In memory of Bill Hayes who passed away yesterday (January 12), do you have any favorite memories of Doug Williams you'd like to share?

This is kind of an old one but one of my favorite memories of Doug was when back in the 1980's, he was eviscerating Lee when she showed up to stop him from getting remarried to Julie.

I loved the Doug's Place era. I love that the show played to Bill Hayes's talents and gave him a showcase to perform.
I didn't care for the time when he married Addie, Julie and Hope's mother. They could just have easily made Hope be Julie's daughter but since Addie died in childbirth, that created big drama.

Addie didn't die in childbirth. If I recall correctly, she actually died as a result of a hit and run accident shortly after Hope was born. I think that she was originally supposed to die giving birth to Hope though.

Yes! Addie was walking Hope in her carriage. She pushed the baby carriage out of the way to save Hope, but was hit by the car and killed instantly. I think of it whenever I see Addie's ornament on the Horton Christmas tree.

I grew up on Doug's Place and loved Doug and Robert. Actor Robert Clary was a holocaust survivor and in one scene, his character and Doug talk about that. I wish I could find that scene somewhere because I never forgot it.
But I'll always remember Doug as Hope's doting father and what a wonderful team he and Julie made.
And I'll never forget Bill Hayes donning colored contact lenses and becoming the devil! He really seemed to be having fun with that at 96 years old!

I knew that! Been so long that I forgot. That scene where Addie pushed the carriage out of the way was memorable. I never liked Addie and apparently the show had other plans for Doug.

My favorite memory of Doug is whenever Bill Hayes would sing as Doug. Bill had such a beautiful voice. It was so strong and beautiful. It was a treat to hear his vocals.
