Alex was revealed to be Victor’s son this past week. Quite a few fans, including me, are speculating that Theresa tampered with the letter from Angelica, especially since her name was on a separate page. We think the letter was really written by Xander’s mother and it was about the other Alexander in the family. That would be much easier for me to swallow than Alex, a relative newcomer, and it wouldn’t break Justin’s heart.
I actually would like this story if it turns out that the letter was doctored and this drama for Alex and Justin is just temporary. If Victor had to have a secret son (which in my opinion, he did not) Xander works much better in that capacity.
There was a random scene when Theresa first came back where she ran into Xander outside the pub and they traded insults. Theresa hates Xander so I could see her changing the letter to benefit Alex. We also had a reminder about Xander being broke, and if he’s Victor’s heir, he will become filthy rich. Yes, Victor kicked Xander out of the mansion, but how many times did he fire or disown Philip, even in the last few years?
I hope it plays out this way.
As an aside, I think it's out of character for Victor not to acknowledge a child of his, especially after he was deprived of raising Bo and Isabella and didn't get to know either of them until they were adults.
Thoughts?

I'm in the minority here. I do not think the letter was doctored with.
Both Justin and Alex would know Angelica's handwriting, so this forgery idea doesn’t work at all.
The only way this Xander theory could work is if Angelica was also Xander's mother. But then she named two children with the same name, which makes no sense.
Theresa is preoccupied with her own love life and would not care about Xander not finding out he's Victor's son. In fact, Xander already made it clear he hates Victor and is glad he's gone. So if she wanted revenge, she would make sure Xander DID know, as that would give him an additional reason to hate him!
And if she were to tamper with the letter, it would be to get more for Brady and Tate, not for a petty act irrelevant to her interests.
I think it's quite clear that the reason Victor stayed away was in order to not endanger his relationship with Justin, and that the reason this is coming out now is to drive home the point that Sarah almost did the same thing to Xander. Since Rex and Sarah seem determined to keep Xander from his daughter, Maggie can now point to this letter and how it's affected Justin and Alex to attempt to convince Sarah to do the right thing.

I definitely think this is how it's going to turn out. The presumptive father who would be so hurt by the truth wasn't named as Justin in the letter, right? So Theresa could have theoretically changed the signature to Anjelica's (we don't know that the letter was handwritten, either, I guess) to screw over Xander and position herself as the possible wife of the new heir, Alex.
If Victor fathered Xander and let his own brother think that Xander was his son... then that means he slept with *two* of his brothers' women (remember that mess with Deimos and Helena)? So maybe they'll say that after what he did to Deimos, he didn't want to hurt another brother that way or something.

Xander being Victor's son just makes more sense to me. Victor adored Justin. I can't imagine him keeping this secret for decades and then revealing it in his will, when he knew it would hurt Justin terribly once he was gone and he wouldn't be able to explain anything face to face. Victor was the type to stick to a plan. I can see him giving the fortune to Xander because I believe his "father" is dead and therefore could no longer be hurt by the truth.
It also could explain Victor's deep sense of disappointment in Xander. He'd expect more from his son, even if he wasn't raised by him.
As for the handwriting, I don't see the current Days writers even considering that.
That Theresa had the time to tamper with the letter, and the only part mentioning names was the very last page, makes me think she somehow switched or changed the final page. It not only allows her to screw over Xander whom she hates, but gives her the opportunity to get close to Alex who will now have half of Victor's estate.
