I am feeling so bad for Chad. He doesn't know what to say or do or how to act with Melanie. It's so sad.

Just got caught up. Actually had to go back and re-read the chapter with Melanie and Chad. So glad that Melanie wants his daughter to know him. Can't wait to find out just what that kiss meant to Melanie and what she and Miranda talk about!

Chapter 34
Work was normally a great way for her to get things off of her mind, but today it wasn’t working. In fact, Melanie had more on her mind in the past few days than she has had in a long time. She stood at the nurse’s station, a pen in her hand positioned to write, but her eyes fixated into space, her mind going back to a previous moment in that same spot of the nurse’s station.
Melanie is recording some of her last charts into the computer when Chad approaches, surprising her. She looks up and smiles brightly; he looks around and then quickly kisses her over the counter.
“What are you doing here?” She smiles.
“Well, you’re shift is just about done, right? I was hoping we could go out to dinner or something!”
Melanie tilts her head, adoringly, “Aw, well I thought we were going to go out tomorrow night? I didn’t bring anything to change into today!”
“You look beautiful, just the way you are!” He smiles, coyly.
Miranda approached with a smile on her face and observed Melanie’s daydream state, “Hey, Mel!” She waited for a reaction, “Melanie?” Still nothing, she walked closer to her, “Hey, Melanie, are you okay?”
She shook her head and focused back on Miranda, “Huh?”
“Are you okay?” She spoke slowly and clearly, followed by a light chuckle.
Melanie smiled small, “Yeah. I’m fine.”
“You sure?” Miranda questioned as she worked on the computer next to Melanie.
“Yep. Fine.” She took a deep breath as she focused back on the work in front of her.
“Just so we’re clear, you know I don’t believe you, right?”
Melanie sighed, looking up from her chart, “I don’t want to talk about it.”
“Okay…” Her friends face grew concerned, “Do you feel all right?”
“Yeah,” She nods, “I’m okay. Just… nothing. Never mind.”
“What’s going on?” Miranda turned and leaned on the counter.
“Nothing!” Melanie exclaimed as she walked over to the filing cabinet.
Miranda turns her head, watching her, “You might feel better if you talked to someone. I guess it doesn’t have to be me…”
“It’s not that I don’t want to talk to you. I’m really fine, Randa. I just have some stuff on my mind.” She shrugs as she tries to focus back on her work and brush off her friends concerns.
“Mel, you haven’t been yourself for a couple days now. Obviously something is bothering you.” Miranda crosses her arms.
“Fine,” Melanie sighs, looking up at her friend “Chad kissed me the other day…”
“What?” Miranda’s eyes widened, “He kissed you… did you kiss him back?”
“Yeah,” She nods, “For a minute, I mean, before I realized what was happening I guess, I don’t know. But it didn’t feel right… I mean, I felt like I shouldn’t be kissing him. And…” She pauses, looking away.
“And?”
“I jumped away… Like you know, I was kind of shocked.” Her eyes grow wide, “Not kind of- I was shocked! But the minute I got up and looked at him, I remembered.”
“Remembered what?” Miranda listened intently.
She met her friend’s eyes, “Chad. I remembered him” Her voice was soft. She cringed inside as she watched Miranda’s face grow into a smile.
“Melanie, that’s great news!!”
“Not really...” She looked away.
Miranda was confused, “What do you mean, not really? Isn’t this what you’ve been waiting for?”
“Yeah… I guess.” She looks back up, “I mean… I don’t remember everything. But after that kiss it was like some of the fog cleared, you know? And then I’ve been having, like, these flashes ever since.”
“Is that what was happening when I came up here? Were you remembering something?”
She nods, “Yeah…”
“How do you feel? I guess… It’s obvious you’re conflicted…”
“Obvious, huh?” She looks up at her friend, wearily, “Maybe I’m just over whelmed, but I don’t feel anything, except maybe confusion.”
“Have you told anyone else?” Miranda watched as Melanie shook her head.
“No, and you can’t tell anyone. I don’t want anyone to know about this.” She shakes her head in frustration.
“Melanie, you know I would never say anything…”
“I know. It’s just that the minute Chad knows that I remember, he is going to expect something from me that I can’t give him.”
Miranda lowered her brow, “What do you mean you can’t give him?”
“I’m not ready! I don’t even remember… I mean… I don’t remember everything yet. You know, it’s still like coming back to me or whatever. Might take a while before I have all of those memories back. And I don’t even know what I feel and I’m not ready to just jump back into life with Chad.”
“I don’t think he would expect that…”
She shrugs as she turns back and tries to focus on her work, “Well, I can’t risk it. I need to figure out how I feel first before I can do anything.” She pauses, looking up, “That is, if I can even figure that out…”

