Quick recap.

Nancy is horrified that Joy spent the night with a married man. Joy won’t confirm or deny. She reminds her mother that she wasn’t even wanted and Nancy convinces her that’s not true. Joy goes for a walk.


A morose Johnny sits on a bench outside the pub. Joy walks by and gives him back his wedding ring.

Joy is not very respectful to her mother who obviously cares about her. But sex talk between a parent and a child is too queasy for words.

That said Joy desperately wants to grow up. And it occurred to me she reminds me of Ciara. Same rebel streak and vague loose cannon vibe.

Victor was a tough gnarl but funny as hell. But when he was with his granddaughter Ciara you could see the slightly softer side of Victor. Good grief do I miss his stinging humor.

Glad Joy returned the ring to Johnny. I guess they slept together but Days is being unusually obtuse about it.

To add to the above: Nancy keeps pushing Joy to say who she slept with. Joy eventually accuses Nancy of only wanting her as a bone marrow donor for Chloe. Nancy says they have gone over this. She's grateful Joy was a match but she loves her.

Nancy also compares the situation to her and Craig but Joy says that's different. Nancy says oh so you're not your father in this scenario. You're that horrible Leo Stark.

I was glad Joy mentioned having been born to give Chloe a bone marrow transplant. That is an issue most of us have wanted to see if we were to ever have Joy on air. It is clear that this has been an ongoing issue for Joy, not surprisingly. I'd like to see it explored a little more.

I kind of like the contention between Joy and Nancy. Chloe and Nancy had a similarly contentious relationship. Nancy has made a lot of mistakes as a mother, despite her best intentions. Very relatable.
