Dwindling families (Read 138 times)

Days has been about family since its inception. The Days landing page on Peacock touts the Horton, Brady, Kiriakis, Hernandez and DiMera families. 

The Horton tree trimming was a sadly small affair with hardly anyone who could be called a Horton through blood or marriage. 

The Kiriakis clan has dwindled. Can't wait for Xander to take his rightful spot.

Rafe is the last Hernandez standing. 

The Bradys once were many in number. Now we are down to Kayla, Roman and Eric. (I don't count Theresa).

I feel like the Dimeras are well represented though, mostly because they keep popping out of the woodwork with newfound offspring of Stefano's. 

They tried introducing additional members of the Pryce family, Sloan's family, the Shins and Melinda's family, but haven't been overly successful except for maybe Paulina and Chanel.

They had Li but they ruined him when the writers decided to reunite Stefan and Gabi. But you're right, it's a lot of solo people now, the families themselves have been decimated.

Yeah the core families are dwindling especially on the Horton side

You have Sarah, Victoria Margaret, Julie, Doug, Charlotte, Thomas pretty much; sure as hell use more family

Kiriakises you have Xander, his daughter, Brady, Tate, Justin, Alex and Maggie even though she's a part of the Hortons still

DiMeras you have EJ, Johnny, Stefan, Kristen, Rachel pretty much even though Dimitri is in prison now and Megan is God knows where on the run


Bradys you have Kayla, Roman, Kate, Eric, Tate, Theresa, Stephanie so they definitely could use more Bradys


Hernandez family we had Gabi and her daughter but both are gone and Rafe's parents Eduardo & Adriana are not in town either and Dario is still a fugitive

I'd like to see more Hortons in Salem. Lucas needs to get out of jail. We need JJ back in town. It would be nice to have Eli and Lani back even on a recurring basis.

I'd like to see Eduardo Hernandez return even if it's for a visit.

There's so many extended family members that are off screen that they could easily add back into the mix to keep things fresh and to weave new story lines with existing cast. But, I understand budget and time. I just wish that they would bench some of the veteran actors (just a little) so that new players can enter the scene and invest in the next generation.

I agree, the Brady and Horton clan is practically non-existent. It would be nice to see a few more Hortons enter the scene.
