Tate shares with John that he hadn’t planned to tell Holly about Eric, but they were talking about his Dad, and it just slipped out. He honestly thought she knew, but she was blindsided and horrified. Tate feels awful. John tells him not to be so hard on himself. He didn’t know it was news to Holly, and it was bound to come out at some point.
John tries to call Eric to give him a heads-up, but it goes to voicemail. Tate apologizes again. John reminds him that it’s not his fault. He didn’t know Holly was being kept in the dark about this. But how did Tate find out? Tate shares that he overheard his Mom and Grandma Kimberly discussing it. He just thought it was one of those family secrets that everyone knows but no one talks about. He had no idea that Nicole never told Holly the truth. He always assumed she knew.
Tate is worried. He’s never seen Holly so upset. John tells him to give Holly some time. She needs to process this, but she’ll reach out to him when she’s ready. Tate doesn’t know about that. She’s furious with him. They were in the middle of a big fight. Holly doesn’t like that he’s defending his Dad. Sarah is her aunt, and Holly doesn’t understand how he can stand by Brady after what he’s done.
John says they can’t blame Holly for the way she feels. Sarah is her aunt, and given the fact that her own father was taken away from her under similar circumstances, it makes sense that she would have developed some very strong opinions about drunk drivers.
Tate gets that. And what Brady did is terrible and wrong, but he’s in hell over it. Tate won’t turn his back on his father when he needs him the most. John agrees. Brady is his father, and Tate loves him. Just like John loves his son, no matter what. They are all in this together. Plus, John has a feeling there’s more to this story. Tate asks if John thinks Brady could be innocent.
John isn’t saying that, but Brady doesn’t remember anything. There could be mitigating factors that played into the accident. But either way, Tate shouldn’t feel guilty for standing by his father. There’s nothing Brady could do that would make John stop loving him.
John and Tate watch baseball, but Tate can’t stop thinking of Holly. John says it couldn’t hurt to check in on her and let her know that Tate is there if she needs him.
Tate texts Holly, saying she’s here if she wants to talk, but she hasn’t read the message yet.
John and Tate are shocked when Brady walks in. He explains that Justin convinced EJ that there wasn’t enough evidence against him, so he dropped the charges. John hugs Brady while Tate looks on and smiles.

I love Grandpa John and Tate. For once, Tate's age isn't a factor as John looks a million years old lately. I hope Drake is ok

Everyone should have a Grandpa John in their lives. Steady, calm, loving, and generally leaning on common sense.
And when John was at the police station the other day, it appeared his balance was off when he was walking. I really hope Drake is okay.

It bugged me that Tate says he found out about Eric/Daniel by overhearing his mother and grandmother talking. His father has Daniel's heart. That's a big deal and it's something I would expect Brady to have told Tate at some point over the years.

I imagine Holly will be even more pissed when she finds out Brady is frittering away her "dad"'s heart by going on black out booze binges

That's a big deal and it's something I would expect Brady to have told Tate at some point over the years. Yeah, but Eric is also family. I can see Tate knowing that his father had a heart transplant but not necessarily being told that it was Daniel's heart because Daniel isn't family to Tate, and Eric is, so the default is to protect family.
