Gabi dreams that Stefan arrives with flowers. He asks Gabi to take him back. Ava means nothing to him. Rafe wakes her from her dreams.
Stefan arrives with flowers but this time they are from her staff. Stefan tells her that he has filed for divorce.

Their best scenes to date. And I am willing to bet Ron did not write these sequences. He has certain talents and has the talent for caustic humor, but this was a layered sophisticated take.
OK Gabi has a warm dream about Stefan. At odds with her feelings of late. Conscious feelings at least. Albeit her anger at him reflects her still present passion.
Moving forward in what looked like a repeat of the dream Stefan comes in again with flowers. But slowly but surely this isn't as "sweet" as the dream even though it floats in the air in a similar manner.
As reality starts to nudge away the ethereal atmosphere Stefan finishes off the dance mentioning he is filing for divorce.
The scene was a great illustration of the gap between sweet dreams and harsh reality.
I hate to brag (no I don't Ha) but I remember seeing the movie "Mulholland Drive," spookily shortly after 9/11 and after the movie the people I attended it were totally confused. Somehow just after walking out of the theater I was able to unscramble the dream portions which were at the center of the movie. I am fascinated by the dreamscape/reality phenomena. And how they can sometimes strangely blend together.

Just when Gabi seemed ready to move past his indiscretion, Stefan asks for a divorce. Well, good. It's been a long goodbye.
