So heartbreaking. I'm glad that Chloe has Wesley and her baby to keep her going. If not for them I think she would have completely lost it by now. I loved the description of Wesley's looks.

SALEM
After her morning phone call, Chloe got herself and Wesley dressed, and they headed out to the same place they went every day. About a week after the news report about the crisis in Israel, Chloe took Wesley to Joann’s Fabrics in the Horton Town Square, and she purchased the same thing every day. She bought a length of yellow ribbon and cut it into seven equal pieces, one for each day she hadn’t heard from Philip. Every day since then, she went to Joann’s and purchased enough ribbon for one bow, always hopeful that it would be the last one she would tie around the old oak tree out front.
Every night, Chloe curled up in bed and smoothed out the sheets on Philip’s side of the bed. The sheets felt cold where they used to feel warm. It was now 10 days since she heard the news report, 10 days since she last heard from Philip. Where was he right now? What was he doing? What was he thinking? Was he even alive?
Chloe drifted to sleep as those foreboding thoughts ran through her head. Somewhere in the night, she had a dream, the same dream she’d been having for weeks now.
***Chloe’s Dream*** Opening Night of the Opera
Chloe was on stage in full costume, singing the libretto from The Merry Widow. As she glanced into the audience, she saw Philip seated front row center, in his military uniform.
Chloe: Philip! You’re back! Philip: Hi honey, I’m home. He rose out of the audience and ran onto the stage. As he reached the stage, he slipped on something wet, and he fell, like a baseball player sliding into home plate. He and Chloe looked upward. Chloe: Philip, watch out! Before she could push him out of the way, a bucket of blood came raining down on Philip and, as it did, he screamed and writhed in pain. Chloe: Nooooo. ***End of dream***
Chloe woke up from her dream, damp with perspiration and shaking with fear. She lifted herself off the bed and went to the bathroom to splash her face with water. She walked across the room and opened the glass door leading out onto the veranda to get some cool, fresh air. It was very dark out, the only illumination was from the moon and the stars and the distant lights in Salem harbor.
She sat on the lounge chair and looked out at the lake, gracefully dancing under the reflected starlight. She looked up at the stars and remembered another night on the moonlit veranda, a night very different from tonight.

The Noooo is from a dream. I am happy that it is from a dream and not preterm labour. I just don't like that she is having the same dream over and over. Guess tomorrow is when Chloe says Ah help. Thanks for the chapter Kpatch.

What a frightening dream to have over and over. I liked hearing about Chloe tying the yellow ribbons around her oak tree. Hopefully she doesn't have to tie too many more of them. The name of the opera can't sit well with Chloe right now...The Merry Widow.

That dream reminds me of the bucket of blood that fell over Carrie (the movie Carrie) and now you have me humming, "tie a yellow ribbon round the old oak tree"
Philip has to be ok & come home soon before Chloe loses it!

This chapter reminds me of this song:
So we've put an end to it this time. I'm no longer yours and you're no longer mine. You said this hill looks far too steep If I'm not even sure it's me you wanna keep. And it's been ten days without you in my reach, And the only time I've touched you is in my sleep.
But time has changed nothing at all - You're still the only one that feels like home. I've tried cutting the ropes and I let you go but you're still the only one That feels like home.
You won't talk me into it next time, If I'm going away your hearts coming too. 'Cos I miss your hands I miss your face. When I get back let's disappear without a trace.
'Cos it's been ten days without you in my reach, And the only time I've touched you is in my sleep.
But time has changed nothing at all - You're still the only one that feels like home. I've tried cutting the ropes, Tried letting go but you're still the only one That feels like home.
So tell me, did you really think... Oh tell me, did you really think I had gone when you couldn't see me anymore? When you couldn't...
'Cos baby time has changed nothing at all - You're still the only one that feels like home. And I've tried cutting the ropes, I let you go but you're still the only one That feels like home, yeah, You're still the only one that feels like home, You're still the only one I've gotta love. Oh yeah...

That dream reminds me of the bucket of blood that fell over Carrie (the movie Carrie) and now you have me humming, "tie a yellow ribbon round the old oak tree" Philip also got doused with a bucket of blood that was intended for Chloe at the first Last Blast dance. Hold onto the dream. There is a lot of meaningful imagery there. Is it just a jumbled nightmare or a foreshadowing of what's to come?

