2nd update for today! Had to make some adjustments- so the Chad portion that was mentioned in the preview will actually be in the next chapter.
This is just Maggie and Melanie.

Chapter 24 Afternoon came and went and there wasn’t much life in the Kiriakis mansion. Melanie went to rest in her room and Maggie found herself stewing. She wasn’t sure what she was stewing about, exactly, because she knew that Victor didn’t mean for Melanie to find out about things in that way. She was starting to rethink her reactions… and wondering if maybe she was just looking for someone else to blame besides herself.
She sighed as she shook herself from her day-dream and perched her glasses back on her nose, focusing back on the book in her lap. It wasn’t long before Melanie appeared in the doorway, catching Maggie’s eye, “Hi there!”
Melanie walked in slowly, “Hi.”
“You okay?” She set her book down on the table and removed her glasses as Melanie came over and sat on the sofa, adjacent from where she was in the arm chair.
“Yeah… I’m fine.” Melanie forced a smile.
Maggie took a deep breath, “You know… you don’t have to do that with me.”
“What?”
She lowered her eyes in warning, “Pretend.”
Melanie shook her head, responding softly, “I’m not pretending.” She looked up, realizing it wasn’t working, “I just hate that I caused everyone so much trouble.”
Maggie sighed, “Melanie…”
“It must have been so hard for Philip to pretend to be married to me for these past few weeks.” She pauses, looking up at Maggie, “It was good of him. He didn’t have to do it.”
Maggie nods, “Yes, it was very good of him. He wanted to help you.” She takes Melanie’s hand, “How do you feel?”
Melanie shrugs, “I don’t even think I know how to feel…” She shakes her head, “I don’t even know who I am anymore. My own life is a mystery to me.”
“Oh, Melanie… I’m so sorry.”
She sniffs her tears, “I mean, I don’t know what to do now, you know? Where do I go from here?”
“I can’t imagine what is going through your head right now, honey. But you aren’t alone. Anything you need, we are all here for you.”
“I know.” She nods, looking up despairingly, “The only reason I know I will get through this is because I have you.”
Maggie looks down as her eyes brim with tears, “Sweetheart, you know, I understand if you’re angry with me.”
Melanie’s eyes widen, “What? Why would I ever be angry with you?”
“Because I didn’t tell you the truth…” She shakes her head, “You trust me… and I let you down. I’m sorry.”
“No,” Melanie chokes back her tears, “You could never, ever let me down.”
“Okay.” Maggie nods, struggling not to cry.
“I don’t know what I ever did to deserve you,” Melanie shakes her head, a tear falling to her cheek, “But I definitely don’t know what I would do without you.”
“And you will never have to find out.” Maggie smiles, sniffling her tears, “How are you doing? Physically, I mean.”
“Fine…” She looked up wiping her tears, her face lightens slightly, “I’m hungry. All of the time. Sometimes I wish for morning sickness, just so I will be able to stop eating for a second!” She chuckles.
Maggie laughs, “But that’s good! Means you have a healthy growing baby in there. Besides, you’re probably passed the morning sickness stage, anyway.”
“I am?” She sighs, “You’re right, I am.” She looks up, her face suddenly brightening with a smile, “I almost forgot! I have an ultra sound this week!”
Maggie nods, “I know. Before you know it, we’ll be counting down to your due date.” She watches as Melanie nods solemnly. Time to change the subject, she raises her eyebrows, “So, is it safe to assume you are hungry now?”
“Yes.” She looked up with wide, serious eyes, causing Maggie to chuckle.
“Well, come on then, let’s go and have some dinner. I think I may have something perfect for me and you.” She gets up from the chair, Melanie following suit. Maggie wraps her arm around her and they head into the kitchen.
