Did anyone else in the Northeast feel that today?
We just had an earthquake! That never happens here. It was 4.8, which by west coast standards is nothing, but is a big deal here. The whole house shook, which is worrisome since it's a 100+ year old house and not meant for shaking. First thing we did was run to the basement to make sure the furnace hadn't blown up! Then we went outside. The neighbors were all on their front porches asking if we felt it too. The last time I felt something like this, a house several miles away blew up during Hurricane Ida due to a gas leak. But that was a much quicker shockwave. This lasted about 30 seconds. Thankfully, there seems to be no injuries or serious damage. But this definitely shook up our day...pun intended.

My niece in Northern New Jersey felt it big time. My husband experienced the Santa Cruz earthquake in 1989 (World Series earthquake) which was a 7.1.
Stay safe!

Felt it here in NY. I had just sat down at my computer and thought it was the wind then realized the house was shaking. By the time I got in the hallway it was over.
I think it scared Sterling. He was randomly meowing a bit the rest of the morning.

Upstate NY here. I didn’t feel the quake but a friend in a nearby town did.

We've had a couple of aftershocks, around a 4, but nothing too bad.
My cousin lives right near the epicenter. She was working form home, sitting at her desk. She said she could feel the floor shaking under her feet and everything in the house shook, some things fell. She was pretty freaked out.
Fingers crossed, this is the end of it.

I've never personally felt an earthquake but Arkansas has been picking up the pace on having them. Most of them are more northeastern and they haven't been strong enough to really feel where I am.
Now - I did have an idiot less than a mile from me (in a straight line) shoot about 5-10 lbs of tannerite at one time. That created such a shockwave that it did shake the whole house. And people as far as 5 miles away felt it. He did this for 3-4 days but the amount of the tannerite got smaller after the cops were called but we still felt several aftershocks from it.

I live in Oklahoma and there have been a lot of mini earthquakes here due to fracking, I've gotten used to it but it is scary when it happens.
