Chapter 1

Salem University Hospital



Roman: Wow, someone really did a number on him.
Bo: It looks like he was stabbed multiple times. Where’s Crime Scene Investigations?
Hope: I’ll go call them. [Leaves.]
Bo: Whew. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a murder this gory in my entire career. Have you ever seen this much blood at a crime scene?
Roman: Not a chance. So, what do you think, little brother? Hate crime? Crime of passion? Riverfront Knifer? Salem Slasher?
Bo: Could be any one of those.
Roman: I’d put Nicole Dimera and Melanie Layton at the top of the suspect list. They were the ones who levied sexual assault charges against him.
Bo: That sounds like a good start, Roman. I also want you to make a list of his appointments for last week and this week, his associates, his patients, patients’ family members, find out if he had any debts to a loan shark... you know the drill. Oh, and check the hospital security cameras.
Roman: I can tell you right now who he had his last appointment with.
Bo: Who?
Roman: His killer.
Bo: Right. Thanks for nothing.
Hope: [Returns] CSI is on its way.
Roman: Has anyone questioned the person who found him?
Bo: Not yet. She’s a basket case.
Hope: I’ll go see if she feels up to talking. Are you okay Bo?
Bo: Yeah, it’s just… Daniel had become part of our lives. Right now I’m thinking about Chelsea and Victor. I don’t want them to read about this in the Spectator or hear about it on the news. I want to tell them myself.

[Meanwhile, Chelsea steps off the elevator and sees the guard standing outside Daniel’s examining room.]
Chelsea: What’s going on?
Guard: It’s a police matter.
Chelsea: Did something happen?
Guard: Sorry, ma’am, I’m not at liberty to say.
Chelsea: Did something happen to Daniel? I need to know!
Guard: Look lady….
Chelsea: I’m the commissioner’s daughter. Let me pass.
Guard: Under no circumstances can you go in there, lady.
Chelsea: Please, I need to know.

[Chelsea pushes past the guard and enters the examining room. She stands there for a minute, not quite sure what she is looking at. She walks further into the room.]
Bo: Chelsea, you can’t come in here.
Chelsea [realizing it is Daniel who is on the examining table]: Nooooooooooooooooo!

Chelsea: No, I can’t leave him. Oh my gawd, what happened? What happened?
Bo: That’s what we’re trying to find out.
Chelsea: He’s dead?
Roman: That’s a fact.
Chelsea: No, not Daniel. No. This can’t be happening. It’s all my fault.
Hope: Sweetie, we didn’t want you to find out this way. I’m so sorry.
Bo: Damn it, where is CSI?

[Later, the same day]

Bo: Has CSI been here yet?
Roman: Not yet. They’re short-handed today.

[Victor enters the room.]
Victor: What’s going on here?
Bo: Victor! What are you doing here?
Victor: Chelsea called me and said I need to come to the hospital right away.
Bo: I didn’t want you to find out this way, Victor. I wanted to tell you personally.
Victor: My boy. Look what a mess they made of my boy.
Bo: I’m sorry, Victor, I know you’re Daniel’s godfather, but you shouldn’t be in here. This is an active crime scene. You’ll have to leave.
Victor: How did this happen?
Bo: We’re trying to figure that out.
Victor: I can’t believe this. Who would want to kill Daniel?
Roman: We don’t know yet, but we will get to the bottom of this.
Victor: I hope you don’t mind if I don’t wait for Salem’s Finest to figure it out. I’m going to hire my own investigator.
Bo: We can’t stop you from doing that Victor, but we ARE going to solve this case.
Victor: I’ll let you know what my investigator finds out. [Exits]
Bo: Damn it! Where is CSI?

[The next day in Daniel’s examining room.]

Bo: Any word from CSI?
Roman: They promised me they’d be here within the hour.

[Lexie enters]
Lexie: I heard what happened. I can’t believe he’s dead. This is all my fault.
Bo: Lexie, I’m glad you’re here. I can’t seem to reach Kayla, but we’re going to need clearance to question the staff about what happened here.
Lexie: Of course, of course, whatever you need.
Bo: Are you okay?
Lexie: This is just so hard. Not only was Daniel the best surgeon on our staff, he was also a good friend.
Bo: I know. There’s hardly anyone who he hasn’t touched.
Lexie: Well, let me know if you need anything else. [Exits]

[CSI enters]
Roman: Finally!
CSI: Wow, this is disgusting! It stinks in here. How can you stand it?
Roman: We need this crime scene processed immediately.
CSI: There’s too much blood here to do a thorough examination. I’ll scour the room for evidence, but we need to get this body autopsied right away. I’ll call the crime lab and get them to pick up the body.
Bo: How soon can you get us the autopsy report?
CSI: We’re really backed up right now. I’d say two weeks, maybe more.
Bo: Not good enough!
CSI: I’ll try to push this one through, Commissioner Brady. We’ll shoot for the day after tomorrow.

