Oh no..... she thinks she is still married to Phillip! Wonder how much time she has lost???
We have one story where Melanie thinks she is still married to Phillip and another one where Phillip has NO CLUE he is married to Melanie... this is going to get confusing.

Chapter 10 Daniel and Maggie both exchanged glances, their faces clearly displaying a sense of uneasiness and shock; Melanie quickly picked up on the awkwardness.
“What is going on?” She began to panic, “Oh my God, Is Phillip okay??”
“Uh, yes, honey…” Maggie brushed her hair away from her face, “Calm down… Phillip is fine.”
“Why did you guys look at each other like that?”
Daniel chuckled, nervously, “Well, just the irony” He pauses, “I mean, he just left. We just sent him home to get some rest. So it’s just the timing of everything.”
She looks to him with wide, frightened eyes, “He’s okay, though, you promise?” She looks to Maggie for reassurance.
“Yes, darling,” Maggie nods, “He is fine!”
“Okay…” Melanie sighs and closes her eyes.
Maggie and Daniel look to each other once again, before Maggie turns back to Melanie with a smile, “Honey… why don’t you rest for a little while, okay? You need to be kind to your body… it’s still healing.”
Melanie nods, as Maggie leans in and kisses her forehead softly. She stands up while Daniel tells Melanie that he loves her and they would be right outside.
Maggie and Daniel step outside, making sure the door is closed behind them. Maggie looks up at her son with wide eyes, “What are we going to do?”
Daniel shook his head, “I have no idea.”
She sighs, “She doesn’t remember Chad… This is going to break his heart.”
“But there is nothing else we can do! I mean, we can’t force her to remember him.”
“We need to explain it to him. But I think first we need to explain it to Phillip.”
Daniel sighs and shakes his head, “We’re just going to need him to go along with this for a little while until her memory comes back.”
“What about the baby?” She raises her eyebrows to him.
“As far as Melanie is going to know, it’s Phillips.”
Maggie shakes her head.
“What else do we do? You can’t fill in the gaps in this situation… it will only cause her stress and that is not good for her recovery.”
“But what about the stress when she finds out that this isn’t the truth? I mean… it has to come out eventually. And you know Melanie- nothing gets by her.”
He shrugs, “We are just going to have to deal with that as it comes. The stronger she gets, the more she will be able to handle.”
She sighs, “I need to find Victor and hopefully Phillip will be able to come down so we can talk to him.”
Daniel nods as she steps away and takes out her phone. He turns and spots Victor and Phillip walking down the hall. He clears his throat, “Mom..”
Maggie turns and sees Victor and Phillip coming towards them. She looks at Daniel and they both take a deep breath before greeting them.
Phillip looked between the two, noticing the strange expression towards him “Is everything okay?”
“Um, Phillip…” Maggie started, “We have to tell you something and ask you a huge favor.”
Phillip looked at her intently, as Daniel and Maggie guide them to the waiting area.
Carly rounds the corner and knocks softly on Melanie’s door before letting herself in. Melanie turns her head and smiles, “I was wondering where you went…”
She takes a seat on the edge of Melanie’s bed, kissing her forehead, “I just wanted to make some calls and let everyone know that you are all right.”
Melanie nodded, “I hope I didn’t worry everyone too much…”
“It doesn’t matter now that you are back with us.” Carly smiles, “How is your headache?”
“It’s better…” She pauses, her face contorting, “I’m kind of hungry, though…”
Carly chuckles, “That’s a good thing! I’m sure they will bring you something soon.”
“I hope so… I feel like I could eat a horse!” Melanie raises her eyebrows dramatically, causing Carly to laugh. She chuckles with her mother before face falls and grows concerned, “Mom?”
“Yeah sweetie?”
“Is everything okay with Phillip?” She watches Carly’s face intently.
Carly lowers her eyebrows, “Yes… I think so? Why?”
“Well… when I just asked Dad and Grandma about him they acted really funny… and I know that I was in car accident… I just need to know... was it Phillip? Was I with Phillip??” Her voice grows panicked.
