I think he looks old
I looked him up and he’s apparently 26 but to me he looks older than his actual age
His acting is fine but not in a sense that he doesn’t carry himself as a 17 year old
I like the other Tate better personally

This Tate with Holly looks like a 30 year old dating a 17 year old, and when his parents are giving him boundaries it looks ridiculous as he is clearly well over 18. Actor is fine, just does not play that young. And I miss the sweet vulnerability of the first Tate

Tate is a great character. The new actor is fine but the casting folks should be fired. He looks way too old and inappropriate for Holly. Not the actor's fault. They are supposed to be about the same age but he looks 10 years older than her. The original Tate was physically well-matched to Holly.
And his interactions with his parents also fall flat since it appears like they are forbidding a 30 year old to date who he wants to date.
What were they thinking???