This chapter was intended for mature audiences.
THE VERANDA
Chloe sat on the lounge chair and looked out at the lake, gracefully dancing under the reflected starlight. She looked up at the stars and remembered another night on the moonlit veranda, a night very different from tonight.
***Flashback to a couple months after moving into the Lake House***
Philip and Chloe were in their bedroom getting ready for bed. Philip was unbuttoning his shirt and looking through the glass French doors at the veranda. He opened the door and went out onto the deck. Chloe followed him. Chloe: What are you doing? Philip: Thinking about a moonlight swim. He pulled her toward him. Philip: Want to join me? Skinny dipping? Chloe: At this time of night? No. And I don’t think you should be doing that either. Philip: Why not? We sectioned off a 20 foot radius just for that purpose. So we could have our own freshwater pool. Chloe: Maybe in the daylight. Philip squinted at Chloe. Philip: Afraid, Opera Girl? Chloe: No, of course not. Philip smiled and kept his eyes on Chloe as he peeled off his shirt, belt, shoes, pants, underwear, and socks and dropped his clothing on the deck. She watched him with surprise and amusement. Philip: Last one in’s a rotten apple.
Naked now, he descended the ladder. From the deck, Chloe watched him let go of the ladder and jump into the water below. He called up to her. Philip: Come on in, baby, the water’s fine. She hesitated briefly, but she never could resist Philip, especially when he was wet and naked. She mumbled to herself “I can’t believe I’m doing this,” before stripping and heading down the ladder to join Philip in the sea. Holding onto a lower rung of the ladder, she dipped a toe into the water. Chloe: Whoa, it’s freezing. Why didn’t you tell me? Philip: You get used to it in a minute. Philip swam back to the ladder and gently tugged on Chloe’s calf. Chloe: Your hand is cold. Let go. Philip laughed and teasingly walked his fingers up the length of her leg, fondling her buttocks and her genitals. He pressed his lips to her lower leg. Philip: Maybe you shouldn’t come in the water. Chloe: You took the words right out of my mouth. Philip: Just hang onto the ladder like that ... so I can enjoy looking at your naked body in the moonlight. Chloe: You’re incorrigible. I’m going back up. Philip’s eyes danced and he smiled slyly as he skimmed the water with his hand and started splashing Chloe repeatedly. She yelped and laughed. Chloe: Ah! Help! Stop that, Philip! Stop. I’m going to kill you. You’re in trouble now, soldier. Chloe released the ladder and jumped into the water. She grabbed onto Philip and playfully pushed his head down under the water. He popped back up laughing and he kissed her. She laced her fingers behind his neck and he floated backwards, holding her in his arms. Philip: See, isn’t it warmer now? Chloe: Mmm, much warmer. He held her tight with one hand while his other hand laved her breasts tenderly and he kissed the front of her throat. Chloe moaned softly and closed her eyes, dreamily basking in the warmth of his touch and the silky sensuality of the water. She tilted her head forward and kissed Philip’s waiting lips while she slid her hand down the center of his chest, to his abdomen. She felt his stomach muscles ripple and quiver at her touch. He reacted involuntarily when she stroked his manhood under the water. Philip: Oh baby, you’re driving me wild. Chloe: Isn’t that the whole idea of a moonlit swim? Philip: You knew? Chloe: You’re so transparent Kiriakis, especially when you’re naked. He laughed and they floated to the ladder and made their way back up to the deck. As soon as they reached the dry landing of the veranda, Philip impatiently grabbed Chloe from behind, nuzzling her neck and strumming her nipples. Her eyes started to close with desire and she spoke breathlessly. Chloe: Let’s finish this inside. Philip: Oh baby, I can’t wait that long. He turned her to face him and his lips urgently melted into hers. As he lifted her up, she wrapped her legs around his torso and Philip laid Chloe on the chaise lounge. With their minds lost in the heat of the moment and their hands probing each other’s bodies, his center was grinding against hers, demanding entry and having it granted. Her legs locked around his body, and she pressed them against his back to pull him deeper inside her. They moved as one, making love under the stars, two wet bodies entwined into one, pushing each other over the edge in a passion-filled explosion like none they’d ever known before.
***End of flashback***
Chloe could almost feel Philip’s wet skin, smell his hair, and taste his kiss. She smiled and closed her eyes and drifted into the most restful sleep she’d had in weeks.

Loved the flashback. Mmm...wet naked Philip. I really liked Philip teasing Chloe until she jumped in the lake with him. I hope Chloe can relive this soon in person with Philip.
