If you could only have one of these couples on the show, which one would it be? Please vote.

John and Marlena

or

Bo and Hope

For me, it's Bo and Hope. Marlena and John never had much appeal to me and they've been way overplayed for decades, even now. Bo and Hope always had a lot more heart, better stories and better acting. I wish they could come back longer term.

I grew up with both couples and thought I would have gone Bo and Hope, (I literally skipped school for their wedding) but I'm just not feeling them. Maybe if they'd given them some actual scenes together when Bo returned I'd feel differently. But Hope has felt flat to me since they ruined Aiden. It's like she's lost her spark and her scenes are dull.

John and Marlena also aren't what they used to be, but I still enjoy them together.

But to be honest, if I had to pick characters and not couples, I'd want John and Bo on the show over Hope and Marlena.

Neither one has ever been my favorite but I feel like the show needs a couple who serve as kind of an anchor. In the past it’s been Tom and Alice or Caroline and Shawn. The older, solid couple who advise the younger characters through their dramas. Of the characters left, I just feel like John and Marlena fill that roll more. No they aren’t the same but for me, they are the closest thing left. Steve and Kayla maybe also.

I like Bo and Hope but I really don’t care much about them at this point.

wendylou I have thought for a while that Doug and Julie fit the Alice/Tom role. But I'm not sure Bill Hayes can work more than sporadically these days, so I'd take John and Marlena in that role.

Yes, I forgot about Doug and Julie. They do kind of fill that roll but as you kind of said they aren’t on as much, especially Doug.
