Oooh. It’s classical week on Dancing with the Stars!!!!!!!

Tonight each dancer will do two routines – their regular routine and a team dance. Ooh fun!


Katherine and Mark – RUMBA (27)


WTH is Mark wearing (or not wearing as the case may be)?!? I think only William could pull that off. And then I’d pull it off William. Hi-oh!!! Ok. There is something seriously missing from this rumba. Yes, it’s the Diamond Song, but it was just so strange. I didn’t think Katherine showed much hip action, which is surprising, and Mark looked kind of prissy for some reason. I don’t know. I was quite prepared to really like this routine (actually I thought they would be really good) but I’m left with my face all screwed up like “Wha…” Not my bag. My Score: 8 – decent but not incredible Oh, and couldn’t they spray paint some abs on Mark?!?


Melissa and Maks – ARGENTINE TANGO (21)


What? Maks is injured?!? Apparently he has a cyst in his foot/ankle and stress makes it worse. So Melissa practiced with Val (the poor man’s Maks) but – obviously – she danced with Maks. Poor Melissa. I almost feel bad for her at this point. She’s obviously trying, but the talent just isn’t there. It was too wild and messy (as Bruno said) and I want her to do well, but it just wasn’t there. Poor gal. But during the judges’ comments, you could see that Maks was maaaaaaaaaaaad! They really are sticking it to him this season, aren’t they? My Score: 7

ETA: I finally figured out why Melissa always looks so disconnected. It’s because she’s just dancing her part – she isn’t following! Ballroom dancers have to be connected in order for it to look good. She must follow him. If the girl is leading (and the man is following) they are at least communicating through the movement – even if it’s a little backwards. But if no one is following, it’s like talking to someone at the same time that they are talking. You can’t hear what they’re saying and they can’t hear you. This is the crux of Melissa’s problem. She’s trying so hard to “do it right” that she only focuses on her steps. She doesn’t “listen” to Maks. If she did, they’d have a better connection and she’d look a LOT better.


William and Cheryl – VIENNESE WALTZ (27)


Oh William. Why must you wear so much clothes? You are too pretty for shirts. Or pants. Or really anything. *SIGH* Ok, back to dancing. Like a dream in a cloud, William and Cheryl floated across the floor. I thought it was really, really, lovely. It was a romantic Viennese Waltz. He looked solid. His frame was excellent. And at times, it even looked like he was leading. Ha! It didn’t leave me in tears, or needing a hose (I don’t think anyone could pull off sexy to “Ave Maria”), but it was still really, really good. My Score: 9


Roshon and Chelsie – ARGENTINE TANGO (25)


Oh dear. Roshon is getting “Man” coaching from Val. Oy. Let’s see how that translates into their number. BUT HOLD THE PHONE!!!! WHAT THE BLOODY HELL!!! SINCE WHEN IS “BAD ROMANCE” A CLASSICAL SONG?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? GAGA?!?!?!? IF THAT WAS AN OPTION, WHY DIDN’T EVERYONE DO IT??? (Can you tell I’m peeved about this cop-out?) Argh. Also, why does “Classical” mean “Greek goddess?” Anyway, I hated this routine. H-A-T-E-D. Regardless of the music, the choreography was just bad AND poorly executed. His posture was atrocious and his footwork was even worse. I don’t know what routine the judges were watching, but this was hella bad. My Score: 6


Donald and Peta – VIENNESE WALTZ (27)


Well, this was….. interesting. At moments, his footwork was really nice and he certainly had nice posture. However, a nice frame doesn’t just come from sticking your nose in the air. Maybe that was supposed to be part of their theme, but I didn’t care for that part. Otherwise, the rest of the dance was nice. Not spectacular, but nice. My Score: 8


Maria and Derek – PASO DOBLE (30)


I have to say I’m digging the Vampire theme. It actually fits with the music and the theme of the dance (although she did sit on the floor for a little too long). I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I really liked it. That was really good. Maria was powerful and aggressive and it was just great. As much as I hate to do it (because it causes me pain to award Derek like this) I have to give it a good score. My Score: 10 That hurt. But it was well deserved. Congrats Maria.


Jaleel and Kym – VIENNESE WALTZ (24)


Hmm. I wasn’t feeling this one. As Len said “I liked it enough not to be cruel, but I didn’t like it enough to be kind.” For once, I think I agree with Len. It wasn’t god-awful terrible, but it was NOT the best. I didn’t care for it, but it didn’t offend me – if that makes sense. My Score: 7

ETA: Apparently, the music is the theme music from Downton Abbey - which I do not watch - so I guess that explains the outfits? Maybe?

Team TANGO – Maria, Roshon, Jaleel, and Katherine (27)


I thought this team Tango was a big ‘ole hot mess. Maria was nice – until the awkward lift/drop. Jaleel was blah. Katherine was way too high on her toes. Roshon was just *shrugs* EH. There were moments that, as a team, they had nice togetherness, but overall, it was a miss for me. My Score: 8


Team PASO DOBLE – William, Donald, Melissa (26)


Oh. La. La. Lovely bare chests abound. So yummy. Who needs shirts? This team certainly doesn’t. Oh lord. The cape part was HAWT. Oh sweet Jesus. Holy barrel chests Batman!! That was really awesome!!! And the dancing was good too! Really incredible!! My Score: 10 The judges were smoking crack for not giving that three 10s. Crack, I tell you!!!

I was so PO'ed about the scored team Paso got. They totally got screwed. The are totally blowing smoke up Katherine and Maria's rear ends and I hate it.

William was good and as much as I hate to say it Maria did deserve the perfect 30. It was good. The rest were just so so for me. I hated Mark and Katherine's rhumba. It was awful. And yes, Mark and William totally should have traded costumes. He should not be shirtless.

ETA: Melissa's costume was just unfortunate. It didn't fit her right and there was a spot on her leotard that was very ill fitting and very distracting especially with the lifts that they did.

Len wants Katherine to win so badly he can't even hide it anymore. I don't blame them for having favorites (we all have them) but don't judge them differently. If you tell one person their footwork doesn't matter because the routine "touched something deep inside" then you can't harp on a different contestant for footwork. BE CONSISTENT!!!

Maria & Derek were fantastic..I thought the shirtless part of the Team Paso was nice for me but tacky in the end.. It should be about the dancing and not the physiques.. Maybe that was why it was marked down??

I still haven't watched last night's episode yet. I caught bits and pieces. I knew Derek and Maria's was good, knew Jaleel's was okay but not good and knew Team Paso got shafted. I did see both team dances and Paso was way better than Tango. Shirtless or not, but shirtless does help. I'm going to try to catch up tonight maybe. Things at home have been stressful, so I do need some de-stressing material...and William, Tristan, and Maks are definitely de-stressing material!

Or Melissa. You could tell that they were seriously shocked to NOT be in the bottom two. But I think they might be keeping Maks around just so they can torture him some more. The judges really like telling him he stinks.

Yeah I read a couple of interviews and Maks was pretty sure that they would be the ones heading home.
