I read that Shelley Hennig's show The Secret Circle got cancelled. Sorry to hear that for her and her castmates. I heard it was a pretty good show, but I never watched.

I read that Shelley Hennig's show The Secret Circle got cancelled. Sorry to hear that for her and her castmates. I heard it was a pretty good show, but I never watched. Yes unfortunately it is true, The CW chose to cancel The Secret Circle despite the fact that it was their highest rated Freshman series, and the third highest rated series overall. The only explanation I can find is that because it aired directly after The Vampire Diaries (their highest rated series), they felt their success was a direct result of that and not on their own merit. Their was actually quite a frenzy on twitter last night after the announcement and the actually got We Want Secret Circle Season 2 trending world wide. They also started a petition for ABC Family to pick up the show. As for the actual show yes it was good not great, but definately had potential to get better. The pilot was excellent, but the next few episodes kind of lacked then it got good again and pretty much fluctuated alot. The show became pretty consistent towards the end the last 7 episodes were OUTSTANDING the finale was probably the best episode of the whole season and really left you wanting a second season. Shelley has already took to twitter to thank all the fans for their support. I am sad for her that show did not get a second season, because I really do believe it deserved it. But on the other hand I hope there are better opportunities for her in the future, hopefully on better networks with more adult roles. This could be a blessing in disguise for her. |

This is why I have a hard time watching new shows. I watched the first episode of this show and then tuned out. I actually faithfully watched GCB and I really enjoyed it and they canceled it too.

I feel that way too Mrs. M. I'm apprehensive to watch new shows as they sometimes get cancelled after a month or two.

I'm so sad about GCB. I watched that show live every week and loved every second of it. It was just so dead on! Every week I was all "I totally know someone like that!!" and I would laugh my butt off.
As for The Secret Circle, I never watched it. CW skews a little too young for me, so I wasn't interested.

I only watched The Secret Circle for Shelley, because she is my favorite. That being said I did end up enjoying the show, however it was strange initially to see Shelley play a 16 year old high school girl when on Days we saw her go to college, graduate, get a job as a Hospital Adminstrator, and become engaged twice. That is why I have conflicting feelings about the cancelation the show had the potential to be great, but there are also better opportunities for her on other networks plus a I hear alot of people saying the The CW's days as a network are numbered their ratings really do suck across the board. |

CW was great when they had shows that appealed to all ages (Buffy, Angel) but now they are too outrageous and seem to appeal mostly to teenagers. That's a pretty slim demo.

I am really not surprised that it got canceled. I mean the show was ok, but there was alot of bad acting on that show. Shelley was the only one that could act in mu opinion. I hate to see her lose her job, but I know she will bounce back and find another job real soon!! Putting a new show after a good show like VD isn't a smart move bc most people won't watch it.

I agree I think putting The Secret Circle right behind The Vampire Diaries was mistake, because people are questioning wether the reason The Secret Circle was their highest rated Freshman series was due to the Vampire Diaries. The show had really gotten good, and I feel they should have renewed it for a second season and placed it on another night to see how it faired. |