“Honey… honey, calm down… No you weren’t with Phillip you-“ She stops herself from continuing, realizing the confusion, “What did they say? Daniel and Maggie?”
She shrugs, “They said he was fine and that they just sent him home to get some rest.”
Carly takes a deep breath, “Right.” She smiles, “That’s all, honey… I’m sure he will be back here in no time… as soon as they tell him the good news!”
Melanie smiles, “I hope so… I miss him.”
“I know you do…” She brushes her hand along her daughters cheek.
Phillip, Maggie, Daniel and Victor are sitting in the waiting area. Phillip looks down, confused and trying to understand what they just told him.
“So, she knows what year it is, but she thinks that she is still married to me?” His eyes widen.
Daniel nods, “The brain and memory are very complicated… It doesn’t necessarily have to be a short or long term memory loss. This is kind of a memory loss combined with confusion.”
“So she doesn’t remember anything that happened with us? I mean… Parker? Chloe?”
Maggie sighs, “We don’t know. You don’t want to bring up anything that may cause her stress… I would just assume that she doesn’t remember those things unless she gives you a clue otherwise.”
Daniel takes a deep breath, “Phillip..”
“Yeah?” He looks to Daniel.
“Just so you know... Melanie is pregnant. We haven’t told her yet, but when we do…”
“She’s going to think it’s mine.” He sighs.
Maggie looks to Victor, who sits silently expressionless, she looks back to Phillip, “I know this is going to be hard, Phillip. If there was anything else we could do, we would. But telling her the truth now would only cause her more confusion than she already has.”
“But what about Chad? I mean… What’s he going to do now?”
Daniel looks to Maggie, back to Phillip, “We’re going to go see him at his apartment and tell him in person. We just need you to see Melanie as soon as you can so she doesn’t worry about you and doesn’t get suspicious.”
He nods, “I understand.”
Carly makes her way over to the waiting area and smiles to the group, “Hi, Phillip…”
“Carly, Hi…”
“Melanie is asking about you…”
“We didn’t get a chance to tell you…” Daniel grows concerned, “What did you say?”
“I figured it out pretty quick on my own… I just asked her what the two of you had said and went with that. She was just worried that she was in the car accident with Phillip and something was wrong with him,” She turns to Phillip, “She isn’t going to rest until she sees you for herself…”
He looks around at the group and takes a deep breath before standing up, “Okay… I’ll go see her now.”
Maggie stands up, “Phillip…” He turns to her and she hugs him, “Thank you so much.”
They break away and he nods as he walks away, heading towards Melanie’s room.

Oh man... I can't imagine what is going on in Phillip's head right now. Knowing that he and Melanie are finished, that he cheated on her with her father's wife / girlfriend and they share a child... And Chad - what is this going to do to him?? Knowing that the woman he loves and is expecting a child with, thinks she is married to Phillip and that when she finds out she is pregnant is going to think it is Phillips. Please don't make him go all DiMera on us!!

Chapter 11
Phillip knocks softly on Melanie’s door, before peaking around with a smile. Her face lights up when she sees him, “Phillip!!”
He smiles as he walks to her bedside, leaning over and placing a kiss on her cheek, “How are you feeling?”
“I’m fine… just a little tired. I’m so happy to see you! You’re okay?” She is still concerned.
He nods, “Yes, Melanie… I’m fine, I promise.”
She sighs, “I was so worried because everyone was telling me that I was in a car accident and then I saw practically everyone but you…and-”
“Shh.. shh… it’s okay. I am fine and much better now that I know you are going to be okay!” He smiles, warmly.
She looks into his eyes, “I love you so much, Phillip…”
His heart was beating in his throat, never did he think he would hear those words from Melanie’s lips. He simply nodded, still smiling, “I love you too, Melanie.”
“You know, when I was um,sleeping, I guess you could say that,” She chuckled slightly, “I had a dream… about us…” She smiles sweetly, her eyes melting his.
