Shawn and Derek (VIENNESE WALTZ) – Thought #1: Military uniforms like that can make (nearly) any man sexy, 'cuz Derek was rocking the hell outta that thing. YUMMY!!! Thought #2: That dance was super short. Heck, they didn't even make it around the floor. Why is it so short this week?? The tiny bit they did was nice, but there really wasn't that much to critique. I think that was literally only about 20 seconds. *SHRUG* Whatever.
MY SCORE: 9.5 JUDGES SCORE: 10, 9.5, 10 = 29.5Shawn and Derek and Mark (SAMBA) – OK. That was hella awesome. It seemed to be split 60% Samba and 40% Tribal/African dance, but I still loved it. I would KILL to dance this routine. Shawn is seriously killing everything. She is either a wonderful student or a spectacular mimic. Either way, there's almost little difference between what she's doing and what the pros do. Get it girl!!!

Apolo and Karina (TANGO) – Where's Bo when you need him? This is HIS song!!! LOL. Apolo killed this one. I mean, he was just awesome. I don't know that the zip-line thing was really needed, but it was a fun entrance, so I'll give it to him. Plus, he is arm-tacular. Arm-tastic? I don't care. He's freaking hot.

I think having a male pro worked against them in this case. It just made Apolo's mistakes all that more evident. Apolo did OK, don't get me wrong, but he didn't EXACTLY match Sasha, so that made him stand out (in a bad way) to me. Bless his heart for trying, but I think he fell a bit short.

Kirstie was solid and there was nothing really WRONG with the dance. It wasn't stupendously spectacular either. Just a very nice, simple, dance.

WTH Kirstie??? Why didn't you rip those suckers off??? SIGH. Opportunity lost. As for the dance, it seemed a bit of a mess to me. I wanted to like it because of Tristan, but it was just a hot mess. Sorry Kirstie. Oh, and Tristan? You're still fine as hell. Call me!!
MY SCORE: 8.5 JUDGES SCORE: 8, 8, 8 = 24Kelly and Val (VIENNESE WALTZ) – For some reason, I did NOT like this dance. They seemed to be jumping up too much and they didn't feel smooth to me. Viennese Waltz is really pretty flat, it doesn't pop up like the slow Waltz. The popping left me very distracted. That, and the canary yellow Grecian look they were going for. How is that Military again? So confused.

Secondly: Kelly was, at times, really good in this. Her flicks were REALLY good and her footwork was well executed. Some of the partnering seemed a bit hectic, but I think that's what they were going for. In any case, I actually liked this one. And I'm kind of surprised by that.

looked ok, what parts I could see, and I think they did fine. Not fantastic, just fine.

I was surprised to see so much solo work from Gilles though. The partnering bits were only a few 8-counts. But is it harder to dance alone or with two people? Especially at that speed. The world may never know.

In a tux, it just looks like any other dance. Blah. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't awful, but it wasn't awe-inspiring either. Just blah.
MY SCORE: 9 JUDGES SCORE: 9, 9.5, 9.5 = 28Emmitt and Cheryl and Kym (SALSA) – OK. It has to be said. Cheryl and Kym look stupid. This is a H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E costume choice. No one looks good like that. Those head bands? TERRIBLE. They should die in a fire. Looking beyond the costume though, the dance was not my favorite. Emmitt did an awful lot of just standing there while the girls danced around him. He's an All-Star. He should be able to more more than that. Tsk tsk.

Melissa and Tony (QUICKSTEP) – OK. Let's get this out of the way. Tony looks ridiculous. Totally. Ridiculous. The dance, however, was pretty good. When Melissa's ballet can be contained, she does pretty well, and this contained it (to a degree). Her footwork was all wrong, which it always is, but the rest of it was decent. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it. I guess I couldn't get passed Tony's ridiculousness.

I thought Melissa was great and she worked well with/between both boys. The dance LOOKED tight and everything seemed to be where it should be. It was really, really good y'all.
