EJ is on the phone in the living room. Holly passes through the room without saying a word. EJ stops her. He knows she’s upset about her punishments. She says she’s upset that she can’t see Tate. She pins the blame on him for blowing everything out of proportion and having Tate arrested for no reason. Holly daydreams about her last encounter with Tate. Johnny comes in. Holly tells him she has no life. She and Tate can’t see each other anymore. She tells him she’s not in love with Tate but she really likes him. Johnny is empathetic. He goes to pack. She says she’s happy for him. After Holly goes, Rachel comes in asking to do mani-pedis. Holly is all for it. Johnny and Chanel stop to say goodbye. Rachel makes a face when they kiss.
Holly and Rachel sit and talk as Kristen comes in and orders Rachel to go to her room. She tells Holly to stay away from her daughter. She accuses Holly of lying about not taking drugs anymore. If Kristen sees Holly with Rachel again, she will regret it. EJ enters and lights into Kristen for speaking to Holly that way. After Kristen leaves, Holly thanks him for having her back.

Kristen over the top as usual. Did not need flashback to literally the last time Holly was on. Enjoyed EJ defending Holly, that was nice.

Rachel is enough of a brat without Holly's influence.

Rachel is like Days secret weapon. Best line of the day by far was when Holly asked Rachel what her favorite subject was, the way she said "lunch" was gemlike.
Sure Kristen, your brat is too pure to be sharing quality time with Holly. This woman is batty.
I am probably alone here but I am Team Holly. Granted she has done some sneaky stuff but heck she is a teenager. She didn't KNOW the drugs were tainted.
And I am glad she pinned sanctimonious EJ to the wall.
EJ though rebounded some by telling Kristen to knock it off.

She didn't KNOW the drugs were tainted. But that's not the point. True, she didn't know the drugs were tainted, otherwise she wouldn't have taken them. But she very well knew she was taking drugs. That is what the mother of a young child is concerned about. I am not a Kristen fan but I can definitely understand why a mother would be concerned about her young daughter being around a known drug user.

Is their kid hanging out with the wrong crowd. Etc. Understandable. but I feel COLD punishment is not the right remedy. Getting to the emotional core of the youngster is more important in my mind and at that Nicole (and I can't really lay too much blame of EJ since he just became her stepdad) has failed. I think Eric is the one who connects to Holly on that important level.

So what should the consequences be, then? What kind of punishment should Holly get?

So what should the consequences be, then? What kind of punishment should Holly get? I have noticed a wicked communication gap between Nicole and Holly. As far as I can tell Nicole is just not up to the job. They are a bit estranged. Holly would benefit from a shrink, preferably not Marlena, who can pull back the curtains on Holly's anxiety. Teenagers like to experiment. Booze, weed etc. You don't want them to go overboard. The key is to keep it contained where it doesn't get out of control. I was impressed with Eric here. He was sympathetic but also pushed Holly into confessing. A young person won't follow advice or heed a punishment out of sheer fear. If they get an understanding at a root level of what's what then progress will follow. Advice from Dr. Me. Ha.
