Xander repeat talking to Victor about killing Philip and Philip stomping behind him. Amazingly Philip actually heard him. Philip wonders what their father would think about that. Xander quips that he doesn't appear to object. Philip mocks him as the pauper who became a king. He grew up in this house while Xander was the gardener. Victor taught him how to be a Kiriakis. He deserves to run the company. He goes to the safe and opens it. He says Xander is quaking in his boots about this. Xander reminds him this is not what it's about. Philip pulls a gun from the safe and offers it to Xander. If he really wants to kill him, have at it.
Philip tells him to take the gun. Xander warns him not to play games with him, it won't end well. Philip scoffs that he is all talk, the opposite of Victor. He runs around making threats but never follows through. Xander snatches the gun and aims at Philip's head. How's that for follow through?
Xander is not afraid to pull the trigger. He has done it quite recently. Turns out he still has a killer instinct when it comes to his family. Philip says he is his brother and Xander just wants Victor's estate to himself. Xander reminds him that Victor left everything to him and Philip's claim came out of nowhere and will not pass muster in court. If Philip persists in challenging his decision he has a death wish.
Philip says Xander is not turning over much of a new leaf for his family. Xander says he is doing this all for Sarah and Victoria. Philip points out that he will go to prison. Xander notes that at least Sarah would be cured. Philip correctly says that they don't know that, Rolf's cure might be snake oil. Xander has seen Rolf work miracles. Sarah deserves to be healthy and whole, and if it's a choice between Philip and her that's a no brainer. Philip says if it wasn't for Xander's mother she would be. Xander doesn't deserve the Kiriakis fortune and he doesn't deserve Sarah. He's not a real Kiriakis man. He's a low life loser and Philip will never consider him to be a real brother. But if he wants to go to prison and abandon his wife and daughter then go ahead and shoot.
Xander puts his finger on the trigger and pushes. Nothing happens. He tries a few more times. Philip says he was banking on there being no bullets. Maggie hated it being loaded. He played the odds and took the risk: that's a Kiriakis man who should be running Titan. Xander says so in other words he hasn't changed his mind about the law suit. His Mother is now his last hope. If she can't change Philip's mind he's a dead man.
Now Philip is upset. Xander tells him he brought Kate up to speed. Philip flips out and leaves yelling that this isn't over.
Xander is chatting with Victor. Maggie would be pleased that he listened about the bullets. He knows Victor would not want him to kill Philip and he hopes he will not have to. Kate had better persuade him or he will have no choice.

Xander would have actually killed Philip. I do not like how they are turning Xander this dark again, even if he can rationalize it being for a good cause.

Xander would have actually killed Philip. I do not like how they are turning Xander this dark again, even if he can rationalize it being for a good cause. Jay was Philip. And it was a shame he departed. This guy goes around as Philip, but the resemblance is completely missing. Another wild miscast. Much like when they brought in the "older teacher" type actor to play Tate. And the Gwen to Theresa switcheroo was about as smooth as a car crash but at least an outline of the character was followed to a degree in that case. But in all of these cases the ORIGINAL was far superior. This Philip lacks one ounce of subtlety. He would make a decent thug or standard issue bad guy but parading around as Philip is a joke. Like Stefan he just doesn't mesh right. And it doesn't help he is involved in a silly convoluted storyline. Inexplicable the way they have returned Xander to his ugly roots. And by the way I REFUSE to believe he is Victor's son. How the hell does someone contemplate violent tendencies when he has his own little baby now. Tone deaf show.

The version of Xander written during the strike, who would have not risked anything to go to jail and be away from Sarah and Victoria, bears no resemblance to this one. Ron stripped all nuance from him so fast.

Philip still seems unhinged.
