Belle: Please. You have to promise me you won’t say anything about it to Philip.
Chloe: I don’t know, Belle. Philip is my friend too.
Belle: All the more reason you shouldn’t tell him. You don’t want to hurt him, do you?
Chloe: Hurt him? Me? I’m not the one who’s cheating on him.
Belle: Shhh. Keep your voice down.
Chloe: So it’s true? I was hoping you were going to deny it. Oh my god Belle. What happened? I thought you were so in love with Philip.
Belle: I am!
Chloe: Really? Then what are you doing in a hotel room with Shawn? Playing bridge?
Belle: It’s complicated. It’s like, here I am, married to this great guy. He’s attentive and sweet and handsome and successful and he’s crazy about me. He’s every girl’s dream.
Chloe: I know all about Philip, and what you just described doesn’t sound like a reason for infidelity.
Belle: I know. But ... then there’s Shawn. He’s my high school sweetheart and I have such a soft spot for him. He comes anywhere near me, my heart starts to race and I get lost in those electric blue eyes of his. I’m just drawn to him. Can you understand what that’s like?
Chloe: I guess so.
Belle: Chloe, have you ever been in love with two men at the same time?
Chloe: We’re talking about you, not me.
Belle: It’s awful. I mean, it may sound exciting, but it’s not. It’s tearing me up inside. I don’t want to hurt Philip, but I can’t tear myself away from Shawn either.
Chloe: You want to have your cake and eat it too.
Belle: I need your word, Chloe. Can you promise me you won’t tell anyone? I mean, it’s not like you talk to Philip all the time, right?
Chloe: Actually, I haven’t spoken to Philip in years.
Belle: Good, so you’re in, right? You’ll keep my secret? Not just as my friend, but as my sisterinlaw?
Chloe: You’re putting me in a really awkward position. That means I have to lie to Brady too.
Belle: I know. I’m sorry. But like I said, it’s complicated.
Chloe: Okay. Okay, fine. I won’t say anything.
Belle: Thank you!
Chloe: But I’m not gonna lie for you either. If Brady asks me anything ...
Belle: He won’t. He’s my brother. He’s not interested in my love life.

Brothers may not be interested in their sisters love life, per se, but you know this is going to come out! Especially if Belle makes goo-goo eyes at Shawn-D and Brady catches them. Of course, he may just beat the $hit out of Shawn and be done with it!

BRADY PUB

The night before the class reunion, the gang gathered at the Brady Pub for dinner and drinks and to socialize. Caroline’s staff put two square tables together to form a rectangle, so that all 10 of them could sit together at one large table. They were seated from left to right, as follows.

One side: Philip, Belle, Mimi, Kevin, Susan

Directly opposite: Jason, Chloe, Shawn, Cynthia, Penny


Mimi: Talk about a last blast from the past. It’s so weird being together after all this time.
Susan: Everyone looks the same. Only different.
Jason [rolling his eyes]: Genius.
Belle: Jason! Be nice.
Kevin: Well, it took 8 years for us all to be able to get together at the same place at the same time.
Penny: It’s a good thing they have a reunion every year instead of just once every 5 years.
Chloe: I’m just glad Jan isn’t coming.
Belle: I know. I lied and told her we couldn’t all make it again this year.
Jason: What do you mean she isn’t coming? She told me she is.
The stunned group stared at Jason.
Jason: Got ya!
Chloe: Very funny.
Shawn [leaning over toward Chloe]: I guess only some of us have actually grown up.
Cynthia grasped Shawn’s arm and pulled him back toward her.
Cynthia: So Shawn, are you married? Engaged? Seeing anyone?
Shawn: I guess you could say I’m sort of seeing someone.
Cynthia: Bummer. All the good ones are taken. You, and Philip ...

Philip whispered to Belle.
Philip: That’s news to me. Did you know that Shawn has a girlfriend?
Belle: I think he’s just trying to keep Cynthia at arm’s length.
Chloe and Belle glanced at each other.
Jason: I’m single.
Cynthia: Like I said ... all the good ones are taken.
As she ate a spoonful of soup, Chloe decided it was time to change the subject.
Chloe: This is delicious. I've really missed Caroline’s clam chowder. It’s been ages since I’ve had any.

The conversations started breaking off into small groups.

Philip turned to Belle and gently pushed her hair off her face.
Philip: You okay, babe? You look a little pale.
Belle: I do?
Philip: Can I get you something?
Belle: You’re so good to me. But I don’t need anything. I’m fine just the way I am.
Philip: Yes you are.
He nuzzled her cheek.