This is so good. I love how the conflict is continuing even as her memories return. It is so interesting. I wonder what is fueling her amnesia?
My mind is spinning with this...
Totally made my day with this update!

She wants Philip. Even though she remembers Chad, she wants Philip. Can't say I blame her!

Chapter 35
Melanie entered the mansion through the back door in the kitchen, a smile forming on her face when she saw Parker and Philip in aprons at the counter, making what looks like it should be dinner.
“Melnee!” He jumps down off of his stool and into her arms, hugging her, “I missed you!”
She pulls away, looking into his face, “I missed you too, sweet boy!”
“Me and daddy’s making dinner.” He takes her hand and pulls her over to the counter, before leaving and hopping back on his stool.
Melanie observes the boiling water on the stove and the various pieces of bread being buttered on the counter, “What are you doing?”
“Making dinner!” Philip looks up at her, flashing a dimpled grin.
She smiles, raising an eyebrow, “Bread and water?”
“No,” He chuckles, “This is, uh, going to be garlic bread? And that’s going to be spaghetti.”
“Ah, I see…” She nods, smiling to Parker, whose bread looks like it is being frosted instead of buttered, “Got enough butter there, Parker?”
“Yep!” He nods happily, continuing his task.
Melanie laughs, shaking her head, “Why is it that the two of you are making dinner instead of people who actually know how to cook?”
“Hey! I resent that!” He mockingly shows offense before smiling, “Maggie’s working tonight. And my dad went to Ciara’s soccer game.”
She nods, “All right. And you don’t know how to order a pizza?”
“Hey, listen… you can turn right around and go get a pizza if you’d like but we thought it would be nice to make some dinner, you know, with a little tender love and care.”
Melanie smiles, “I’m sorry… it’s very thoughtful. And I must say, I’m glad I got to see that in person.” She gestures to the pink apron draped over the front of his frame.
“What?” He looks down, “I happen to like this apron. I think it’s flattering.”
“Oh jeez…” She shakes her head and chuckles as she heads to the fridge and retrieves water.
Philip watches her, “How was your day?”
“Oh, fine.” She sighs as she sits on the stool opposite the two cooks.
“That doesn’t sound too convincing.”
She shrugs, “Doesn’t matter. I’m hungry, when is this stuff going to be done?”
“Melnee! We have to cook it!!” Parker glared at her.
She retreated, “Very sorry, Parker. I will try and be more patient.” She stifled a giggle as he nonchalantly focused back on the task.
“He’s very serious about this…” Philip smiles before looking up at her, concernedly, “Is everything okay? I mean… you kind of haven’t been yourself for the past couple days.”
“So I’ve heard,” She sighs, “I’m okay.” She smiles reassuringly.
“Well, I hope you know you can talk to me, Melanie. I mean, if you need someone to talk to…” Philip shrugs.
She looks down, “Thanks…” She pauses, then looks up bright eyed, “But I just don’t have anything to talk about. I’m fine. Let’s get this dinner made!” She jumps up and begins to help a now perplexed Philip.
At Chez Rouge, Daniel held the door open as Carly entered in front of him. They smiled to the hostess.
“Hi, Allison! How are you?” Daniel smiled.
“Very good, Dr. Jonas. Two tonight?”
He nodded as she guided them into the restaurant, seating them at an intimate table next to the fireplace.
Carly smiled up at Daniel as she lifted the menu, “Thank you so much for taking me out!”
“You are very welcome,” He smiles, “I figured I would step it up a notch. Pizza in front of the T.V. isn’t exactly dinner together.”