[CSI exits. Hope enters.]
Bo: Hope, did you get a chance to question Mary Beth, the woman who found Daniel’s body?
Hope: I did. And what I found out was very interesting.

Bo: Hope, did you get a chance to question Mary Beth, the woman who found Daniel’s body?
Hope: I did. And what I found out was very interesting.
Roman: What did she say?
Hope: She said she saw Nick Fallon. She remembered him from when he worked at the hospital as a physicist. I guess she doesn’t know that it couldn’t be Nick because he’s still in prison.
Bo: Actually, he’s not.
Roman: What da hell?
Bo: He got out on appeal. What did Mary Beth say about Nick?
Hope: She said he looked like he was in a fog. She tried to talk to him but he just kept walking.
Bo: Follow up on that, will you?
Hope: There's more. She saw someone else that night. A man who said he was looking for a patient, but it was long after visiting hours were over.
Roman: Was she able to give you a description of the man?
Hope: I have it here. I’ll go put this information into the database and see what I come up with.

[Two days later]

CSI: I have the autopsy report for you, Commissioner Brady.
Roman: What I want to know is whether the victim was restrained.
CSI: From what I hear, he never restrained himself. But he was drugged. We found a trace amount of anesthesia in his system. The same kind of anesthesia that was in his office. But that's not all, folks. Check this out.
Bo: Let’s see what you’ve got. [Takes the envelope and pulls out a folder]
CSI: Your doctor there was carved up pretty good.
Roman: Carved up?
CSI: That’s right. Check out the photo.
Bo: [cringing] Oh my gosh!
Roman: What da hell?
CSI: You couldn’t see this before because of all the blood, but Dr. Jonas’ chest was carved using a surgical scalpel. As you can see, someone carved the words “Dr. Perv” in his chest.
Roman: Someone? You mean the murderer.
CSI: Not necessarily. The carving was not what killed him. See this hole?
Bo: Daniel’s belly button?
CSI: That’s where he was run through with the sword.
Roman: What da hell?
CSI: That’s right. We’re working on identifying the type of sword based on the width and thickness of the sword’s incision.
Bo: Thank you. This has been very helpful. At least now we know where to start.

[One week after Daniel’s body was discovered]
Roman: I can’t believe that both Nicole and Melanie had airtight alibis for the night of the murder.
Bo: I know. I would have staked my badge on one of them being the killer. What about the Dimeras?
Roman: I have nothing that implicates them. At least not yet, but I’m going to head on over there later.
Bo: What are you holding?
Roman: These are all the facts about the Jonas murder. I’m about to fax this to Marlena so she can come up with a profile of the killer.
Bo: Marlena? I thought she was off the show.
Roman: She is, but the producers want us to mention her name every so often.
Bo: That’s different. Usually, once they’re gone, we never mention them again. What gives?
Roman: The producers think that if we talk about Marlena and John from time to time, the viewers won’t be as bitter about them getting fired.
[Roman exits as Hope enters]

Hope: You looked lost in thought, Brady.
Bo: Yeah, something is gnawing at me.
Hope: What is it?
Bo: As you know, we’ve been questioning all of Daniel’s patients. You know what each one of them told me?
Hope: What?
Bo: A couple of weeks ago, Kayla spoke to each one of them...each and every one of them, asking their opinion of Daniel.
Hope: Uh oh.
Bo: Uh oh, what?
Hope: She asked me about him too.
Bo: What did she say?
Hope: She said she was doing evaluations of her staff. I didn’t really think anything of it. Bo, there can't be any connection between Kayla and the murder. Can there?
Bo: I wish I knew for sure.
Hope: What are you going to do?
Bo: Nothing yet. And I hope I never have to do anything about it. What about Nick and that other man who Mary Beth saw wandering around the hospital the night of the murder?
Hope: Nothing yet, but I’m still working it. Do we have any other suspects?
Bo: Yeah, one. Check this out. [Pops a disc into his computer.] This is the hospital security video from the night of Daniel’s murder. See anyone you know?
Hope: Bo, is that who I think it is?

