As has been rumored, and confirmed by the credits today, Emily O'Brien will be wrapping up her run as Gwen and transitioning into her new role of Theresa Donovan, taking over for the departing Jen Lilley, who last aired last week. No word yet on Gwen's last airdate.

No word yet on Gwen's last airdate. Source: Jason47 I was baffled. You saw this info on the credits. The credits I was watching abruptly ended before another Peacock show started up. So, I tried it again. BTW I am having trouble accessing Peacock on my first try of late. So, on my second try I think(?) I just caught Emily listed as Theresa (she was also listed playing Gwen) which was freaky for sure. Kpatch you should be in the military or something with your Eagle Eye. In fact, on my third try I didn't see the Emily/Theresa credit. I am profoundly glad Emily is staying on board, but it isn't my preferred direction. I wanted Gwen to stay. And the cluster confusion of having Theresa musical chairs is jarring beyond belief. Simply an uncomfortable situation. I don't like the move, but I hope Emily passes her test. Very strange if you ask me. Especially having Emily come in hot on the heels of Jen. Bonkers. I am also bummed about Leo left in the cold without his bestie. Or former bestie. I guess the other big question is how Gwen departs. I am hoping they leave the door open for her return. And of course Gwen has been killing it the past few episodes. Naturally Days is pulling the plug on her. Jackasses. |

horizon, I can't take credit. In fact I never watch the credits. LOL. It was on Jason47's page, as sourced in the article above.  doolfan4life, I'm with you. It wasn't just Gwen I couldn't stomach. It's the actress who plays her. Couldn't stand her from the start even when she was a minor player as Jake's girlfriend.

Ha. Gee I was getting ready to call West Point on your behalf Kpatch.
Anyway, like dreams life never gels the way you want it. For a while now I have been pushing for a Gwen/Brady mashup and see where it lands.
But as cruel fate intercedes Gwen is departing but the actress portraying her will shuttle on over to play Theresa the mother of Brady's boy. Go figure.
A CROOKED bullseye. Such is the miserable life. To semi quote a famous Rolling Stones song "you can't always get what you want." But you can't get what you need either it seems.
Since days insisted on getting rid of Gwen I would have preferred Emily returning as a brand-new character but apparently Days didn't want to go in that direction

Ugh!! I don't like Gwen (or the actress). Either way tho, I think this is a really bad idea. Viewers are seeing her currently as Gwen and then to jump ship and have her chasing after Brady and Alex (didn't Gwen have a fling with Alex) is just going to be a train wreck. I've said it before but I think this "recast" is way too soon. At least with Ben/Alex, we had a little more time in between.

Wonder if it putting Emily O'Brien in the credits as Theresa too soon was a mistake, like running one of the Dick Van Dyke episodes a week too soon.

So this is what I think happened based on the various articles that I’ve read. So Jen Lilley reached out to the producers saying that she wanted to make an appearance for the John Aniston tribute and they offered her a 12 week contract. However, due to her prior commitments, she could only do three to four weeks. Then at some point, Albert Alarr decided that he wanted to replace Jen with a new actress and Jen noticed that there was something wrong when she stopped receiving scripts. She then confronted Alarr and he tells her that Theresa will continue having a story - just with not her in it. And apparently Emily O’Brien has known for about three weeks that she was going to be the new Theresa. And according to Jen, when she found out, she ran up to Emily and hugged her and even gave her her phone number in case she ever wanted to talk. Honestly if not for the whole Albert Alarr factor I would’ve written off this situation as a major case of miscommunication but apparently there was clearly a lot of ego and unprofessionalism as well. The whole thing is awful if you ask me.