He raises an eyebrow, “You did?”
“Yeah.” She nods, looking down, “and we had the two most beautiful children… a little boy and a little girl.” She looks up, smiling, “The little boy was so handsome just like his daddy… and the little girl had red hair and…”
“Was beautiful, just like her mommy…” He smiled.
She raised her eyebrows with a smile, “How did you know?”
“Just a guess…” he shrugged, a twinkle in his eye.
She smiled at him, before blinking her eyes slowly as they started to grow heavy.
He looked down at the hand resting softly in his, “Now that you know I’m okay, you think you can get some rest? You’ve been through a lot, you know, you need to take it easy.”
“That’s what everyone keeps telling me,” she spoke softly, her eyes half closed.
“And their counting on me to make it happen,” He smiled as he leaned over and kissed her cheek, “Get some rest, Melanie… I’ll be back in a little while.”
“Okay,” She nodded, she glanced down at her hand and then back up at Phillip, “Phillip?”
“Yeah?” He listen intently.
Her face grew concerned, “I don’t have my rings… Do you think you could bring them to me?”
He looked down and quickly positioned his own hand so that she wouldn’t notice the absence f his wedding band, he smiled, “Your wedding rings? Sure… I’ll bring them when I come back.”
“Thank you.” She smiled as she closed her eyes and nestled her head in her pillow. Phillip set her hand at her side and got up, taking a deep breath before heading out of the door.
When Phillip exited Melanie’s room, closing the door behind him, he looked up to find his father standing by the nurse’s station with his hands placed firmly in the pockets of his pants.
“Hi, Dad.” He made his way over to him.
“How is she?”
He shrugged, “She seems fine…”
Victor raised an eyebrow, “How did she act with you?”
He looked down, “Just like when we were married.”
“Phillip, if this isn’t something you can do, then you don’t have to do it.” Victor spoke sternly.
He looks into Victor’s eyes, “I need to do this, Dad. It’s the least I can do for her.” He pauses, reaching in his pocket, “I have to go call mom and see if she can keep Parker for a little longer.”
Victor lowers his eyebrows, “Don’t do that…He’s spent enough time with your mother lately. I’ll watch him for the afternoon.”
Phillip’s eyes widen, “By yourself?”
“Sure!” He spoke firmly.
“Okay… I do have to go to the house to get something for Melanie, though.”
“What does she need? I can get it for her.”
Phillip looked up, awkwardly, “Her wedding rings… She noticed that she wasn’t wearing them. They’re in the safe in my room at the house.”
His father sighed, “Phillip… now, I understand that you want to do this for Melanie- and be there for her. But you don’t have to go on with it if it becomes too much for you. You have a lot of history with that girl- and playing a game like this with your mind; it may start to weigh heavy on you.”
Phillip looked up at his father, his eyes wide, “I have to do this, Dad.” He explained, “I hurt Melanie in the worst possible way when we were married. This isn’t going to be easy for me… but maybe, in some way, I can make up for what I’ve done.”
Victor sighs, “You know that’s all in the past… It’s not something that needs to be rectified at this point.”
“It’s not the past, Dad. It’s Melanie’s present. Even if she doesn’t remember it now, she might remember everything eventually. I just need to do what I can to help her.”
“You’re a good man, Phillip.”
Phillip looked up at Victor, “No, I’m not doing this just for her. It’s for me too.”
Chad was sitting at his desk on his lap top. It had been about a half hour since he got the call from Daniel that Melanie was awake, and he needed to talk to him. They said that she was doing well, he didn’t understand what they would need to talk about. He looks up when there is as soft knock at the door. He gets up, retrieving his crutches, and walks to open the door, finding Maggie and Daniel standing on the other side.
Maggie smiles, “Hi, honey.”
“Hi…” He looks between the two and then steps back so they can enter.
Daniel observes him on the crutches, “You look good! How are you feeling?”
He shrugs as he closes the door, “I’m okay… How’s Melanie?”
Daniel looks to Maggie who smiles to Chad, “Why don’t we have a seat, hmm?”