The Dimera Mansion

Tony: Roooooman, please, do come in. What is it that I can do for you?
Roman: I was looking for Anna. I wanted to ask her something about Carrie.
Tony: That’s odd. Anna is with Carrie in Switzerland.
Roman: I didn’t know she was still there. I’ll have to give her a call. [Walks over to a glass display case on the wall.] Nice collection of swords. Why so many?
Tony: Why so curious?
Roman: Just making conversation, Tony. It looks like there are a couple swords missing.
Tony: Or perhaps there’s space to add new swords to the collection. I'm quite busy, Roman. If there's nothing else...
Roman: Where's the rest of the family? Your father? EJ? Nicole? Are they home?
Tony: I suppose you want to know where we were on the night of Dr. Jonas’ murder.
Roman: As a matter of fact, I would be interested in hearing the answer.
Tony: Commander Brady, speaking for myself, I didn’t even know the poor fellow. What business of mine is his murder? Or is it perhaps that the Dimeras are on the suspect list for every crime your department can’t solve?
Roman: The Dimeras do have a track record.
Tony: And how many convictions?
Roman: There’s always a first time.
Tony: As much as I’m enjoying this inane banter, I do have business to attend to. I’ll see you out, Commander.

[Meanwhile, at The Kiriakis Mansion]

Henderson: Commissioner, please come in. Is Mr. Kiriakis expecting you?
Bo: No he’s not. Is he at home?
Henderson: Please wait in the study while I tell him you’re here.

[Bo snoops around the first floor]
Victor: Bo, what a nice surprise. What can I do for you?
Bo: A couple of things. I was wondering if your investigator came up with anything on the Jonas murder.
Victor: No, not as yet. I promise you’ll be the first to know. What was the other reason for your visit?
Bo: I wanted to talk to Philip. Is he around?
Victor: He’s at the office. What did you want to see him about?
Bo: Nothing important. I had a question about the tuxedos for the wedding. I’ll catch up with him later.
Victor: Bo, wait. Before you go...I am hesistant to tell you this...
Bo: What is it?
Victor: Actually, my investigator did find something.
Bo: Victor, you can’t withhold evidence.
Victor: It’s not that kind of evidence, Bo. My detective spoke to all Daniel’s patients and he learned that Kayla also spoke to them about Daniel a couple weeks ago.
Bo: Well, Kayla was his administrative supervisor. It doesn’t seem odd that she would be asking about him.
Victor: Kayla also came here and spoke to both me and Kate about him. I don’t want to speak out of turn. Kayla is, after all, Philip’s future mother-in-law, but quite frankly, it did seem odd to me.
Bo: What did she ask you?
Victor: She seemed to want to know about him personally, rather than professionally. I thought that was rather curious, but I chose not to pursue it. I would certainly hope she isn’t involved in Daniel’s murder.
Bo: Well, thanks for telling me about your investigator’s findings, Victor.
Victor: Oh Bo, one more thing while you’re here. When are you going to be releasing Daniel’s body for burial? As executor of his Will, I want to carry out his last wishes.
Bo: I’ll call the medical examiner’s office and see what I can find out.

Melanie [in a sing-songy voice]: Uh oh. The police are here. I smell trouble.
Bo: Nice to see you too, Melanie. I need to talk to Philip.
Melanie: He’s in his office. You can go right in.
Bo: Don’t you need to tell him I’m here to see him?
Melanie: Philip hates it when I DON’T announce his visitors. Soooooo, go right in.

[Bo knocks and enters Philip’s office]
Philip: Bo. What are you doing here in the middle of the day? Did we have an appointment?
Bo: Actually no. I hate to ask you this, man….
Philip: What’s up?
Bo: You’re my brother, and I love you like one….
Philip: Good to know.
Bo: Where were you on the night Daniel was murdered?
Philip: What, are you short on suspects or something? Why would I want to kill Daniel?
Bo: You tell me.
Philip: This is a joke, right?
Bo: No.
Philip: I’ll admit I didn’t always see eye to eye with Daniel, but mostly we were friendly with each other.
Bo: You still haven’t answered my question. Where were you that night?
Philip: I was home. I was with Stephanie.
Bo: All night?
Philip: All night.
Bo: And if I took out my cell phone and called Stephanie right now, would she tell me the same thing?
Philip: She’s right down the hall. Go ahead and ask her.
Bo: That’s alright. That’s all I needed to know.

