"I don't think any of us really know what is going on," shares Molly Burnett (Melanie). "Brady and Melanie as a romantic couple is unexpected, but there is something about it that kind of works, so it will be interesting to see where things go." The journey kicks off with Brady standing up for Melanie and advising Dario to leave Salem. Later, Dario overhears Phillip and Justin discussing the millions of dollars Melanie is getting in her divorce. "Melanie doesn't really care about the money," notes Burnett. "She wants the divorce settled so she can move on and start healing." Dario, meanwhile, is extremely interested in Melanie's new fortune. With the divorce finalized, Melanie pays one final visit to Parker. "It's awful," says Burnett. "She should not have gone over there alone and done that. It's very hard for her to say goodbye to Parker." Later, Melanie runs into Dario and is stunned to realize she feels an attraction toward him. "At the end of the day, Melanie is still a bad girl," smiles Burnett. "She's working on herself, and she has people around who are influencing her in positive ways - she's becoming a better person - but she's still a bad girl who likes that bad boy." Unable to deal with her new feelings, Melanie sees an opportunity to sabotage a potential romance when she spots Brady. She runs up and kisses him! "Melanie doesn't want another boy in the picture," Burnett points out. "So she wants Dario to think that she already has a boyfriend, and then she won't have to worry about anything [happening between them]." But what will happen when Melanie and Brady are left to deal with their own reactions to the kiss? Friends or Lovers? Is Days setting the stage for a real romance between Melanie and Brady? Molly Burnett has mixed emotions about pursuing a love story. "I go back and forth," she admits. "Brady and Melanie are such good friends, and that's something you never really see [in daytime]: a friendship between a man and a woman. It would be unfortunate to lost that friendship. " LOL, I think that quote from Molly sums up quite a lot of people's thoughts on quite a lot that happens on Days! Once upon a time during that brief period of time when I actually warmed up to Melanie and liked her, I would have been interested in seeing her friendship with Brady grow into romance over the course of several years, giving her time to grow up. At this point, I have no interest in seeing Melanie onscreen at all and definitely don't want her paired with a character I like as much as Brady. |

Thanks for posting karebr. I was hoping to find more information on this spoiler about Melanie kissing him. I wonder what both of their reactions is going to be like? I think they are going to head more towards a Melanie/Dario pairing rather then brady/Mel. I hope they keep their friendship intact. Like Melanie said, you don't get to really see that on soaps. Their friendship is refreshing IMO.
I also noticed yesterday when I was doing the dayahead that the wheels were spinning in Dario's head about Melanie's money. I think he is going to try to play her for her money.

I would prefer to see more Melanie & Brady friendship then any possible romance... especially don't want them to ruin the friendship!
Mel throws away a millionaire and a doctor for a possible jerk like Dario???

I've been torn on this issue before too. While the chemistry between these two is awesome and I think they would make a cute couple - I also like that fact that they have a friendship and that is it. Nothing more is expected from either one.
I think right now, Melanie definately needs to be on her own and figure out who/what she wants. I'm glad that she is pushing Dario away, but I hope it's not at the expense of her friendship with Brady. If the writers can do this right then them being a couple could be one of the best relationships we have seen in a while. They have already been through so much together.

I know there was pain and suffering involved in the marriage, but there was also some pleasure too. Who thinks Melanie deserves millions of dollars? That was a very costly one-night stand Philip had with Chloe.
As for Melanie with Brady, I have a feeling this is just for shock value. Otherwise, what would be Dovebar's purpose? (channeling PAllison here) I agree, Dario is quite a comedown from her previous relationships.

My sister-in-law is the queen of getting paid to be married. So it doesn't shock me Melanie will get millions from Phillip. My sister-in-law is the one who left and she got a remarkable settlement with her 1st marriage and the 2nd time around she is still dealing with it. She could be her own soap opera, every boyfriend she has turns into a divorce.

I know exactly what you mean. My step kids mom is the same way. Although, Melanie is NOT doing this for the money. I wonder if she is even going to take those millions, or if she is gonna try to take the high road like Chloe....Nah! I think she will take the money LOL

Hmmm. On one hand, I don't really like Brady/Melanie romantically because I think Eric is closer to 40 and Molly is just a bit over 20, and that's too big a gap for me. On the other hand, I REALLY hate Dario, so any combo with him is bad. On another hand (yeah, I've got lots of them), Melanie needs someone, but who could it be?? I don't know. I can't figure out a good match for her. Brady should stay a friend. I could see her having a school-girl type crush on him. Maybe that's the reaction. Brady's like "Hold up there, little girl." Melanie goes all ga-ga and starry eyed.

The end game is Melanie and Dovebar (very good kpatch..!!)....they are playing Melanie younger and younger so I just don't see Melanie and Brady being a serious romantic couple.....Melanie will fight her feelings for Digby all the while he is chasing her for her money.....Brady will see this and try to make her see it too....that will cause tension and so on and so forth.....
I just wish there was a more likable actor playing the guy......