“Okay…What’s going on?” He spoke with worry as he sat down in his desk chair and Maggie and Daniel took seats on the sofa.
Daniel took a deep breath, “As I told you on the phone, Melanie just woke up about an hour ago. And she is doing well. The baby is doing great, and so far there doesn’t seem to be any serious complications.”
Chad smiles, releasing the breath that he felt like he’d been holding since the night of the accident, “That’s amazing. So can you take me to see her? I mean- I can’t drive…”
“We can’t right now, Chad…” Maggie’s face was stoic, as she looked up to Chad whose expression fell.
“Why?”
“Melanie is experiencing some confusion…” Daniel explained, “She has some holes in her memory. She knows what year it is but she doesn’t remember the accident… and-”
Chad didn’t want to hear it, but he knew it was coming; the tears were stinging his eyes as he looked up at Daniel, “And she doesn’t remember me.”
Maggie looked down at her hands, unable to confirm Chad’s statement.
Daniel shakes his head, “No, I’m so sorry Chad, she doesn’t.”
He looks down and shakes his head, as to wonder if this was some kind of sick joke.
Maggie observes him and takes a cleansing breath in an attempt to keep her emotions at bay, “Chad, honey, this doesn’t mean that she is never going to remember you. She just needs time to heal… her brain is still recovering and once she is fully recovered all of her confusion and memories will clear up.”
He looks up, ominously, “How do you know that?”
“It would be extremely rare for her not to recover her memories.” Daniel spoke clearly and to the point, “She will get better, but there is no timeline on how long that will take.”
Chad nodded, his eyes clearing up, “Okay. So what happens now? I can’t see her then…”
“Kayla said that it would be wise to not place any stress on her for a little while until she is stronger.” Maggie spoke softly, “We haven’t even told her about the baby yet.”
He nods, looking up from his downward glance, “How is the baby? Is it really okay?”
“Yeah,” Daniel smiles, “Dr. Sheffield, her OB/GYN actually told me today, right before Melanie woke up, that they both seem very healthy in regards to the pregnancy.”
“When… um...” Chad looked up, his eyes weary, “When is the baby due?”
Daniel’s eyebrows raise, “Well as far as they can tell, it seems like she’s about 6 weeks pregnant. So we should be meeting him or her in about 7 months.”
Maggie looked concernedly at Daniel and back to Chad, “There is something else that we need to tell you.”
Chad simply looked up, with no comment and an expressionless face.
Daniel cleared his throat before speaking, “When we were talking to Melanie after she woke up, she asked about Phillip… and it seems… It seems that she believes that she and Phillip are still married. Still together.”
Chad looked at both Maggie and Daniel in remote disbelief, “What?”
“I know this must be so much for you to hear, and so hurtful. We just fell that it’s important for you to know exactly what is going on with her…” Maggie’s eyes filled with tears over the pain that they were causing Chad.
He looked down and sniffled, shrugging his shoulders he looked back up at them, “It’s the truth. You’re right, I mean, I do want to know what’s going on.”
“Chad, if there was any other way for us to handle this… we would do it.” Maggie explained, “But right now, the only thing we can do is allow Melanie to believe what she thinks she remembers. By telling her the truth, when she isn’t ready, we would only be putting her and the baby at risk.”
Daniel looked from his mother to Chad, “I can’t imagine what this is like for you…”
He looks at Daniel and Maggie with a soft smile, “I’ll be okay. As long as Melanie and our baby are okay… I’ll be fine.” He nods reassuringly.
Tears begin to fall on Maggie’s cheeks as she gets up from the sofa and walks to where Chad was sitting, taking him in her arms in a motherly hug. For a moment, he let’s go of the tears that he was holding inside. She kisses his head before releasing him from their embrace.
He looks up at her wearily, as she places her hand beneath his chin, “You are an amazing young man, do you know that?”
“Thanks…”
Maggie moves her hand from his chin to his cheek, wiping a tear. She grips his hand as she turns to Daniel.
