMISSARY
Brady: So you’ve been pretty busy, huh?
Melanie: What do you mean?
Brady: I hear you and Philip are back together.
Melanie smiles.
Melanie: That’s right. We are.
Brady: Can I ask you a question? Why?
Melanie: “Why” what?
Brady: Why are you back with Philip?
Melanie: Oh. Um. You see, you know he has amnesia. He thinks we’re still married.
Brady: But that’s his problem, not yours.
Melanie: Oh you’re wrong Brady. I had to play along. It would be dangerous to his health to be told the truth.
Brady: I just don’t get it. You hate Philip.
Melanie sighs.
Melanie: No I don’t hate him. Not anymore. I did hate him. And then I forgave him. And now ... it’s weird. It’s like the past couple years never happened. He doesn’t remember it. He doesn’t remember the one night stand or Parker or Chloe. None of it.
Brady: But the past did happen. Philip just has amnesia. It’s not like he had a choice in the matter.
Melanie: Didn’t he? I mean his subconscious is obviously blocking out something he doesn’t want to remember and going back to a time that he does want to remember.
Brady: Why are you working so hard at selling this to me?
Melanie: Because. I like the way things are now. It reminds me of the way it was with me and Philip when we lived at Maggie’s. It’s sort of a second honeymoon.
Brady: Are you telling me that you’re in love with Philip again?
Melanie: Um. Yes.
Brady: Oh Mel. This isn’t a good idea.
Melanie: Yes it is. There’s nothing bad about it.
Brady: Except that Philip is legally married to someone else.
Melanie: Well he’s also legally dead. I don’t put much stock in the law.
Brady: Melanie, I have to tell you. I’m disappointed in you. You’re taking advantage of the situation. This is morally and legally wrong. I know it, and you know it too.
Melanie pouts and ponders.
Melanie: Did Chloe put you up to this? Look Brady, even if I wasn’t in the picture and Philip and Chloe got to spend more time together, that wouldn’t guarantee that Philip would want her back.
Brady: In a way, it would.
Melanie: What do you mean?
Brady: You know as well as I do that it doesn’t take much for those two to be drawn back together.

My shoulders just relaxed a little bit cause I know they are heading back to where things should be..or at least I feel it is going that way! I agree with DD! I thought he was going to be a little harsher. I cannot wait for the next installment! Hope you are having a great time jkjpatch!  |
