Well, the Festival is over and I'm having a slight dislike of all things cupcakes....!!!! It was a lot of hard work and went ok I guess...the booths were smaller than the 10x10 we were sold; by a foot....and when you are talking about a foot in this situation, it is a BIG amount of space....then we (my daughter and I) had a really bad location at the festival....we were waaaay down at the end, near the humane society (so we heard barking and growling all day, lots of excited/angry/loud doggies...but there were a couple of cuties I tried to trade cupcakes for (thank goodness, they said no)) across from the bathrooms, next to homehealth that had a slew of little kids that constantly bumped into our tables and reached to touch the cupcakes (we usually wrap them individually but Friday night (I guess it would be Saturday morning but we had not been to bed yet) around 4:30 am we said "hmmmm, wrap these cupcakes up until time to go, or set our alarm and get an hours sleep...a no brainer as far as we were concerned), they were giving free soda and popcorn out at homehealth so they all generally made nuisances of themselves, behind us were 3 of the grouchiest, loudest talking women who painted gourds and knitted these huge weird rasta hats for whatever reason, on the other side was the nicest woman and her 2 daughters selling jewelry and purses and such, and was about the only bright spot of the whole ordeal (Jenny bought the cutest little purse from them), then BlueWave, our local boat builders slash buttholes, lined the curb with their stupid huge pontoon boats and speed boats...while setting up the guy went to back in one of his speed boats right in front of our booth, he wanted me to move my truck which I was unloading so he could park his boat, I told him nope, not going to do it....and told him to not block me in so he moved his stupid boat and I kept the truck parked there till he dropped the boat and left, no way was I going to have to look at his stupid boat all day, while people couldn't see us from anywhere cause of his boat, a girl has to do what a girl has to do.....oh, and then these boat buttholes turned their stupid music up to a vibrating volume of that stuff the kids listen to nowadays, but the 3 grouchy women put a stop to that, we all applauded them....I think one of them may have smiled just a little...!!! Despite the bad placement (meaning low traffic) we did ok.....in the pics the brown boxes stacked behind us are all full of cupcakes....we usually sell out, but this time we had 5 or 6 boxes left, which by the way, adds up to over $300 loss....We sent some cupcakes to the local fire dept., the local women's shelter and gave some to some of the people that had been really helpful during the day, like the cutest guy from a couple of booths down, who didn't do much of anything helpful except be really nice and friendly all day and looked really good standing in front of our cupcakes telling us how wonderful we were ;D....Jenny suggested we go do a cupcake driveby and bombard someones house with cupcakes and we all started making a list (my daughter, me and the two daughters from the booth next door), then one of the girls suggested we just pick random strangers at the festival to throw a cupcake at, which I was all for and made a few choices, but the mother talked us out of it...dang, a sensible person in every group...!!!! We did ok, and made some profit but I may be done with festival's for quite awhile...don't have any cuppies to do until next weekend, for my youngest grandson's BD party...will be doing the hamburger/fries basket ones and a Transformer cake......and the beat goes on.......

Thanks for sharing the story of your weekend. So much hard work and aggravation for you. But you sure make it into an entertaining story.

I wish I could have went and gotten some of your cupcakes! They look amazing!! If I remember right, didn't you have a rough go at the last festival because you had awful weather? It sounds like the Victorian Art Fair they hold in my hometown every summer. It is packed with vendors and hard to navigate but a lot of fun.

I can't even begin to imagine all the work in making this all come together. You really must be exhausted.
The cupcakes look fantastic! Wish I could have had one!

Thanks and yes, the cupcakes are good....I try to use only the best ingredients and only tried and true recipes.....I had several batches I made this time that I didn't think quite met my demands and didn't use them.....gosh, I'm still in salesman mode I guess..... ;D
And yes, at the last festival last fall, we had a freak storm within hours of setting up and it destroyed everything.....people were injured and alot of people lost even their canopies and tables and stuff....we only lost our cupcakes, and my camera, never did find where it blew to....3 people I'd never seen before were cowering in the rain, I invited them under our canopy about the time the wind hit and with their help (I'm a pretty good size woman, and I was lifted up a few times) we saved our canopy....there sure are some good people in this old world...!!! Anyway, this time the weather was beautiful, only had to keep moving the cuppies out of the sun cause they were melting..... But even with the problems (which are always more interesting to tell about) we did make money and it was above the amount we would accept as successful......so it came out ok...... Gosh, I'm still gabbing....!! Sorry....!!!

Exactly. It is like sitting around the kitchen table gossiping. I quite enjoy it. It is much better than watching Spongebob!!
