John and Steve are coming up blank on anything on Konstantin’s missing wife. They think it is impossible for her to just vanish, and think Konstantin had something to do with it. Steve thinks that it is good that Kon’s Visa has been declined and John agrees it is good he is out of Maggie’s life. Steve says that once Konstantin is gone he will get his first good night’s sleep in a while. John says that Marlena says Konstantin and the Pawn thing has given him a lot of anxiety. They rattle on about Konstantin leaving, no sign of his ex, and maybe it is a sign to leave well enough alone. If Konstantin is forced out, his long game has become a short time, and he will ramp up his efforts to get Maggie’s money before he bites the dust. Steve says that is why they can’t let their guard down. John says Konstantin forgave him so they should drop it. Steve argues that they don’t even know if John killed Catharina. Steve says fine, even if it was true, why would Konstantin drop decades of anger at him. His forgiveness is probably not genuine. Konstantin eavesdrops on that last bit and decides to unload on them: He has decided that it was never John’s fault, that Steve was the one working for Victor, and if anybody is to blame, it is him. Everything Steve did was out of his own free will, never brainwashed or threatened. He knew Victor was destroying John’s life and stood by and let John suffer. If he hadn’t exposed what had happened, then he would never have come clean. He slimes away. Steve asks John if he is buying into this obvious attempt to create a rift between them. We cut to Konstantin smirking evily.
