John continues his talk with Brady, says maybe it is not that straight forward, but he just wants to ask him not to plead guilty until they know the whole story. For all Brady knows, there might be mitigating circumstances. There might be a hell of a lot more to this story. Brady says Kristen demolished the car so there is no evidence. John wants to investigate. Brady says John needs to face the fact that he got drunk, got behind a wheel and hit Sarah, and he is going to pay for this.
John says it is not just about Brady, it is about his kids too. How will Tate handle another parent going to Statesville. Brady says his kids will be fine, Theresa will be out in 6 months and Rachel has Kristen. John points out that both of these women are unstable. Brady continues his insistence that he must take responsibility. He put Sarah in a wheelchair. It is the only explanation
EJ is outside on the phone ranting that all ducks must be in a row before Brady’s arraignment. He must fry for what he did. Eric looms up behind him and calls him a vindictive son of a b.
EJ asks if Eric shouldn’t be taking his wife and his son on a pauper’s trip to Paris (lol). Eric corrects soon to be ex wife and his son. EJ rephrases: What are you doing in Salem? Eric came to help his brother. And just in time to stop EJ from railroading him. EJ points out that Brady has punched his own one way ticket to prison by confessing to driving drunk and maiming poor Sarah Kiriakis. EJ wonders where Eric’s compassion is for the victim and her family. Eric’s heart breaks for Sarah and anybody who loves her (even Xander?). EJ says it is not surprising that Eric supports Brady for going on a drunken bender, since he did the same thing himself. Vehicular homicide must run in their family. Brady only crippled Sarah though, Eric killed a man.
Eric is silent. EJ thinks he hit a nerve. He wonders if Eric thinks about Daniel when he is lying next to Nicole. Eric wants to see Brady. Eric says he can offer him absolution, but saying a few rosaries won’t cut it for the DA’s office. Brady is going to be doing his penance in a cell for the rest of his life. Eric says that Nicole is fast tracking the divorce. EJ should be getting the final decree any day now. EJ stalks off. John comes in and greets him. They exchange Jude chat for a bit. John says Brady is hell bent on pleading guilty. Eric might be their best chance to talk some sense into him.
Brady is having a flashback to the night of the crash. Fiona saying they should take things back to her place. His family need him. Fiona mocks him then says one for the road? He is snapped out of this by Eric’s arrival. They embrace manfully.
Justin comes up to John. He hopes Eric will be able to convince Brady not to plead guilty. Justin says maybe the mind they need to change isn’t Brady’s.
Brady wants to know why Eric is here. Eric says where else would he be. He is there to help. Brady says if he is trying to convince him to plead not guilty not to bother. Eric is not there to do that. He understands the need to atone for ones sins. Eric killed Daniel, Brady almost killed Sarah. Brady tells Eric he doesn’t remember, but he knows he did it. Eric says he is there for him all the way. He needs to take responsibility for his own mistake. He needs to find Holly. It is time to tell her the truth.
John thinks that Justin’s idea is good. He wishes him luck and takes off. EJ comes out of the shadows and tells Justin not to waste time pleading for his client. He is throwing the book at Brady. Justin says he will be laughed out of court with no evidence and no witness. EJ says he has a confession. Justin says that anybody can confess to a crime, but with no evidence Brady will be acquitted. EJ should save them all time and drop the charges. EJ glowers.
EJ says they both know Brady is guilty as sin. Justin asks how he plans to prove that. He can’t place Brady or his car at the scene, and Brady having no memory of driving the car, hitting Sarah, and Sarah can’t identify him. Also EJ can’t produce the car in question. EJ says because the car was ‘stolen’. He might add obstruction of evidence to the charges. Justin says his case is built on sand. Does he really want to bring this to a jury?
Eric is gone, Justin comes in to see Brady. He is adamant that he is not changing his mind. Justin says it doesn’t matter anymore. EJ comes in and tells Brady to get out, he is free to go. Justin convinced him that he has no case. EJ is going to find evidence and punish him, but until then he can’t proceed on just Brady’s vague confession. He says this is not over and strides out. Justin wants to get Brady home to his family. Brady does not look convinced.

Best scene of the day if you ask me. I LOVED the way Justin took charge of the situation and backed bully EJ right into a corner.
Justin was focused and in form. What a delight to see a "professional" performing his job at a top level.
Take note Jada. Wake the HELL UP and start doing your job. And put on your thinking cap for once please.

It was nice seeing Justin on the winning end of an argument for a change.
But Eric didn't "mow" Daniel down the way Sarah was mowed down. Daniel was in a car with Brady. I think Daniel was driving. But Eric ran through an intersection and was responsible.

I feel like the only reason Brady was released is so he can be available for Xander to get revenge on. Ugh.