[Stephanie sees Bo leave and hurries into Philip’s office]
Stephanie: What did Uncle Bo want?

Stephanie: What did Uncle Bo want?

Stephanie: Philip, you never told me where you went that night. And then Daniel winds up dead.
Philip: We’re not talking about this again, Stephanie.
Stephanie: Please Philip, just tell me you didn’t kill him. … Philip? … Please look at me … Say something!
Philip: Okay, fine. Daniel was a dirtbag and he deserved to die for what he did to you. I’m glad he’s dead and I’m grateful to whoever killed him.
Stephanie: Are you saying…
Philip: I’m through talking about this, Steph. Don’t ask me about it again!


[Salem University Hospital, that afternoon]

Stephanie: Ready to go to lunch, Mama?
Kayla: Just about.
Stephanie: It’s pretty creepy around here these days, isn’t it?
Kayla: It’s been a little distracting with all the police around here day and night.
Stephanie: I need to talk to you about something.
Kayla: Of course, baby girl, what is it?
Stephanie: I’m scared. I think Philip may have … murdered Dr. Jonas.
Kayla: Why would you think that?
Stephanie: Well, you know I ended up telling Philip about what happened with Dr. Jonas.
Kayla: I wish you hadn’t done that.
Stephanie: I know, but he knew something was wrong. I had to tell him. … Anyway, he went out that night … the night of the murder … and he didn’t come back until the wee hours. I’m not even sure what time he got home.
Kayla: Did you ask him about it?
Stephanie: Yes, but he didn’t want to talk about it.
Kayla: I see.
Stephanie: I don’t know what to do, Mama. I couldn’t bear it if I thought that Philip killed someone because of me.
Kayla: Sweet girl, you need to put this idea out of your head. You’re getting married next week and you should be concentrating on your wedding plans and nothing else.
Stephanie: I wish I could.
Kayla: I feel certain that Philip wasn’t the one who killed Daniel.
Stephanie: How can you be so sure?
Kayla: I don’t know. Call it a mother’s intuition. Do you feel any better now?
Stephanie: I guess so. But Mama, if Philip didn’t kill him, I get the feeling you know who did.

Bo: Let’s see what it says.

Roman: The most important piece of information here is that Daniel probably knew the killer.
Bo: I figured as much. You usually don’t carve someone up like that unless you were angry at them.
Hope: You usually don’t murder someone unless you’re angry at them.
Roman: Unless...
Bo: What are you thinking, Roman?
Roman: It could have been a hired killer who wants it to look like Daniel knew his killer.
Hope: A hit man?
Bo: You could be onto something, bro.
Roman: And who do we know in this town that hires hit men?
Bo: That would point the finger back at the Dimeras, especially with those swords missing from the mansion.
Roman: I would put Nicole Dimera back on the suspect list.
Bo: Hit men don't work for free. Roman, see if you can find out whether any large sums of money were withdrawn from any banking or investment accounts in the Dimera name.
Roman: I’m on it! [Leaves]

Bo: The swords from the Dimera display case weren’t the only ones missing.
Hope: What do you mean?
Bo: You know that knight’s armor that Victor has in the study? As I suspected, the sword was missing.
Hope: I didn’t think those displays had real swords.
Bo: They usually don’t. But Philip received one when he was discharged from the Marines and, I remember at the time, Victor told me that the sword was authentic. He was pretty proud of it.
Hope: And it’s gone now???
Bo: That’s right.
Hope: The plot thickens!
Bo: Between the missing sword and seeing Philip on the hospital security video, I’m afraid it’s pretty damning.
Hope: Have you spoken with Philip yet?
Bo: Yeah. He said he was home all night the night of the murder.
Hope: We know that’s a lie. But what motive would he have for killing Daniel?
Bo: I don’t know. I do know that we’ve got to find that murder weapon. Without it, we don’t have a solid case.
Hope: That’s true. All the other evidence is circumstantial.
Bo: There’s more.
Hope: What is it?
Bo: It’s about Kayla.

Hope: What is it?
Bo: It’s about Kayla. Victor told me that Kayla had been to the mansion a couple weeks ago and questioned both him and Kate about Daniel. And Victor said that the questions Kayla was asking had to do with Daniel’s personal life, not his profession.
Hope: We already knew that Kayla spoke to all of Daniel’s patients. Do you think that Victor could be trying to deflect our attention from Philip?
Bo: It’s possible. But we can’t ignore the fact that Kayla’s actions were suspicious.
Hope: You don’t think Kayla took the sword while she was at the mansion, do you? What would be HER motive for killing Daniel?
Bo: I don’t know, but I think it’s time to find out.