He gets up from his seat, “We’ll leave you alone, Chad…’
Chad nods, “Thank you for coming over.”
“My daughter is lucky to have you…” He smiles, “And so is that little one… He or she is getting one fantastic father.”
Chad nods, “Thank you.” He looks to both of them, “Thank you both so much.”
Maggie leans down and hugs him again, kissing his cheek. She walks to the door to leave as Daniel shakes Chad’s hand and follows her. They let themselves out and close the door behind them.
Chad turns solemnly to his computer and clicks on a window that was minimized at the bottom of the screen. As it comes up, a page full of engagement rings displays on the screen. He puts his head down as tears begin to erupt, before looking up and slamming the laptop closed… He covers his head with his hands and breaks down in tears.

I have a question for readers... would you like me to post previews at the end of the chapters so you know what's coming up? I don't know what everyone prefers, but I notice that most of the stories have some kind of preview whether it be in between updates or at the end of chapters. Let me know and I'll be happy to oblige!

Chapter 12 The day passed, turning to night, and the next morning awakened an even greater sense of relief among Melanie’s family. She was improving rapidly, and becoming more and more like her regular self, with the obvious exception of a few misunderstandings in her reality. Everyone was extremely thankful to Phillip for going along with Melanie’s confusion about their relationship. They were aware it was going to be hard on everyone, but it was the only thing they could do. They not only had to protect Melanie, but they had to protect her child as well. Carly approached Daniel’s office door with two coffees in her hand. She knocked with her foot, after hearing an invitation to enter; she opened the door with her elbow and smiled to him as he sat at his desk.
“I come bearing gifts.” She smiles as she walks to his desk and hands him the coffee.
“Thank you very much!” He smiles up at her, taking a sip, expressing his enjoyment of the beverage, “Did you get much sleep last night? I looked in on you before I left and you seemed to be sleeping peacefully.”
She sighed as she sat down, “I did, thank you. How about you?”
“Hah. Yeah, I think I’m still sleeping…” He chuckled as he took another sip of his coffee.
“Have you seen Melanie yet?” Carly inquired before drinking her coffee.
“A little, she was sleeping when I got here… but I know they were going to be bringing her meds soon, so I’m sure she’s awake.”
Carly smiled, “Maxine said she did great last night… Slept well and stayed stable. I think she’s headed on the road to recovery full steam ahead!”
“Yeah.” Daniel smiled, “Kayla stopped in this morning and said they were going to start her on a physical therapy regime today, and she should be ready to go home within the next few days.”
Carly nodded, raising her eyebrows, “Which means we need to tell her about the baby pretty soon. She needs to know before she leaves the hospital…”
“Yes, I know. We discussed that. She said we can gauge how well we think she is doing today, and decide from there. I’d like to touch base with Phillip first, too.”
“Definitely,” She agreed, “and I know Maggie said that she would like Melanie to stay with her when she is released, which I think is a good idea. Maybe we can avoid the awkwardness of living situations between her and Phillip for a little while…”
Daniel nodded with a shrug, taking yet another sip of coffee, “I would like to know what’s going on in her head, you know?”
“Yeah… tell me about it.”
“I mean, she remembers some things… Like Miranda. She and Melanie only became friends after Melanie was with Chad… how can she remember Miranda and not Chad?”
“Well, are we really sure she doesn’t remember Chad? I mean… maybe she knows who he is, but she just doesn’t know that they were together.”
Daniel shrugged, “We can’t ask her, so I guess we’ll just have to listen carefully for clues. This is so frustrating because my hands are tied here and I hate that feeling.”
“We’re doing the best we can. That’s all that matters. Just making sure that we are doing the best we can for our daughter.” Carly nods reassuringly.
“I know…” Daniel smiles to her, “Have I told you yet how glad I am that you’re here?”
She shrugs with a smile, “Maybe a few times… and there is absolutely no way I would be anywhere else.”
