Oh I was sure you didn't mean him! I just meant that there are certain characters in general that people don't want to see killed off and if it happened, it would ruffle feathers. Unlike when Madison or Faye died or when/if Ian dies, or Taylor too. Those characters people don't really care much about or just downright hate.

I actually hated they killed Faye. I wanted Nicole to have her family. Taylor though...yeah...she could have kicked the bucket just fine.
I like deaths that cause impact...that many people on canvas care about.

How about stories where someone dies at the end? Like Wuthering Heights? I was thinking about some of my favorite movies. My favorite musical is West Side Story. When that musical became a hit, it was surprising because most musicals during that era were happy and light. This one was heavy and dark. Yes, Romeo and Juliet set to music. I've watched that movie probably 50 times. Maybe more. I always hope for a different outcome. Spoiler Alert: But alas, Tony dies. And I always want to know what's going to happen to the characters the next day. It always leaves me wanting more. One of my favorite dramas is Witness with Harrison Ford and Kelly McGillis. A different type of forbidden love story. The whole story can be summed up in one bit of dialogue where Ford says to McGillis "If we made love last night, you'd have to leave. Or I'd have to stay." Spoiler alert: They don't end up together, but it's a really satisfying love story against the backdrop of a police drama.

I love Romeo and Juliet...as stupid as Romeo was...LOL
I definitely don't need a happy ending. Not all love ends happy...
I like to watch/read stories about people with worse problems than my own...makes me feel better. I don't find comfort in reading stories with neat and tidy solutions. I know many like that as an escape, but that just ticks me off usually.
I like stories where people overcome adversity and survive. Survival doesn't mean they end up over the rainbow with their true love...survival to me sometimes just means making it to live another day, to move forward.

I like a moderate amount of angst, but like we were saying in another thread, I want a real love story. So many soaps mess with the couple before they even get going that it's hard to invest in them. So angst is fine, it's what makes the story interesting, but I want a happy ending. Not necessarily a sappy ending, but a satisfying ending. I totally agree..I like angst at the beginning but I think you can keep a couple together fighting against outside forces without pulling the couple apart. I like to see my couples fighting together!
