During the winter olympics, I watch all of the figure skating events.
I don't have any specific summer events that are on my can't miss list, but I do tend to watch as much of the Olympics as I can, and I always love the Opening Ceremonies.

will be watching the Olympics but only for the basketball for I personally know someone that is playing. He is my boyfriend of 27 years nephew, and his name is Tyrese Haliburton (my boyfriend passed away and 2023

I'll be watching it. I am a sports fanatic and I love the hype and drama of the Summer Olympics.
Track and Field is my favorite, but I like the swimming, soccer, tennis and basketball too. Not especially interested in the other sports.

I'll watch some of the Olympics. I like watching gymnastics and the swimming and diving. One of the female swimmers is from a neighboring town.

I just got to watch the opening ceremonies. France did a spectacular job. Having the athletes on boats along the Seine river was unique. The light show on the Eiffel tower was magnificent, and it was lovely to hear Celine Dion sing at the end.
However, I do wish NBC had done a better job at explaining much of the symbolism we were seeing. Much of it had to do with Olympic/Greek history and French history. I caught some of it but was hoping for more in depth explanations. Instead, Kelly Clarkson just kept saying how cool everything was, which I found annoying and disappointing.
But I really enjoyed the show and the overall Olympic theme of bringing humanity together. With a Peacock subscription it's easy to catch up on what I've missed, so I'm on to watch some of the swimming and gymnastics competitions.

I'm with you doolfan4life. The Olympics are supposed to be a friendly competition between countries, not a showcase for political views, and the committee has forgotten that. |
