Marlena wishes Johnny a happy birthday and tells him that Allie sends her love. She got him a cupcake, made by Chanel, and he sets it aside. She can tell something is bothering him but he says he was up late blocking scenes and is tired. He mentions he heard that she was taking over the role of Charlemagne but she says only for a day. Leo talked her into it. She heard that Hattie walked out. Johnny tells her she also cursed the show before she left and has a flashback to walking in on Alex & Stephanie, assuming it was Chanel. Johnny thinks the curse is already working. She wonders why he thinks that.
Seth comes in and tells Marlena that he can’t wait to work with her. Marlena says all she has to do is take a nose-dive down the elevator. Bonnie arrives and Johnny asks her to show is Grandma around the set.
Seth complains to Johnny about all the non-professionalism on the set. Hattie walking off, Leo rejecting his rewrites & Faith & Arrow hooking up.
They start shooting the scenes. Marlena finishes taping Charlemagne’’s death scene and hopes they don’t have to shot it again. Leo tells her she is a one-take wonder. Bonnie tells her she should get a Daytime Emmy for her performance. Marlena has to get back to work at the hospital and Johnny comments it’s the job that matters. Marlena tells him that his job matters to. People count on him. He knows this, he is just tired. She wishes him a happy birthday again and they hug.
Bonnie wants to know if she can leave as well, but Leo informs her there are new additions to the script. She will be working with Seth who has a lot a lines for once. Johnny didn’t know about these changes but Leo assures him it’s been approved.
Bonnie is on a gurney covered with a sheet & she hopes she isn’t getting killed off again. Leo assures her she isn’t. Action is called & Seth’s character is on the phone discussing Charlemagne’s death. There is still more of the serum & Pine Valley hasn’t seen the last of Charlemagne. He wheels the gurney off.
Johnny tells Leo that Marlena has not agreed to take over the role permanently. Leo says since Charlemagne has returned from the dead a number of times, this gives them some future insurance, just in case.
Leo tells Johnny that Chanel has a question about a scene and needs to see him. Johnny says that they aren’t shooting any scenes with her today but Leo says he doesn’t know what it is about. Johnny leaves to find her.
Paulina comes in with Johnny’s gift and thought she would stay and give Johnny her best & maybe have a piece of cake. Marlena is chatting with Bonnie, but gets pages to the ER. Stephanie arrives with balloons, but Seth thinks she is the actress who plays Faith and wants to run some lines with her. She has no idea what he is talking about.
Alex tells Chanel he brought the cake and Johnny is on his way, so she needs to keep him distracted. Johnny walks in, Alex leaves and Johnny wants to know what he walked in on. Chanel says they were running lines. He says she is lying and he knows they were having sex. She tells him that is crazy. Johnny says he saw them together before and he followed her to Alex’s apartment & overheard them talking about how clueless he was. She tries to tell him that it is not what he thinks, but he says she is a cheating slut and can’t stand to look at her anymore and storms off.
Back on the set, Stephanie tells Seth that she is not an actor. Bonnie passes out birthday hats & Stephanie tries to avoid Alex.
Johnny walks onto the set and into his surprise birthday party. Alex tells him that Chanel did all this. She walks out and says ‘surprise’. He realizes what a huge mistake he has made.

I guess it's Allie's birthday too, right?
Big blowup between Chanel and Johnny. Poor Chanel is the one who's clueless. Hopefully Seth will tell Johnny that he thought Stephanie was Faith. He's the one who put the idea in Johnny's head that Alex and Chanel were going at it.

Quite a set up. Is it me or does Johnny make skeptical faces every time Seth utters a word? Seth is a pompous clueless piece of work albeit his acting on B & S today was a notch above his previous attempt.
Had to laugh when he thought Steph was Chanel. Steph, despite looking great today looks like a basket case.
Sorry Johnny finally exploded ( I was hoping he could hold it in longer) but this won't land well. Chanel can be pretty bitchy, and I don't see her letting this incident blow by without retaliation.
A lesson for us all. Jumping to quick conclusions is often fraught with errors and it is best to let things simmer before jumping the shark. Now Johnny has created a REAL problem whereas before there was really NO problem. Been there done that. Ha.
One final word. Marlena is a problem. It as if she hasn't fully washed the Hattie character out of her hair and we are left with an actor who is uncomfortably straddling both worlds.

The other wicked irony is that soon, as Johnny assumes his director role, he will discover Joy is actually a new cast member. Have to admit I am looking forward to the expression on his face when that comes down. And I don't believe Joy knows Johnny is the director.
Talk about an unraveling.
Tension on the set much. Weirdly and vaguely clever the way Days is interjecting real life drama onto the set of a ludicrous and frenzied over the top Soap where tensions run high.
Parallel universes intersecting and cross checking each other.