[The Chapel at Salem University Hospital, the next day]

[An urn holding Daniel’s ashes has been placed near the memorial candles at the front of the chapel. Seated in the pews are Victor, Kate, Lucas, Chloe, Bo, Hope, Chelsea, Ciara, Steve, Kayla, Lexie, Abe, and Theo, as well as dozens of hospital staffers. The extras are wearing black overcoats and holding black umbrellas. Victor rises and steps up to the podium at the front of the chapel.]

Victor: Thank you for coming today to honor Daniel’s memory. Daniel was not a religious man, so I thought that the hospital chapel would be the most appropriate place to hold this service.

I knew Daniel from the time he was a boy, and I was proud of the man he grew into, recent events notwithstanding. Even though he did not have a family of his own, many of the people in this room today serve as living legacies to Daniel’s memory: Bo Brady, Chelsea Brady, Kate Roberts, Theo Carver, and me, along with the many other patients whose lives he saved. I cannot fathom the evil that caused his brutal murder. I can only say that this world will be poorer without him. I will miss him. Rest peacefully, my boy.

[As the attendees file out of the chapel, Victor stops Bo and asks for a word with him.]

Victor: My investigator has unearthed another piece of information.
Bo: I’m all ears.
Victor: Not here.
Bo: OK, I’ll swing by your place this afternoon.

Victor: My investigator has unearthed another piece of information.
Bo: I’m all ears.
Victor: Not here.
Bo: OK, I’ll swing by your place this afternoon.

[That afternoon, at The Kiriakis Mansion, as Bo is waiting in the study for Victor, he sees the knights armor and notices that the sword is back in its place. Victor enters.]

Victor: I see you’re still fascinated by the medieval period. You probably would have been a knight had you lived in that era.
Bo: I’m glad I don’t have to do any jousting. What have you got for me, Victor?
Victor: Did you know that Kayla is the one who retained EJ Dimera for the sexual assault case against Daniel?
Bo: That makes sense. She’s a hospital representative.
Victor: As am I. And as a Hospital Board member, I can tell you that she didn’t retain counsel on behalf of the hospital.
Bo: Are you saying she retained him on a personal basis?
Victor: It would seem so.
Bo: Thanks, Victor.
Victor: Oh Bo, by the way, no one else need ever know about this. Kayla is family. This can remain between you and me.
Bo: That’s not how I operate, Victor. I’m the commissioner and I have to play by the book now.

[Outside of the mansion, Bo pulls out his cell phone]
Bo: Roman, I have something I need you to do. Get a court order to examine EJ Dimera’s files on the Jonas sexual assault case. I have a hunch we’re about to find out the motive for the killing. And there’s one other thing I need you to take care of.

[Guests have gathered for Stephanie and Philip’s rehearsal dinner. In addition to the regulars, Stephanie and Philip’s extended families are there. Jack, Jennifer, Abby, Jack Jr., Adrienne and Justin and their children are there. Kimberly is there with her children. Billie, Austin and Carrie are there. Shawn and Belle are there with Claire because Shawn is one of Philip’s groomsmen and Claire is the flower girl. Vivian Alamain is there because she is Philip’s surrogate mother. Even Henderson is there. The Johnsons and Kiriakises are greeting their guests as Bo and Hope arrive.]

Bo: I need to speak to you sis, in private.
Kayla: Now is not a really good time, Bo. We have guests....
Bo: Kay, I wish I didn’t have to do this.
Kayla: Do what?
Bo: I’m going to have to take you in for questioning.
Kayla: What for?
Bo: The Daniel Jonas murder.
Kayla: Are you serious? You wouldn’t do this to me now, little brother. Not tonight.
Bo: I’m afraid I don’t have a choice. Let’s go.
Hope: Can’t this wait, Brady?
Bo: It’s waited long enough.
Stephanie: Mama, what’s going on?

Bo: I’m afraid I don’t have a choice. Let’s go.
Hope: Can’t this wait, Brady?
Bo: It’s waited long enough.
Stephanie: Mama, what’s going on?
Kayla: Nothing, baby girl. We’ll be back in a few minutes.
Stephanie: Mama?!?