The early morning sun was shining brightly through the Kiriakis kitchen. Phillip is sitting with a cup of coffee and the news paper, while Parker is sat on his knees across the table from him, playing what vaguely resembles a game of super heroes, creatively using the crust from his toast strips.
Phillip looks over his news paper, smirking at the sound effects and little voices coming from his son across the table, “Parker… toast is really for eating, not playing.”
Parker tilts his head at him with big blue eyes, “But I don’t like these parts…” He then picks a piece of toast from his plate and puts it in his mouth, before returning to his play with the crust pieces. Phillip shakes his head and chuckles, focusing back on his paper.
As Maggie rounds the corner into the kitchen she smiles when she sees Parker at the table. He looks up from his play, his face lighting up as he bounds off the chair, “Hi!” he excitedly exclaims as he runs to Maggie, who picks him up and showers him with kisses.
“Hi there, little love bug!” She smiles, hugging him close.
He looks at her curiously, “Where you go?!” He holds out both hands in question.
“I know, I’ve been very busy lately. I’ve missed you though!”
Phillip turns, smiling at the two, before Maggie walks to the table, setting Parker back on the chair,“Finish your breakfast…” She leans down and kisses his head.
“How are you doing, Maggie?” Phillip questions, softly.
“Very good, thank you.” Maggie smiles to him as Parker silently watches her scoop up his crust pieces and crumbs and throw them in the garbage, before heading to the coffee pot and pouring herself a cup. She sits down at the table, and Parker sits quietly, eating his toast. She addresses Phillip, “How are you doing?”
“I’m Good.” Phillip nods and smiles, “You know, my son is a totally different kid when you’re around.”
She laughs, looking over at Parker and back to Phillip, “Well he’s never anything less than an angel…”
Phillip rolls his eyes, “Oh, you just wait until you witness a Parker sized tantrum… I think you’ve forgotten he is a Kiriakis.”
“Oh, yes.” Her eyes widen, “I am familiar with Kiriakis tantrums.” She chuckles, taking a sip of her coffee.
Phillip smiled, folding his paper, “Are you headed to see Melanie this morning?”
“Melnee?!” Parker looks up, wide eyed.
Maggie smiles to him, “Yes, Melanie.” She addresses Phillip, “I am, in a little while.”
“I was thinking I would go later this morning. Parker is going on a little play date with Bo and Ciara.” He pauses, “Daniel called me and said they were planning on telling her about the baby this morning… and it made me start thinking about how we will explain Parker to her? I mean… I just want to keep the confusion for both of them as low as possible.”
Maggie nods, “I know. I think we will probably just have to ease her into that, somehow. Once we find out how much she remembers about your past together, then it will be easier. Obviously, we need to make sure we have all bases covered before she is released.”
“Which should be soon, right? I mean, she’s improving so quickly.”
“She is,” Maggie nods, with a smile she looks back up at Phillip, “What you’re doing means so much to me, Phillip. I hope you know that.”
Phillip nods, “It means a lot to me too. I’m glad I can help Melanie.”
“I know this isn’t going to be easy, especially with the baby… and when she comes home… But I am confident that we will be able to handle everything as it comes.”
“I know,” He agrees.
Maggie smiles and reaches out, squeezing Phillip’s hand before looking back to Parker who is drinking his milk from an enclosed cup with a straw, “Parker, I heard you spent the afternoon with your Grandpa, yesterday!”
Parker releases his drink from his mouth, gasping for breath, he nods, “Yah. We played checks.”
“Checkers?” Maggie inquired, with a raised eyebrow.
“Nope,” he shook his head before reiterating, “Checks.”
Phillip smiled, slightly confused, “Chess?”
Parker lowered his eyebrows, angrily rolling his eyes, “No! I say checks! You not hear me?”
“Oh, so sorry Parker- checks…okay.” Maggie nodded, trying to avoid laughing.
Parker nods, shoving another piece of toast into his mouth, squirming in his seat.
Maggie rolls her eyes to Phillip, “You’re right… he is a Kiriakis.” She chuckles.
