"Chad is in a desperate place right now," says Casey Deidrick. "He basically has nothing to lose. The only place he has to go is up." Abigail is stunned when Chad announces that he wants to move in with the DiMeras, a family she deplores. "They keep butting heads about the DiMeras," explains Deidrick. "But Chad is starting to open up around her. He feels comfortable enough with Abigail to share with her this decision he's made. He's telling her so he can have moral support." While Chad and Abigail are moving his belongings into the mansion, they find housekeeper Mary cleaning Fay's bloodstains from the floor. "It's probably a bad omen to move in someplace and have bloodstains be the first thing you see when you walk in," says Deidrick. Stefano explains that Fay had an unfortunate fall. Kate is also on hand to welcome Chad to his new home, and he uses the opportunity to thank her for putting everything in motion by sending him his birth certificate. "There is some sincerity behind it," shares Deidrick. "Chad's pretty straight forward when it comes to that kind of stuff. Even though the DiMeras are a dysfunctional bunch, I think there was a moment at EJ and Nicole's wedding where he actually felt like he was part of a family. It helped change his mind about being a DiMera." Stefano is pleased by Chad's exchange with Kate. However, Stefano isn't happy when he overhears Abigail insisting to Chad that the bloodstain on the floor was a bad sign and maybe he should think twice about moving in.
