I found this posted over on the daytime royalty website and thought that it was really interesting to read. I'm not sure if this is where I should post this or not. If this is in the wrong spot please feel free to move it. This is not totally Days related but there are a few things in here that probably are and the ones that are not Days related pertain to the other 3 soap operas on the air.

Daytime Confidential: Summer Blind Items

It's been awhile since I offered up some Blind Items, and with only four daytime soaps left in production, I will have to attempt to be trickier than usual. Here goes!

Youthful Essences: For a long stretch of time this sudser wasn't even receiving network notes; now it is, and the overarching sentiment is GO YOUNGER! This doesn't bode well for a recently-returned vet, who could soon be on his or her way out, along with the actress or actor he or she shares the majority of scenes with.

Backburnered as Punishment: This soap's showrunners could care less how popular a certain actor or actress is. The thesp-in-question is reportedly being backburnered as punishment for speaking out. Way to put the soap first, vengeful execs!

Paging Bobby Ewing: The head writer(s) of this soap—which finds itself once again amid backstage turmoil—pitched a storyline that would basically say the last year's worth of story was all a dream. Yeah, because fans loved it so much when Dallas did that!


Making It Up Along The Way: This scribe hasn't written a long story in years. He or she makes arcs up week to week!

I Hate You, But I Have to Pretend I Love You: Fans wondering why their favorite couples have been separated for lengthy arcs on this soap would be shocked to know that the actors who play the characters simply cannot stand one another. Sure, there's been feuds and gripes before, but the bickering has reached the point of no return. One half of one supercouple has even begun lobbying for the return to the soap of a former screen partner, whom he or she also created soap magic with.

Jealous, Much?: This soap lead, who has driven story for the better part of a decade, is seeing green over a popular newcomer.

No Gay Today: A plan for this serial to attempt another gay story—to make up for the botched last try—was nixed before it ever reached the network level.

The jealous blindspot more than likely has to do with General Hospital and the fact that Michael Easton was brought onto the show when One Life to Live was cancelled and now he is eating up a whole lot of airtime on GH and is involved in way too many different storylines at one time. I'm guessing that either Steve Burton or Maurice Bernard is jealous of ME since they are no longer getting to be the center of the show like they used to be now that ME is on the show.

There is a lot of speculation that Days may be the one doing the whole dream storyline in order for Tomlin/Whitesell to wipe away all of MarDar's stuff from the past 8 months and so that they could go back to some of the stuff that was happening before the reset. I don't know how I feel about this because if they do this then Nicole would no longer be having her miracle baby. Actually now that I think about it I would actually rather see Nicole not be pregnant with EJ's baby and then she can have a miracle baby with Brady. I definitely would love to pretend like some of the stuff MarDar wrote like the egg baby storyline never happened. I also want to see EJ remain a Dimera. I would hate however to have to go back to where Lucas is still gone but I think that there is a way to work around the Lucas stuff and write it where he never really left.

The backburnered actor/actress probably has to do with Missy Reeves or even Matthew Ashford on Days since they have really been on the backburner alot lately since being reunited.

Just as I hit send, I realized this dream thing has a few too many holes. How do we explain Lucas' return? What about Lexie's death? Is Will still gay? The ONE story they got right could be erased?!? I don't like that at all.

I think that Days should start all over like Another World did and try again. I think they have run out of storylines and they keep getting rid of all the good actors and characters and will soon be left with nothing. Days needs a do over in the worst way possible....

So if Days is doing a dream sequence - then Sami & Rafe are still married, Carrie, Austin, John, & Marlena never really came back to Salem, Abe is still mayor, EJ is still a Dimera, Chad & Abigail are still together - and do I dare hope that means that Phillip is back? Which could possibly mean that Vivian is still in town with Gus and Daniel is not really Maggie's son and Maggie & Victor aren't married?

That's a whole lot to undo if my timing is right (and it very rarely is but.......neither is Days )

That would be funny if all that were true!!!! I am all for Jay reprising his role as Phillip!!!!

A dream wouldn't guarantee anyone was returning unfortunately. I can't see everything being a dream but maybe a particular character could have dreamed his or her story for the past 6 months or year.

The problem with a dream is it would put us back to having Nadia on the show and Chloe would be a hooker at that point and Vivian, Ivan, Quinn, Dimwit, and Taywhore would still be on scene.

That's why I could see someone's story like Brady's or Nicole's or EJ's maybe being a dream but not the entire show.

If Days had one good storyline that was worth watching, I would tune in everyday and watch, but nothing on that show interests me enough to want to tune in everyday. I miss they days with Days was so good and I just had to watch it and see what happened. Now, Days is boring and has nothing going on and I have lost interest and I never thought that I would ever say that about Days bc I have watched it for 27 years, but Days is boring and lacking good storylines. I am way over the mediocre storylines that the writers come up with.

I agree with you. They could only do it that way, but which one? Could you say a major character such as EJ? He would go back to being a DiMera, reverse him being mayor, erases the grief sex and is still married to Nicole. She could still get pregnant again but this time maybe be happily married.

Rafe & Sami could still be broken up but maybe over Rafe's infatuation w/Carrie instead and Will could still be on the out w/Sami because of working for EJ.. Not everything could be changed.

Because a lot of stories are intertwined, making one person have a dream would be too complicated IMO. And since EJ affects nearly everyone, that gets too messy. I don't know. Thinking about unwinding everything is making my brain hurt.

It would work better for someone like Brady who has been pretty isolated in his storyline.
