I'm glad Faith went to Nicole for help. I love that Nicole and Chloe are still close and that Faith and Nicole are close. I think it's 40 years also. I'm looking forward to seeing Faith's anniversary gift. I'm really enjoying seeing Phloe and their family through the years. Terrific story Kpatch!

FIESTA KEY BEACH, LATE AFTERNOON

Philip and Chloe sat on the beach, her head resting on his shoulder and his arms wrapped around her as they watched the tide roll in and out.

Chloe: You know how you said that you always felt like Claire was your daughter?
Philip: Yeah.
Chloe: I always got the feeling that Shawn was jealous that you had a son, and he didn’t.
Philip: Shawn really liked Wes.
Chloe: I’m surprised Belle and Shawn didn’t have more kids.
Philip: These things happen.
Chloe: Well I’m glad that at least Nicole finally got to be a mom. I was a little surprised that Daniel ended up being the one to help raise her child.
Philip: And then they adopted a couple more kids. Did it ever bother you that your best friend ended up with your ex?
Chloe: Maybe a little when I first found out. But Daniel wasn’t the only ex that Nicole had a relationship with. In fact, she had a relationship with all my exes. Lucas, Brady, Daniel. At least she never had one with you. Or did she?
Philip: You’re asking me now? After all these years?
Chloe: Well, did she?
Philip: You know my memory isn’t what it used to be. I’m not sure.
Chloe playfully smacked Philip’s arm.
Chloe: You’d better answer me, soldier, or else you’ll end up with sand in your shorts.
Philip: Whoa. No! No, Nicole and I were never anything more than friends. But you already knew that.
Chloe: Did it ever bother you that ...
Philip: That what?
Chloe: That Brady ended up with Melanie?
Philip: Whew. That’s a tough question.
Chloe: I guess that means it did bother you.
Philip: I guess it did bother me a little.
Chloe: According to Nicole, after they survived being trapped underground together, you know, when Salem exploded from the gas leak in 2012, Brady and Melanie were inseparable.
Philip: Yeah, well. I always wanted Melanie to find happiness. Just not with Brady.
Chloe: Philip!
Philip: It just seemed weird that he married two women who I loved first.
Chloe: I guess it’s a good thing that Belle is his sister.
Philip chuckled.
Philip: Sorry, I’ve always a little been competitive with Brady.
Chloe looked at Philip with mock surprise.
Chloe: Really! You don’t say.
Philip: Well he started it.
Chloe: You’ll never change, will you?
Philip: Hmmm, probably not. But you wouldn’t really want me to, now would you?
Chloe: Well I wish you’d remember to put the toilet seat down just once before I die. And I’d rather you stopped cluttering the house with high tech toys that you get tired of after 5 minutes.
Philip: Are you saying I have a short attention span?
Chloe: Well, you do.
Philip: Not when it comes to important things. Like you.
Chloe: That’s true. And no.
Philip: No what?
Chloe: No, I really don’t want you to change. I sort of got used to you after the first 20 years.
