Authors, how do you find or make time to write? With everything else going on in life and working full time I find it hard to devote as much time as I would like to writing for enjoyment, also known as The Rest of Our Lives.

I block out time on my calendar. If I'm busy, it doesnt have to be every day. I find it easier to block out an hour 3x/week than every day, and then on days I don't write, I don't have to worry because I know I will at the time I've set aside.

Honestly it took me a decade to complete my first novel which I haven’t even done anything with in terms of publishing I found it hard for time management with the kids and Frank having such a rough go for a long time medically I also changed my direction with it several times I’m half way through another one and I still struggle with not just time but motivation with everything going on I just decided in the end to write when I can and eventually I will finish it One day I might be brave enough to share it

I write mainly poetry and I find that ideas randomly pop in my head-sometimes it's words, sometimes it's whole phrases. And I never know when I am going to get those ideas, so I often write a rough draft on a blank envelope or whatever is handy. I just take it from there when I get a chance. And it's usually the end of the day before I can get to finishing what I want to write. But many of my poems are short so that is convenient.