Jason: Hmm, so Chloe, I heard you say you "haven’t had any in ages," huh? If Brady isn’t satisfying you in the bedroom, I’m up for it.
Chloe: Jason, you’re disgusting. I was referring to Caroline’s chowder.
Jason: Same old Chloe. Still an ice princess.
Chloe: What are you talking about?
Jason: Philip told me you held out on him all through high school.
Chloe: I don’t believe you.
Chloe looked across the table at Philip, who was talking to Belle and didn’t hear what Jason said. He looked up and nodded at Chloe.
Philip: When does Brady get in?
Chloe: I was hoping tonight, but he called me before dinner and it looks like he won’t get here until tomorrow afternoon.
Kevin: I hope he beats the snowstorm. The Weather Channel said the Midwest is gonna be blanketed.
Jason: Thank you, Al Roker!
Mimi: Geez, I hope the class reunion doesn’t get cancelled.
Chloe: Well I’m going no matter what. I flew all the way from Vienna just for our class reunion and I’m not going to let some stupid snowstorm make me miss it.
Jason: Really? I thought you came all this way to see me.
Philip [jokingly]: Chloe, if he’s giving you a hard time, just say the word. I’ll take him out for you.
Jason: Ha! I’d like to see you try.
Philip: I may not be as fast as I used to be before I got injured in the war. But what I lack in speed, I make up for with endurance.
Jason: Is that true Belle? Does Philip last a long time?
Mimi: Jason!
Chloe: Philip, “word.”
Jason: Okay, okay, I’m leaving. [Jason rises from his chair, slightly shaky on his feet.] If I said anything to offend, I apologize. Chalk it up to a few too many shots.
Mimi: Wait, you’re in no shape to drive. I’ll drive you.
Kevin: I’ll go with you, Mimi. I think you might need a bodyguard.
Jason: Oooh, Kevin’s your bodyguard. I’m scared.
Cynthia: I’ll come too, just to watch. Jason is more fun when he’s drunk than when he’s sober.
Susan: I guess I’ll get going too. You coming Penny?
Penny: Yup. Great seeing you guys.
Susan: Good night. See you tomorrow.

One side of the table: Philip and Belle
Opposite side of the table: Chloe and Shawn

Shawn: Now this really feels like old times. The four of us hanging together. Only ...
Chloe: What?
Shawn: In the old days, I’d be on that side of the table and Philip would be on this side.
Belle shot Shawn a look and cleared her throat.
Belle: So Chloe, how long are you and my brother going to be staying in Salem?
Chloe: A few days.
Philip: All this way for just a few days?
Chloe: I’m rehearsing an opera, so I need to get back to Vienna. Brady may stay a bit longer if Victor needs him to.
Shawn: My grandfather tells me he’s doing a great job running Titan Vienna.
Chloe: He should be. He works all the time.
Belle: Brady always throws himself into whatever he’s interested in. It’s a trait of all you Kiriakis men.
Philip: Something wrong with that?
Belle looked at Philip and smiled.
Belle: No. I wouldn’t want you any other way.
She kissed Philip while Shawn seethed.
Chloe: Well, I guess it’s time to get back to the hotel. Could you drive me, Shawn?
Shawn: Oh. Um, how did you get here?
Chloe: Taxi.
Shawn: Oh. Sure. Why not.
Philip and Belle got up to say good night to Chloe and Shawn. Belle hugged Chloe, then Philip helped Chloe into her coat.
Philip: It was good seeing you, Chloe. I’m glad you came.
Chloe: Thank you, Philip. I am too.
Philip: Sorry about Jason. He’s my friend and all, but he’s still an ass.
Chloe: Don’t apologize. I wouldn’t recognize him if he didn’t act like a jerk.

Meanwhile, Shawn and Belle were whispering.
Belle: I need to talk to you. Alone.
Shawn: Where and when?
Belle: I don’t know.
Shawn: Tonight?
Belle: I can’t tonight. ... Tomorrow.
Shawn: Call me.

Philip: Ready to go, babe?
Belle: You bet. Goodnight Chloe. Goodnight Shawn.


SHAWN’S CAR

Shawn: You’re being awfully quiet.
Chloe: I don’t have anything to say to you.
Shawn: I see.
Chloe: On second thought, yes I do. What’s gotten into you, Shawn?
Shawn: Um, not sure what you mean.
Chloe: I mean, you’re having an affair with a married woman. A married woman who happens to be your best friend’s wife!
Shawn: I’m in love with her.
Chloe: Then get over it.
Shawn: It’s not that easy to get over your first love.


BELLE AND PHILIP’S HOME, THAT NIGHT

Philip was brushing his teeth when Belle entered the bathroom and put her arms around him from behind. He rinsed with mouthwash and turned around and kissed her.

Belle: Mmm, minty. ... Philip, can we talk about something kind of important?
Philip: Of course. Something wrong?
Belle: No. Not at all. I ... I’m ready for us to start a family.
Philip was taken aback.
Philip: You are? I thought you said you wanted to wait.
Belle: I did. And we waited. And now I’m ready.
Philip: Why?
Belle: “Why?” What do you mean “why”?
Philip: I mean why now?
Belle: I guess I’m just feeling the maternal instinct or something. I feel the urge to hold a baby and love a baby. Don’t you?
Philip: Hmmm. I’m not sure it’s the right time.
Belle: I thought you wanted kids.
Philip: I do. You know I do.
Belle: Then what’s the matter?
Philip: Nothing.
Philip walked out of the bathroom and got into bed.
Belle: Philip? Why did you walk away from me like that?
Philip: I just ... I don’t want to say something I’ll regret.
Belle: Regret? I don’t understand.
Philip: Look, I’m tired. I had a little too much to drink tonight, and ... this just doesn’t feel like the right time to be making important decisions like this.
Belle: Oh.
Philip reached for Belle and pulled her onto the bed.
Philip: Don’t look so sad. I’m not saying the subject is closed. Just back-burnered. Okay?
Belle: Okay. For tonight.
Philip: Hey. I love you.
Belle: I love you too.

Ohhh dear. Belle needs to talk to Shawn and now wants to start a family. I wonder if she is already pregnant and not sure of Who's the Daddy. If she is I hope it is Shawn's. Or she could need to talk to Shawn because she wants a baby and needs to makd sure it is Phlilp's. I like the first idea better. Tbanks for the great chapter Kpatch.
