Seth Burns comes to see Kayla regarding the Body & Soul proposal to film at the hospital. He decides it is not in the best interest of the hospital to film there due to the legal & insurance liabilities. Kayla points out several places where Body & Soul assumes all liability, they will be shooting on a floor that is vacant and could make the hospital some money. So he changes his mind, but on one condition.
Kate meets with Kayla in her office and finds out that the proposal was accepted, but with one condition. Seth is wearing a doctor’s coat and enters the office. He tells Kate the condition was that HE played Dr. Blake Lamoray, the Chief of Staff at Pine View hospital. Kate leaves to tell the actor who was originally hired to play that part that he has been replaced.
Johnny shows up on the Hospital set and wonders why Bonnie looks near death. He hasn’t read the new pages yet so she informs him that she is being killed off. She was so proud to be part of the show and doesn’t understand why they are doing this to her.
Seth stiffly acts in character as he brings Hattie’s Charlemange into see Bonnie’s character Cassandra. Cassandra explains that she contracted a disease in Tangier to which there is no cure. Hattie gets emotional as Charlemagne tells Cassandra how much she will miss her.
Johnny gets new pages and tells Hattie she is done for the day. Hattie wishes Bonnie well even though Bonnie hates her guts at the moment. Seth complains that when Bonnie asks him if she is going to die, all he does is nod his head. He wants more lines but because he is an “under 5” character, it would cost too much for him to have any more lines. Alex, as Arrow, rushes in to see his mother. She is glad he is there and was afraid he wouldn’t make it before she died. He tells her she is NOT going to die. He just got back from a trip to the jungles of Iguazu where he found a rare begonia that will save her life. Bonnie breaks character to ask does this mean I’m NOT getting killed. Grinning all Johnny does is shrug.
At the hospital coffee station, Abe is thanking Leo for getting the new pages written so quickly and also being so discrete about them. Leo understand why no one needed to see them until Hattie & Bonnie did their scene together. Hattie approaches Leo & Abe. They want to know how the scenes went. Hattie said they were okay. She admits that she feels kinda sad that Bonnie is getting fired. Abe is glad to hear her say that, because Bonnie aka Cassandra isn’t the one getting killed off, you are.

Two funny moments for me.
1. Seth's character is Blake Lamoray, a spoof on Joey Tribiani's Days of Our Lives character on Friends--Drake Ramoray. 2. Cassandra telling Charlemagne that she contracted a disfiguring illness after moving to Tangiers, a spoof on the speech Dustin Hoffman's character on Southwest General made in the movie Tootsie.
And of course Days made fun of itself when Alex brought the begonia that will save Cassandra's life.
Hattie's getting killed off. Good. I guess that's the twist Kate was talking about. How about killing off the entire B&S cast.

Injects himself into the equation and proceeds to perform some of the WORST acting I have ever witnessed. Calling him "wooden" is almost a compliment. Ha. I liked the real emotions from Bonnie albeit overwrought but that is Bonnie for you. The flower thing was a "knee slapper." The twist with Hattie getting the boot was the tried and true "Soap Kicker," but I suspect she will linger on as well. Which is OK with me. As for Seth he looked familiar. The same Hospital executive from before which is a good thing. Gives the show some flow and heft even if he hasn't been seen since Craig took over I believe. And Johnny as director is a cool touch.

Maybe a quirk of mine but there is something life affirming when a character who hasn't been seen in a long-long stretch resurfaces.
That is how I felt when seeing Seth, the stuffy hospital administrator and Kayla's boss who showed up out of the blue today.
And I loved Kayla's comment that his stint as an actor (one of Days best jokes this year) will at least keep her free from him for a few hours. Ha.
I have said it before. I love big, huge casts. They don't have to be onscreen 24/7 but seeing familiar faces, even if it has been literally years in some cases, is a kind of balm for soul.
