Tate is moping in the penthouse. He has also googled the Eric/Daniel accident. John comes in and reports on Brady taking responsibility for the hit and run. Tate asks if there is any possibility that Brady might not go down for this. John says that Justin is working on it, but it will come down to one volatile player. Tate is concerned that Brady’s fate lies in the hands of the one man in town who hates his dad more than Xander does. John tells him to keep the faith. Tate is trying. John wants to know if anything else has got him down. He can tell just by looking at him. Tate has 'tells' that he remembers from when he was a kid. If Tate wants to talk he is here. Tate is mad at himself for being an idiot. He told Holly something he shouldn’t have and now she is hurt.

You can see Tate relax around his grandpa. Whereas Tate's relationship with his dad is fraught with friction you can see the easy way he communicates with good ole Grandpa John, who is a calming influence.