“It’s not about what you’re eating, it’s about the company.” She smiles, “But tonight, I have to say I’m excited about what we’re going to be eating.”
Daniel laughs, “Me too…” He pulls his phone out and frowns slightly at a text message before putting it away.
“What’s wrong?”
He looks up, “Oh, nothing. I just texted Mel to see if she wanted to meet us for desert somewhere but she said she was tired and going to stay in tonight.”
“She probably is…. Pretty soon being on her feet at work is going to take a lot out of her.”
“Yeah, I guess.”
She looks up, curiously, “You disagree, Dr. Dad?”
“No…” He shakes his head with a chuckle, “It’s just that I think it’s a little more than that. She’s been acting a little strange lately.”
“How so?”
“I don’t know…” He shrugs, “I saw her at the hospital, she was talking to Miranda and I had to go so I didn’t get the chance to find out. She insisted she was fine, of course.”
“But you don’t think she is?”
“I hope she is… I just didn’t get that feeling. I don’t know. I’m sure when she’s ready, she will talk about whatever it is.”
“She knows that she has a lot of people around her that love her and want to help whenever we can. I think that helps her, knowing that she has her family.”
Daniel smiles, “Yeah. I know she is happy to have her mom here.”
“I hope so…”
“Carly, come on, of course she is.”
Carly shrugs, “I wish I never had to leave. But you know, I’m better able to be there for her now.”
“You are. And you are doing a great job. I definitely would be lost without you.”
“Oh, Dr. Jonas, I think you would be just fine.” She smiles, looking up from the menu.
Daniel shakes his head, “I’m not too sure about that. I was kind of, I don’t know, bored? Then you came back and made everything a little more interesting." He reaches out and takes her hand, "I didn’t realize how much I missed you.”
They smile to one another as the waiter approaches with their water and notes that he will be back. Daniel takes a drink and spots Maggie speaking to another table in the corner, then turns walking towards them with a smile.
Daniel furrows his brow, mockingly, “Excuse me, ma’am, are you the owner? This water tastes a little bit too, um, watery. Can you do something about this?”
Carly shakes her head and chuckles as Maggie playfully slaps Daniels arm, before leaning down placing a kiss on his cheek, then turning to Carly to do the same.
“My son, the comedian.” She rolls her eyes.
“He thinks he’s very funny… I just don’t have the heart to tell him the truth…” Carly whispers.
“Oh, please. You both know how incredibly gifted I am.” Daniel rolls his eyes causing Maggie and Carly to laugh.
“So, how are you this evening?”
Carly smiles, “Very good, thank you. How are you doing?”
“Great!” Maggie smiles, coyly “Very happy to see the two of you here, together.”
Carly and Daniel exchange glances.
Daniel smiles, “We are very happy to be here.”
“Well, I’ll leave you alone. Enjoy your dinner.”
Carly nods, “Thank you…”
Maggie pats Daniel’s shoulder as she walks away from the table.
Chapter 36 Preview --Miranda encourages Melanie to follow her heart.

OMG...Philip in a pink apron...I need to see that in living color. LOL Parker and Philip are just the cutest pair. I have to come back and re-read Carly and Daniel later...because I am too busy imagining Philip cooking in that apron.
Seems to me Mel blew off her dad for Philip and Parker...just saying...
You totally made my Friday.

Lol! Melanie did blow off her dad, yes. Partially because of Parker and Philip and partially because she knows hes going to know something is wrong and she is avoiding talking about it. But she was certainly glad she got to see Philip in the pink apron an what would make her want to leave that?
