Eric lets John’s call go to voicemail as he’s talking to Holly. He tells her he came back to Salem for Brady. Holly assumes he’s here to stick up for Brady, which makes sense, given what Eric did. Eric is confused. He’s here to offer support to his brother. Holly shoots back, saying that Eric can relate all too well to what Brady did since he’s been in his shoes. Eric asks what she’s talking about.
Eric doesn’t know what to say. He wanted to be the one to tell her.
Eric assumes EJ told her. Holly corrects him. It was Tate, who thought she already knew. But Eric, her mom, and her entire family have been lying to her for years. Her mother said the man who killed her father was just some rando who died, and everyone went along with it to protect Eric.
Eric insists they were protecting her. She was a child, and it was complicated. Her mother thought she would have fewer questions…
Eric says that they hated lying to Holly, but her father died before she was even born and…
Eric swears it wasn’t like that. It wasn’t planned. She was a child, and they were a family. Nicole didn’t want to ruin that. Holly asks if he’s throwing Nicole under the bus, making it all her fault. Eric insists he’s not. He didn’t want her to know what he had done. He loves her like his own daughter. He was afraid if she knew what he had done it would ruin their relationship.
Holly wonders what’s wrong with her mother. How could she ever get past what Eric did? Eric insists she didn’t. It took years, but eventually, she was able to forgive him. Holly tells him not to expect her to. She’ll never forgive him for what he did.
Eric isn’t expecting her forgiveness, but he wants her to know how truly sorry he is. Her father was a good man. He was Eric’s friend, and he loved him.
Holly leaves Eric standing there in tears.
*****
Eric sits alone on a park bench…remembering.
(Flashback to a conversation between Eric and Sarah)
(Back to present)
Eric pulls out his phone and calls Nicole. It’s late in Paris, and he wakes her. There’s something she needs to know.

Holly says she would still have her real father if it wasn't for Eric, but she was only conceived, by Chloe, long after Daniel's death and because he was dead. So no, she only exists because Eric killed Daniel.
I don't know if that would help though, so probably best Eric didn't point that out.
Holly was bang on. Nicole did all this to protect Eric, and she is a manipulator. How will they explain Nicole not rushing back to Salem to talk this out with Holly though?

I hope Holly never forgives him. It's almost worse that she'd been lied to all her life. Holly abused drugs though. Isn't that just as bad as abusing alcohol? If not worse? I thought the same thing carolineleg. Holly wouldn't be Holly if Daniel lived.

I actually loved everything Holly said Her calling out her mom and calling out Eric’s hypocrisy All of it I mean never mind the being an alcoholic Whether Eric drank or didn’t drink he’s still an awful person It was time for someone to treat him that way as marlena literally has all of Salem treating him like some sort of saint when he’s really kind of an ass

Eric received some mighty blows here. Will Holly change her mind?

Eric was not only an adult who should know better, he had also been a priest who counseled people!
And I don't remember...did Daniel and Nicole freeze embryos? Was his sperm frozen after he died? I'm fuzzy on the specifics.

I think the issue is that he lied and Nicole lied Not the abuse as such People fall into addiction all the time and it’s sad but it’s life and it’s a real battle Where was Eric with that relatable support when Holly recovered from an OD Maybe she might not have played with drugs if she knew up close the ramifications A lot of what ifs She was lied to and that’s her anger from my stand point

That if Holly knew that someone she loved killed her father because they were under the influence, it might change her outlook on casual alcohol/drug use. That neither Nicole nor Eric even thought to share that with her seems to me a sign of cowardice. It was just easier for both of them to continue to keep up the lie, even though sharing the truth could have been best for Holly who was then more than old enough to process it.

When Eric took his phone out after Holly left, I thought for sure he was going to call his mommy. LOL.

Eric and Holly had formed a bond long before she was able to understand what had happened so I understand Eric and Nicole's hesitancy on telling Holly the truth. And yes, as she got older, I can definitely see where telling her the truth would have been harder....
HOWEVER....
Holly still should have been told the truth. Nicole created the lie that the driver died and lied to Holly long after she was able to understand what she was being told. Nicole NEVER should have told her that. She could have come up with some explanation and gave partial truth to what happened without revealing that it was Eric until later.
Holly gets on my nerves, but I loved her calling Eric and Nicole out and how Nicole would ALWAYS protect Eric over everyone else....no matter what he did. I'm sure at some point Holly will forgive him because he is "Saint Eric, son of beloved Saint Marlena" (blech!) but I hope it's years down the line.
I hope the one thing that really comes out of this is that she finds out that Daniel's heart lives on in Brady and then she reams him out for his drinking and almost throwing away the one thing that she has left of her dad. I WANT her to guilt Brady on his drinking and about how his actions (even tho he didn't really drive but he's wanted to several times now) matched those of his brother who cost her her chance to get to know her dad.