Roman: I want to show you something, Kayla. We seized EJ’s files from the Jonas sexual assault case. Why didn’t you tell us what happened to Stephanie? Why didn’t you ask for our help?
Kayla: Because it’s personal. It doesn’t get any more personal than this.
Bo: Now, I can understand why you would want to kill Daniel.
Kayla: Do you think I murdered him?
Bo: Did you?
Roman: You had motive and opportunity.
Kayla: I’ll admit I thought about it. I certainly wanted to kill him for what he did to Stephanie, but it wouldn’t do my family any good for me to be in prison.

Father Jansen: By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride.

[Philip and Stephanie kiss and the guests erupt with cheers. Philip and Stephanie make their way up the aisle toward the door. Roman stands at the exit. Philip extends his hand out to Roman.]

Roman: Sorry Philip. I’m not here to congratulate you. I’m here to arrest you.
Stephanie: Uncle Roman, no!
Philip: Arrest me? For what?
Roman: For the murder of Daniel Jonas.
Stephanie: Oh no. I didn’t want it to be true.

Roman: Sorry Philip. I’m not here to congratulate you. I’m here to arrest you.
Stephanie: Uncle Roman, no!
Philip: Arrest me? For what?

Stephanie: Oh no. I didn’t want it to be true. [Starts to cry.]

[Kayla, Steve, Victor, Kate, Lucas, Chloe, Austin, Billie, Bo, Hope, and Chelsea all make their way toward the back of the chapel and gather around Roman, Stephanie, and Philip.]

Philip: This is an outrage!
Roman: We have hard evidence that says you killed him. The hospital security camera caught you entering the hospital at around the time of the murder. Plus, you had the motive and the murder weapon. I snuck into the mansion while you were all at the rehearsal dinner and I found the murder weapon. I took it to the lab and ....
Victor: That’s illegal seizure, not to mention breaking and entering!
Roman: …And there’s no doubt....
Philip: What are you talking about? This is crazy.
Victor: Philip, don’t say another word. I’m calling my lawyer. [He whips out his cell phone.]
Roman: Philip Kiriakis, you have the right to remain silent....
Stephanie: No, Uncle Roman, please don’t....
Kate: Roman no, you can’t arrest him. This is wrong.
Roman: I’m sorry, Stephanie. … Kate, it’s out of my hands.
Kate: Wait. Philip didn’t do it. I’m the one who killed Daniel.
Philip: Mom!
Roman: I know you want to protect your son, Kate, but....
Kate: It’s true. I did it. And if you want proof, I’ll tell you exactly how I did it. That’s something only the killer would know, right?
Roman: That’s right. The killer, me, Bo, Hope, Ma, Marlena, Maggie, CSI….
Victor: Don’t say another word, Kate. Gene Brisco is on his way.
Kate: It’s alright, Victor. I’m ready to confess.

Roman: Tell us what happened.
Kate: I called Daniel and told him that I wanted to be with him one last time before he left town. I asked him to meet me at the hospital. We started kissing and we took off our clothes. I asked him to smell my perfume, but it was actually ether that I had put on a handkerchief. He became lightheaded, so I helped him lie down on his examining table. Then I took out the sword I got from the knight’s armor in Victor’s study [Hope and Bo gasp when they hear this] and I stabbed him.
Roman: Why did you do it, Kate?
Kate [looks at Philip and Stephanie]: Philip told me what Daniel did. I could accept him cheating on me and even on my granddaughter. But he went too far when he took advantage of the women my sons love [looks over at Lucas and Chloe]. No one gets away with hurting my children.
Bo: What happened after you stabbed him?
Kate: I was still angry. Very angry. I felt he hadn’t suffered enough, hadn’t paid for what he’d done. So I took a scalpel from his instrument tray and I ... I used it to write “Dr. Perv” on his chest. [The crowd gasps.] And the reason Philip was seen entering the hospital is that I called him because I didn’t feel well, and I asked him to come pick me up. He wasn’t involved. He didn’t know what I had done, although I’m sure he suspected it at some point.
Bo: What about the position of Daniel’s legs?
Kate: I put his legs in stirrups. I wanted to humiliate him for the way he humiliated the women he violated and cheated on, and for the disrespect he showed to my sons.
Roman: Kate Roberts, you’re under arrest for the murder of Daniel Jonas. You have the right to remain silent … Oh. Never mind that part. You have the right to an attorney…
Philip: Mom, no.
Kate: It’s alright, my children. Please don’t shed any tears for me. I don’t mind going to prison. You see, I don’t have much longer to live. I didn’t want to tell you, but I’m out of remission.
