SALEM POLICE DEPARTMENT
Brady had been arrested, brought into the police station and was taken to a holding cell. Philip was sitting outside of Roman's office. Through the venetian blinds, he watched his father and Gene Briscoe, his family’s lawyer, in a heated discussion with Roman, Bo, and Abe in Roman’s office. If he concentrated hard, he could hear what they were saying.
Victor: I will not have my grandson going to jail. Roman: What about your son out there? Victor: You said yourself that his weapon hadn’t been fired. Roman: But he was carrying a concealed weapon. Actually, two of them. Gene Brisco: He has a permit for his gun. I am demanding his release at once! Abe: Fine fine. We can do that. But Brady is a harder case. His fingerprints are all over his gun, and the bullet they took out of Nicole matches the one fired from his weapon. Bo: And he was under the influence of illegal drugs. Roman: Not a good combination. Gene: Would you consider a plea deal? Abe: We might. Bo: Keep talking. Gene: Drug rehab in exchange for time served. Abe: He’s looking at a minimum of 5 years. Gene: I’ll give you one year in rehab plus two years of community service. Abe: Well, Brady’s had run-ins with the law before, and ... Victor: That’s our final offer. Abe laughed. Abe: It doesn’t exactly work that way, Victor. But I’d be willing to say yes -- if the D.A. agrees to it.
A few minutes later, the door to Roman’s office opened and the men filed out. Victor gave Philip a sideways glance but kept walking. Philip got up and stopped Bo.
Philip: Bo, am I free to go? Bo: If it was up to me, I’d lock you up and throw away the key for what you did to Shawn. Philip: You do realize that Shawn’s been having an affair with my wife. Bo: That’s the only reason I’m not filing charges against you. Get out of here. Philip: Thanks Bo.
SALEM UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL, NURSE’S STATION
After leaving the cop shop, Philip had no idea where to go. He needed to find Chloe, but he didn’t know where she was. He knew she didn’t have her phone with her. He knew she wouldn’t have returned to the cabin alone. And he knew the last place he saw her was the hospital. So he started by looking for her there.
Philip: Maxine, do you know where Chloe is? Maxine gave Philip an icy stare. Maxine: Listen junior, I don’t care who your father is, it doesn’t give you the right to go around beating people up. Philip: Could you save the lecture for another day, Maxine? I really need to find Chloe. From the other side of the nurse’s station, Philip heard someone say “She left.” Philip looked up and saw Shawn, dressed in his street clothes.
Philip: She left? Shawn, do you know where she went? Shawn: I do. But I’m not sure I should tell you. Philip walked around the nurse’s station desk toward Shawn. Philip: I really need to find her. Please Shawn, tell me where she is. Shawn: You have a hell of a lot of nerve asking me for a favor after you tried to kill me. Philip: I know. But I’m desperate. Besides, you owe me. Shawn: I owe you??? The hell I do. I’m still waiting for an apology. Philip: When hell freezes over. Maxine: Should I call the cops now, or should I wait to see who draws first blood? Philip and Shawn looked at each other and, little by little, they both smiled. Philip: Sorry man. I didn’t mean to bash your skull in. Shawn: Yeah me too, I didn’t mean to screw around with your wife. Despite the seriousness of the situation, the two boyhood friends laughed. Philip: So, are you gonna live? Shawn: Yeah, they just sprung me. Listen, I need a ride home, and, since you owe me, it’s the least you can do. Philip: I’d like to help to you out, Shawn, but I really need to find Chloe. Shawn: I know. Luckily, my place is in the same direction as Dr. Wesley’s house. Philip: Dr. Wesley’s house? Shawn: Yeah, Craig took Chloe home with him.

I'm kind of confused. If Philip did the shooting, why is Brady the one in jail? I think I missed something in there somewhere.

Love the fact that Bo is arresting Phillip because Shawn-D slept with Phillips' wife. Sure hope Belle & the baby and Nicole are alright. Wonder how Craig is going to react when Phillip shows up at his house looking for Chloe.

I'm glad that Philip and Shawn are getting along now. Inquiring minds want to know about Belle, the baby and Nicole. Something tells me Philip won't get a warm reception from Craig or Nancy. Eager to read the bonus chapter later today.

THE WESLEY HOUSE, THAT NIGHT
Chloe wanted to go to the police station to see Philip, but Craig wouldn’t let her. It didn’t take a specialist to see she was shaken, and he was worried about her fragile state considering all she had been through over the past few weeks. So he took her home with him.
Chloe found that very little had changed at the Wesley house. Nancy treated Chloe like she was 16. She read Chloe the riot act, and was furious that Chloe didn’t come to them. Chloe hadn’t told her parents that she was in town or what Brady had done, or that he had become a drug addict. At least her parents knew the truth now, including the fact that it was Philip who was trying to protect her. They finally knew that Brady wasn’t such a good guy, and Philip wasn’t such a bad guy.
Despite her parents’ anger, Nancy reminded Chloe that she was their daughter, and Craig and Nancy would always be there for her. They told Chloe she was welcome to stay as long as she needed to. With nowhere else to go, Chloe made herself as comfortable as she could in her old bedroom and in her old bed.
She lay awake in the darkness of her room, staring up at the ceiling she used to stare at all through her teen years, the ceiling she used to stare at while she was making plans and sorting through problems. Her problems always seemed insurmountable back then, but now they really were. In fact, they couldn’t get much more serious.
First, she needed to figure out a way to get Philip out of jail, even if telling the truth meant implicating Brady. She needed to file for divorce from Brady. She needed to know if Nicole was going to live. And she needed to find out if Belle was going to be okay, because she certainly didn’t want anything bad to happen to Belle’s baby because of her. And if it were Philip’s baby too -- no, she simply could not live with herself.
She tossed and turned in her bed wishing she could actually turn back time -- not to a few hours ago, a few weeks ago, a few months ago, or even a few years ago. If she could, she’d go back to 18, and she would do things differently. She would have been more open with Philip, she wouldn’t have given him reason to wonder about her feelings for him, she would have let him take her to the moon and she’d never look back.
A pitter-pat sound broke Chloe’s thoughts, reminding her that the Wesley house always creaked. ... There it was again! The tapping sound. Chloe sat up in bed to listen for the sound, and she heard it once more. It was coming from her bedroom window and she knew exactly what was causing the noise.
Chloe: Philip! She bounced out of bed, looked out her window and sure enough, Philip was on the ground below, holding a handful of pebbles. When she saw his smiling face in the moonlight, she opened the window and stuck her head out.
Chloe: Philip! You’re free. Philip: Shawn told me that Craig took you home. Chloe: Don’t move. I’m coming down. Philip: No, stay there. I’m coming up.

Love the homage to their teen years when Philip would toss pebbles at Chloe's window. Be careful Philip. You're not 16 anymore.

Oh why isn't this on Days??? This is what I wish I was watching.
Phillip throwing pebbles at the window made me smile too. Ah, the good ol' Days. I really hope nothing happens to Belle's baby. I don't want Chloe to be responsible for that.
